Chapter 140: FirstBond
Seraphina quietly sat there atop the large bed, the sheets softly covering her lower body.
A slightly confused expression rested on her face.
The room had fallen silent after Lucian suddenly rushed out earlier.
Slowly, she turned her head toward the maid, who still stood beside the bed with her eyes fixed on the open door Lucian had left through.
Sensing Seraphina’s gaze on her, Kanna finally shifted her attention away from the corridor.
But seeing the maid not speaking at all, Seraphina eventually asked quietly.
“Where did he go in such a hurry?”
She didn’t understand what had happened earlier, but instinctively she could tell something was wrong with Lucian.
The heavy breathing. Strange glow in his eyes. None of it felt normal.
“Maybe to Lady Amelia,” Kanna answered flatly without much emotion.
Hearing that, Seraphina’s eyes narrowed slightly. Then immediately, she pushed the bedsheets aside and got out of bed.
As she stood upright, she finally noticed the change in her clothes. She was currently wearing an elegant black nightgown that reached slightly below her knees.
But the moment her gaze lowered toward herself, a faint frown formed between her brows, seeing her arms exposed.
And because of that, anyone could easily see the old scars over her shoulders, a few stretching along her arms—quietly hidden beneath clothing most of the time.
Kanna immediately noticed the discomfort crossing her face, but before the maid could ask anything, Seraphina lifted her gaze again and began walking toward the door.
Without another word, Kanna silently followed after her. The two stepped out into the massive corridors outside.
“Where did he go…?” Seraphina muttered silently the moment she stepped into the lavish hallway, and for a brief second, she was genuinely stunned by the sheer scale of the place.
“This way.”
But hearing Kanna’s flat voice, Seraphina was pulled out of her thoughts before quietly following after her through the corridor.
Meanwhile—
Valentina and Vivienne silently stared at the pair pressed against the corridor wall, clinging tightly to each other as their fangs remained buried in the other’s neck, desperately drinking each other’s blood.
The scent of blood lingered thickly throughout the hallway.
“No self-control.” Vivienne clicked her tongue in annoyance, seeing them completely ignoring their surroundings.
Neither Lucian nor Lia had reacted to their presence.
“You sound jealous, daughter.”
Valentina’s voice came from beside her, carrying an amused yet curious tone.
Vivienne turned toward her mother, and seeing the entertained smile resting on her face made her lips twitch slightly.
“Why would I be jealous?” she answered—immediately denying it, yet inwardly, she couldn’t suppress the strange curiosity stirring within her.
Even now, she could still smell the intoxicating scent of his blood continuously assaulting her senses, the sweet aroma irritating her far more than she wanted to admit.
And she had already smelled it earlier as well.
“Tch.”
She clicked her tongue again in irritation.
Valentina, meanwhile, slowly turned her head toward the distance, as though her golden eyes could see straight through the walls.
Several guards and maids were already approaching this direction after hearing Lia’s scream earlier, and noticing that, Valentina felt mildly annoyed.
Then she shifted her gaze back toward Lucian again. Her fingers twitched faintly, and after a second of thought—
A terrifying pressure silently exploded from her, instantly flooding through the surrounding corridors. The approaching guards and servants froze immediately, dread flashing across their faces.
But the moment they recognized the Duchess’s familiar yet terrifying aura locking them in place, every one of them silently bowed in respect before retreating back toward their previous positions.
But then, Valentina suddenly sensed an unfamiliar presence approaching alongside Kanna. Remembering something, she simply allowed them to continue forward.
Beside her, Vivienne barely even noticed what had happened, her eyes remaining completely fixed on Lucian’s back as he pressed Lia tightly against the wall, holding her in an almost possessive embrace.
Several seconds had passed when suddenly—
“Oh…!”
A surprised sound escaped Valentina’s lips as she felt something change.
“What is happening with him?” Vivienne frowned faintly, feeling Lucian’s presence growing heavier, denser.
A crimson aura began emerging around his body, layers of red energy wrapping around him before gradually spreading around Lia as well.
And as that happened, inside Lucian’s mind—
[Ding!~]
A melodious chime echoed through his consciousness, the sound slightly jolting him out of the blood-hazed state consuming his mind.
A fraction of clarity returned to his crimson eyes.
But the hunger didn’t lessen in the slightest.
If anything, it only intensified even further.
Then translucent screens flickered before his vision alongside Akasha’s voice.
[You have completely unlocked your Sanguis Noctus Bloodline.]
Another screen appeared immediately afterward.
[Your race has been strengthened.]
[Your lineage has been completely unlocked: Vampire(???) ➝ Vampire (Progenitor).]
Lucian’s glowing crimson eyes brightened even further, the bloodlust surging violently once more.
Instinctively, he began sucking even more of Lia’s blood.
“Mmhh!~~”
Lia trembled faintly against him.
She suddenly felt something strange spreading throughout her body, as if something were invading her very blood itself.
Then, a monotone, emotionless voice echoed directly inside her mind.
[You have gained the title: First Bond.]
The temperature around her began rising rapidly. Heat faintly distorted the surrounding corridor, yet Lia barely noticed any of it.
Her mind had already become hazy, and all she could focus on was the intoxicating taste of her brother’s blood flowing across her tongue, making her completely lose herself within it.
‘Brother feels so close…’ the thought barely formed in her head before dissolving beneath the overwhelming pleasure and hunger.
Lucian’s crimson eyes opened slightly wider, staring at the panels continuously materialising before his vision.
[You have gained the title: Progenitor of Vampires.]
[You have acquired the affinity: Soul.]
The moment he saw those words, he felt something inside him shift, though very slightly.
But before he could even process it, more and more screens appeared rapidly.
[Your trait Eternal body has evolved to Immortal Flesh.]
Lucian felt another silent transformation surge throughout his body.
Everything within him felt stronger, more durable, slowly changing into something far more… eternal, as though his very existence had drifted even further away from mortality itself.
[You have gained the trait: Night Sovereign.]
His senses sharpened beneath the night sky, and even unconsciously, he could hear the distant footsteps drawing closer. He could hear the heartbeats of the two women nearby, and especially… Lia’s.
[You have gained the trait: Progenitor’s Authority.]
Vivienne’s expression changed slightly. Her brows furrowed as a heavy pressure suddenly descended upon her—unfamiliar yet deeply oppressive.
It was a feeling similar to the one she experienced whenever she stood before her mother… and once from the Vampire Queen herself.
Except now, that pressure was coming from the newborn standing before her.
Lucian’s half-lidded eyes remained fixed on the endless translucent panels floating before him, and even while continuing to feed, he instinctively understood the meaning behind everything.
As though the knowledge had always existed within him from the very beginning.
[Congratulations~]
Akasha’s cheerful voice echoed inside his mind.
[You officially became the big boss of all vampires.]
Her tone sounded genuinely delighted, almost jovial.
But Lucian barely heard her properly anymore.
Half of his mind remained conscious, and the other half had already become instinct, only focusing on his hunger and bloodlust.
At that exact moment, Seraphina and Kanna finally arrived at the corridor.
And the instant Seraphina’s eyes landed upon Lucian’s back, she froze completely.
Even Kanna stopped mid-step beside her.
An overwhelming presence pressed against them both immediately.
Despite not understanding why, Kanna instinctively felt it. Something greater than her stood before them now, something vastly above ordinary vampires.
Her blood began boiling violently inside her body, and almost instinctively, her dark black eyes shifted to their crimson hue.
Seraphina, meanwhile, felt a crushing pressure descend upon her body, as though the very air around her had suddenly become unbearably dense.
Both Valentina and Vivienne instantly noticed their arrival, and seeing Seraphina struggling to breathe beneath the pressure, Valentina casually waved her hand. The oppressive force surrounding her shattered immediately.
Vivienne frowned faintly.
“Who is she?”
Her glowing crimson eyes sharply locked onto Seraphina’s icy blue ones.
Seraphina, feeling the sharp stare, finally turned toward the two red-haired women.
Women who were almost dangerously beautiful, and she might’ve even felt a bit jealous if she wasn’t currently worried about her son.
Every vampire present currently had glowing blood-red eyes. And if an ordinary vampire had been standing here right now, they would have already completely lost control after smelling Lucian’s blood.
They would have rushed toward him without hesitation and mindlessly torn him apart just to consume his blood.
Even Kanna—the weakest-ranked vampire among them—felt the strongest pull toward him, almost taking a step forward before barely managing to stop herself in time.
Then suddenly, everyone’s attention simultaneously shifted back toward Lucian and Lia again.
The crimson aura surrounding Lucian grew darker in colour, thicker, almost resembling actual blood swirling around his body.
And if that alone wasn’t enough—
Far above the skies of Bloodveil itself, the moon slowly began turning crimson red.
A deep scarlet glow spread across its surface, bathing the entire vampire world beneath a blood-colored light.
Every citizen instinctively raised their heads toward the sky, feeling a strange, incomprehensible, terrifying… and ancient presence descending upon the world.
None of them understood what was happening.
But some… very few did.
Inside the Duchess’s castle—
A small smile began spreading across Valentina’s lips.
Vivienne glanced toward her, her frown deepening further.
Then suddenly, she took several steps away from her mother, feeling the pressure radiating from her intensify violently.
It was too overwhelming.
Even for her.
Then instantly, Vivienne’s body dissolved into mist before reappearing directly in front of Seraphina and Kanna.
“Hehe…”
A soft eerie chuckle escaped Valentina’s lips.
The smile on her face widened further and further, until it almost looked distorted across her face.
“I knew it… I knew it…” she muttered maniacally, then—
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA—!!!!!!”
Her laughter exploded throughout the entire castle, loud and violent enough to make the entire mansion tremble faintly.
The sheer pressure erupting from that laughter alone made everyone present instinctively shudder.
Vivienne gritted her teeth hard, one knee slamming against the polished floor beneath the overwhelming aura leaking from her mother.
Behind her, both Kanna and Seraphina’s bodies trembled violently, and the only reason they remained standing at all… was because Vivienne herself was blocking most of Valentina’s monstrous aura from reaching them directly.
300 Power Stones = 1 extra chapter.
Yeah, I know I increased the number of Power Stones but I’ll run out of ideas if I rushed myself too much, so bear with this lazy author.
