Seeing Ye Fan’s pained wince, Su Qingxue panicked. "Ye Fan, I’m sorry!"
She realized her mistake. Her personality had shifted from the Flame Witch’s dominant persona back to her own. This was a hallmark of her fusion with the Flame Witch: one moment she was strong and domineering, the next, tender and gentle. In this softer state, Su Qingxue began to worry about Ye Fan.
He felt so wronged he was on the verge of tears. "Qingxue," he said, "I think I might be... broken."
"Ah! What should we do?" Su Qingxue asked hurriedly.
"I don’t blame you," Ye Fan said.
"You have to be okay!" Su Qingxue said anxiously, apologizing to him again and again.

Su Qingxue asked, "Then how can we check?"
Ye Fan knew his chance had come. He said at once, "You have to... massage it for me. If it’s really broken, I might as well be dead."

Just then, Ye Fan received a text message from Liu Ruyan. Before he could reply, Liu Ruyan called.
"Honey, can you come out for a walk with me? Staying with that shrew is driving me crazy," Liu Ruyan said helplessly.
Ye Fan quickly glanced around. Seeing that Su Qingxue wasn’t eavesdropping, he breathed a small sigh of relief. The situation was dangerously close to blowing up. "I don’t have time right now!" he said.
"No, you have to come with me! Otherwise, I’ll post online that you got me pregnant and then abandoned me! Don’t think I don’t know how to use the internet!"
Liu Ruyan’s threat genuinely terrified him. This woman was crazy enough to do anything. He relented, "Fine, fine, fine! I’ll come see you later, okay? But stop calling me ’honey.’ There’s nothing between us!"

Ye Fan was speechless.
He hung up and turned to Su Qingxue. "Qingxue, I need to step out for a bit. Don’t wait for me for dinner."
"Where are you going?" she asked.
Without a change in his expression, Ye Fan said, "I’m off to the Heavenly King Hall, of course. Tian Can just called and said there’s something important to discuss. It’s an emergency, so I have to go now!"
He took one step before Su Qingxue snapped, "Hold it!"
Ye Fan froze in place.
"Are you still trying to lie to me?" Su Qingxue asked.
"Qingxue, I’m not the type to lie. How can you not trust me?" Ye Fan spread his hands helplessly.
Su Qingxue retorted, "Do you have any credibility left?"
Ye Fan was left speechless. It was true; his credibility was shot, and he couldn’t blame Su Qingxue for it. Inside, he was falling apart.
"I have the number for the Heavenly King Hall headquarters," Su Qingxue said. "If you aren’t lying to me this time, I’ll let you go. But if you dare lie to me, don’t blame me for what happens next. You’ll regret it!"
Her threat made Ye Fan’s stomach clench. At this point, panicking wouldn’t help. He could only pray that the people at Heavenly King Hall would play along. Otherwise, he couldn’t imagine his fate.
Soon, Su Qingxue dialed the number for the Heavenly King Hall. "I’m looking for Tian Can," she said calmly.
The person who answered knew exactly who this was—the Chief’s first lady. He didn’t dare to delay and immediately found Tian Can.
"Sister-in-law, what can I do for you?" Tian Can asked obsequiously. After all, Su Qingxue was the Chief’s woman, and her power was even more terrifying than the Chief’s. He wouldn’t dare to be impertinent.
"Don’t you have something important to handle?" Su Qingxue asked.

Ye Fan knew it was over. He was absolutely doomed.
Su Qingxue shot him a fierce glare before asking into the phone, "But your Chief said you called him about something you needed to discuss."
Tian Can hesitated for a moment, then his expression shifted to one of dawning realization. "Oh, right! That’s correct," he said hastily. "Look at my memory, I almost forgot. I do indeed have something to discuss with the Chief!"
Quick thinking, kid. Otherwise, I would’ve made you pay!
At that, Su Qingxue hung up.
"Qingxue, do you believe me now?" Ye Fan asked.
"Hmph! I’ll believe you *this time*," Su Qingxue snorted. "But if I find out you were out messing around, I definitely won’t let you get away with it!"
"How would I dare?" Ye Fan said sheepishly.
"Is there anything you *wouldn’t* dare to do?" she shot back.
Ye Fan truly had nothing more to say.
Then, she told him, "Remember, you’re my man. You belong to me in life and in death."
What else could he say? He had been completely outplayed and could only accept his misfortune.
He then said goodbye to Su Qingxue. Worried she might tail him, Ye Fan deliberately took a roundabout route. He only relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief when he was certain she wasn’t following.
Ye Fan arrived at the private courtyard Gongsun Chou had arranged for Liu Ruyan.
"Honey, you’re here!" The moment Liu Ruyan saw him, she pounced.
"Stop!" Ye Fan immediately blocked her.
"Why?" Liu Ruyan asked indignantly.
"There’s nothing between us, so we need to keep our distance!" Ye Fan stated. "If you call me ’honey’ again, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
Ye Fan’s words made Liu Ruyan furious. However, seeing his completely impervious expression, she realized there was nothing she could do.
