Chapter 93: Chapter 93: The Year-Long Challenge
"Bang!"
That punch sent Roberts Joshua flying!
His body crashed hard into the wall, creating spider-web cracks across its surface!
I was drenched in blood, my face barely recognizable.
But I kept smiling. At that moment, my smile must have looked terrifying!
"Hehe..." I swayed, about to collapse any second.
"You... you’re looking for death!" Roberts Joshua scrambled up from the floor, his face bright red. That punch had clearly hurt him!
"Kid, just give up and this all ends. Why keep fighting?" Soren Sean stared at me coldly.
I forced myself to stay upright and sneered: "Soren... Uncle Sean, if you won’t agree, then go ahead and kill me...."
Yeah, for me, living without Mabel Sean was worse than death.
When Soren Sean heard those words, he froze.
He frowned, then clapped his hands and gave a quiet snort.
"Bang!"
Roberts Joshua charged at me again, his fist slamming into my body and launching me through the air!
Roberts Joshua’s punch was way stronger this time! He was sure he could knock me out cold.
"Finally done." Roberts Joshua panted, breathing hard.
Soren Sean waved his hand. "Let’s go."
But right then, I let out a low moan from where I lay on the ground.
They watched as I pushed myself up with my hands, struggling to stand once more.
Once, twice, three times...
Nine times straight, I couldn’t get up! My injuries were so bad that anyone else would be dead by now!
But even so, I wasn’t giving up! I still wanted to try a tenth time!
Surprise flickered across Soren Sean’s face.
He stood there thinking for a moment, then walked over to me.
"You’re Mason Raymond, right?" Soren Sean took a deep breath.
"I’ll give you one year. But remember, it’s just one year. If you can’t meet my standards after a year, I won’t agree even if you’re dead." Soren Sean said icily.
"Mr. Sean!" Both bodyguards’ faces changed instantly!
Soren Sean... actually agreed?
Soren Sean waved his hand, telling them to keep quiet.
I finally collapsed on the ground, unable to get up anymore.
Using all my remaining strength, I whispered, "Uncle Sean... thank you..."
Soren Sean said nothing more and left the hotel.
——
Mabel Sean had already woken up from her sleep.
She had this uneasy feeling in her heart.
When she saw Soren Sean wasn’t in the hotel, that uneasy feeling got even stronger.
Soon, Soren Sean came back to the hotel.
"Where did you go?" Before the lights even came on, Mabel Sean’s lonely voice rang out.
Soren Sean shuddered, saying awkwardly: "Mabel, you... you’re still awake?"
"Did you go see Mason Raymond?" Mabel Sean’s voice shot up several octaves.
Soren Sean couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.
In front of his own daughter, he really had no way to handle things.
"Mabel, I swear to you, nothing happened to Mason Raymond!" Soren Sean raised his hand and promised, like a kid.
Mabel Sean stared at Soren Sean, as if trying to tell whether he was lying.
After a long pause, Mabel Sean said coldly: "Dad, I never joke around, and I always do what I say."
Soren Sean wiped sweat from his forehead and forced a smile. "Right, right, Mabel, go to sleep. It’s getting late."
Only after Mabel Sean went back to her room did Soren Sean let out a sigh of relief.
"Man, I really don’t get how Mason Raymond won Mabel over..." Soren Sean muttered to himself.
"Mr. Sean, do you really plan to let Miss Sean marry Mason Raymond?" Roberts Joshua couldn’t help frowning.
Soren Sean laughed. "When did I agree? I just said I’d give him a year. One year. I can wait that long."
"But..." Roberts Joshua frowned. "What if he actually accomplishes something after a year?"
Soren Sean glanced at Roberts Joshua. "If Mason Raymond really goes to Capital City, you know what he’ll face. Those fancy young men in Capital City won’t go easy on him."
Soren Sean paused, then went on, "Of course, if Mason Raymond can beat those fancy young men, it wouldn’t be bad for Mabel to marry him."
Hearing this, Roberts Joshua smiled bitterly. "But that’s easier said than done... How can Mason Raymond, starting from nothing, compete with the young masters from Capital City’s elite families? It’s impossible!"
Soren Sean shook his head. "Hard to say. There are people who’ve taken on major families single-handedly."
"Like Ignacio Richard and Paul Randall."
Hearing this, Roberts Joshua muttered quietly, "Ignacio Richard is now a top figure in the major war zones, and Paul Randall is even called the guardian of Pyro. Comparing Mason Raymond to them... aren’t you setting the bar too high..."
Soren Sean didn’t answer that question.
Others might not know, but Soren Sean was crystal clear.
If Mason Raymond really was that person’s son, then nobody knew what heights and status Mason Raymond might reach in the future.
After all... that person back then was someone who made all the major families bow down together!
