Chapter 90: Chapter 90: A Father’s Curiosity
Mabel Sean’s stubborn attitude caused Soren Sean to let out a quiet sigh.
Naturally, he understood why Mabel refused to leave - it was all because of that young man called Mason Raymond.
But given how things stood right now, Soren would never allow Mabel to remain in River City by herself.
"Mabel, this time you must go back." Soren drew in a long breath.
"Plus, your grandfather has given his approval as well." Soren spoke with a serious tone.
When Mabel heard this, her face immediately showed complete shock, and she went quiet for a while.
Mabel might disregard everyone else, but her grandfather’s wishes were something she had to respect.
"If you refuse to leave, your grandfather will personally travel to River City. The choice is yours." Soren gave a shake of his head.
Mabel’s brow furrowed right away.
Her grandfather was getting on in years and hadn’t ventured outside the Capital City in ages.
If her own selfish desires forced her grandfather to make the long journey to River City, Mabel could never live with herself.
"Allow me three days." Mabel drew a deep breath before speaking.
At this, Soren’s face broke into a smile.
"Very well, certainly. That’s fine." Soren gave several nods.
"There’s one more thing I need." Mabel went on at that moment.
Soren quickly nodded and answered: "Name it, and I’ll do everything possible to grant it."
"You must guarantee Mason Raymond’s protection." Mabel’s voice left no room for argument.
"Plus, those bodyguards have to keep staying with Mason."
Soren’s face took on a rather complex look.
In such a brief period, Mabel appeared to have transformed into an entirely different person, leaving Soren feeling amazed.
"It won’t be for very long." Right then, Mabel suddenly broke into a smile.
"One year at the most. After that year, I’m confident he won’t require the Sean family’s protection any longer."
Mabel spoke with conviction, a touch of joy in her voice.
Her face even showed a cheerful and hopeful expression.
Soren felt even more astonished.
What sort of young man could this be, to earn such high regard from Mabel?
"One year..." Soren thought to himself with doubt.
He questioned Mabel’s assessment.
What could a young man with nothing possibly accomplish in just one year?
Even if he possessed exceptional talent, it seemed impossible to achieve what Mabel suggested.
"I’ve accepted all your conditions." Eventually, Soren chose not to voice any other objections.
Later, Soren escorted Mabel back to the hotel.
After Mabel had gone to sleep, Soren walked briskly out of the hotel.
"Mr. Sean, what’s our destination now?" his two bodyguards inquired.
Wearing a cold look, Soren replied coolly, "I want to meet this young man called Mason Raymond."
"I’m quite interested to see what kind of man managed to win my daughter’s affections." Soren lit up a cigar and casually blew smoke rings.
"Understood, Mr. Sean." The two bodyguards gave their acknowledgment, and the vehicle raced toward Mason’s place.
Given the Sean family’s influence, locating someone would be a matter of minutes.
Inside the car, Soren stared through the window with a troubled expression.
When they had initially traveled to River City to meet Mason, it had been his grandfather’s suggestion.
From Soren’s viewpoint, the proud and haughty Mabel would likely head back to the Capital City quickly, and there was no chance she’d take interest in some ordinary young man from River City.
The Capital City was full of exceptional young talents, yet Mabel had never shown attraction to any of them. So how could she possibly be drawn to some broke guy from River City?
However, things had unfolded completely contrary to Soren’s predictions.
"I’m becoming more and more eager to encounter this young man."

At that moment, I was rolling around restlessly on the hotel bed, unable to get any sleep.
An uneasy feeling stayed with me, and after witnessing the Sean family’s influence, my determination had grown even stronger.
The strength shown by the Sean family was way beyond what I had imagined, even making me feel somewhat helpless!
But for me, no matter how many barriers lay ahead, I would never surrender.
As long as I could be together with Mabel, I was ready to sacrifice everything.
"Damn it!" I abruptly sat up in bed.
Getting any sleep was just not going to happen!
I got to my feet, staring at the view outside the window, my hands forming fists without thinking.
"One year at most. I will definitely reach the Capital City within one year, and I will be with Mabel Sean proudly and openly!" I practically spoke through gritted teeth.
Right then, I spotted a Rolls-Royce moving slowly past below.
Before long, the car came to a stop right downstairs.
A middle-aged man stepped out of the vehicle.
"Mabel... Mabel’s father?" My expression shifted.
"What’s his purpose here? Has he come looking for me?" I felt somewhat puzzled.
Still, regardless of whether Soren had come for me or not, I needed to get ready.
So, I quickly straightened up the room, prepared some coffee, and sat in the room calmly waiting.
Soon, the sound of footsteps could be heard from outside the door.
