Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Settling Scores!

After killing the two men, my anger still burned hot.

I rushed over to Mabel Sean and ripped off the ropes around her body.

Mabel’s face looked pale—not from being kidnapped, but from seeing the two corpses.

Only then did I realize I shouldn’t have killed anyone in front of Mabel.

But in that moment, rage had blinded me completely. I couldn’t think straight.

"You okay?" I positioned myself between Mabel and the bodies, blocking her view.

Mabel shook her head. "I’m fine."

"Good. Let’s get you home." I scooped Mabel up in my arms and headed down the mountain.

Cradled against me, Mabel felt completely safe.

She gazed up at my face and couldn’t help smiling.

This tender moment made the usually strong and commanding Mabel feel like a delicate woman.

When we reached the bottom, I carried Mabel to the car and drove toward the Sean family Estate.

"Miss Sean, this is my fault. I swear it won’t happen again." I spoke seriously while driving.

Mabel laughed. "Not your fault. They were just too reckless." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

I sighed, unsure what else to say.

"Miss Sean, tell your bodyguards to back off. I don’t need protection." I let out a soft sigh.

Mabel looked puzzled at this.

"Such a big mouth," Mabel muttered under her breath.

We reached the Sean family Estate quickly.

The estate was packed with River City’s top figures.

Their faces showed worry and complicated feelings.

If something happened to Mabel in River City, there’d be hell to pay!

"Miss Sean’s back!" someone yelled, and everyone rushed toward Mabel.

"Miss Sean, you all right? You scared us!"

"I’ll investigate River City’s security problems right away!"

"Someone will protect Miss Sean around the clock!"

Everyone talked at once, clearly rattled.

Mabel waved them off. "Go home. I’m tired and need rest."

"But..." Everyone exchanged uncertain looks.

"Miss Sean told you to leave, so go." The Secretary waved his hand dismissively.

One by one, they filed out.

After they left, the Secretary glared at me and snorted. "Lucky the young lady’s safe."

I ignored him and turned to Mabel. "Miss Sean, get some rest. I won’t bother you anymore."

"Where are you going?" Mabel stopped me.

With my back to Mabel, I took a deep breath. "Nothing major. Time for me to head home and rest."

I left the Sean family Estate quickly.

——

"Hmph, what a punk. Going home to rest now? How rude," the Secretary grumbled.

Mabel looked at him. "You really think he’s going home?"

The Secretary looked confused. "Miss, what do you mean?"

Mabel didn’t answer, just sighed softly. "Call the higher-ups. Make sure Mason stays safe. Get someone to clean up the mess."

The Secretary paused, then understood immediately.

Mason wasn’t really going home—he was going after whoever was behind this!

"Miss, I might not need to find people," the Secretary shook his head.

"I already told the master. He was furious when he heard. He’s contacted the Chuzzle Battle Zone, and apparently a special force from the battle zone is heading to River City."

Mabel frowned slightly at this news.

"Big mouth!" Mabel snapped coldly.

The Secretary stayed quiet beside her.

Mabel rubbed her pale forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

"Miss, who’s behind all this?" After a moment, the Secretary stepped forward cautiously.

Mabel didn’t answer, but she already knew.

It definitely wasn’t Harvey Brown, like those thugs claimed—it was someone else.

——

Right now, I was heading to the Brown family’s house.

The Browns lived in Dragon Rising Community, same area as me.

Harvey Brown was pacing around his room nervously.

"Honey, what’s wrong? I’ve got a bad feeling about this," Lyla Lucas frowned.

Harvey stayed silent, but fear consumed him.

He’d called those two thugs twice with no answer.

"Hopefully nothing went wrong," Harvey mumbled, voice shaking.

Just then, a shadow flashed past the door.

The already jumpy Harvey nearly jumped out of his skin.

"Who’s there?! Who’s out there!" Harvey shouted.

Silence outside. No response.

"Honey, there’s nobody there. You’re just too wound up," Lyla muttered.

Harvey wiped sweat from his forehead and whispered, "I hope so..."

"Click!"

The room door suddenly burst open violently!

A man stepped inside!
