Chapter 839: Chapter 839 A Question of Motives

Even with that, the terms proposed by the Capital City Martial Arts Association were indeed tempting.

As it was referred to as the sacred place for cultivation, it naturally was a place where qi was highly concentrated, hence, it was an excellent opportunity for cultivation.

"One month..." I muttered quietly.

"If I can break through within this month, it would solve everything."

By then, I would be just in time to establish my prestige during this opportunity.

After the meeting, Bella Tad dragged me along, intending to find a place to have a hearty drink.

I couldn’t refuse, and since we haven’t seen each other for a long time, I agreed.

The moment we arrived at the restaurant, just as I was about to sit down, two people walked over from the entrance.

These two people were powerful, their presence impressive, striding with tiger-like steps. Anyone could tell they were not ordinary people.

They walked straight to my table and politely asked, "May I ask if this is Mr. Mason Raymond?"

I nodded and asked, "Who are you?"

"My name is Claude Avalynn, but others call me Mr. Avalynn."

The visitor was none other than Mr. Avalynn.

I frowned and said, "I don’t seem to know you, do I?"

Claude Avalynn replied with a faint smile, "You might not know me, but I have heard of you for a long time."

I said gravely, "Speak your mind, no need for the formalities."

Claude Avalynn glanced at Bella Tad and then laughed, "May I have a word with you privately?"

I shook my head, "There’s no need, he’s a friend. Just say what you’ve got to say."

Seeing this, Claude Avalynn simply sat down.

"Would you care for a drink?" Bella Tad poured a cup of wine for Claude Avalynn without asking.

Claude Avalynn didn’t hold back, he drank the wine in one gulp, then laughed, "Mason, I’m here because of the Exchange Meeting."

"The Exchange Meeting?" Upon hearing that, my pupils suddenly contracted!

"Yes, the Exchange Meeting will be held in three days in the Mystic Realm, and we are part of the organizers." Claude Avalynn explained with a smile.

I slightly narrowed my eyes, "What is your relationship with Saumel Baton?"

Claude Avalynn surprisedly exclaimed, "Saumel Baton? The Baton Family is also one of the organizers, could it be that he has already invited you?"

"Not really." I shook my head.

Claude Avalynn gave his chest a pat, "That’s good, because I’m here to invite you to the Exchange Meeting."

"Inviting me?" I raised an eyebrow, unable to suppress a smirk.

"Mr. Avalynn, as far as I know, the Exchange Meeting only has limited seats and it’s not easy to get one."

"But now you are actively inviting me, which makes me question your motives."

Claude Avalynn couldn’t help laughing, "Mr. Raymond, you’re making a mountain out of a molehill."

"The Exchange Meeting is held to make money and obtain resources, naturally, we hope more outstanding talents can participate."

"This way, we could earn more profits."

"We’ve heard about your achievements, Mr. Raymond. You’re an elder at the Divine Alchemist Pavilion and hold a sky-reaching formula in your hands."

"So, you are a person with rare talents and we naturally hope that you can participate."

I frowned slightly.

I stroked my chin and concluded that what Claude Avalynn had said seemed to make a lot of sense.

"What do you think, Mr. Raymond?" Claude Avalynn asked with a smile.

Bella Tad who was beside him mumbled, "What the hell is this Exchange Meeting? Why is it held in the Mystic Realm?"

Claude Avalynn didn’t pay attention to Bella Tad, he just focused on me, and laughed, "Mr. Raymond, please give me an answer as soon as possible. If you are unwilling to participate, we would have to choose someone else."

"Of course, I will." I laughed.

"However... I offended Saumel Baton, and he means to make sure I will not participate in the Exchange Meeting."

Claude Avalynn laughed, "Don’t worry about that, we Avalynns and the Wrights are not from the same Mystic Realm, hence, he doesn’t represent us."

After pondering for a moment, I stood up and said, "Then, thank you, Mr. Avalynn."

Claude Avalynn also quickly got up and said, "I should be the one thanking you."

The two of us shook hands, and then Claude Avalynn said, "Then, I won’t bother you anymore. See you in three days."

I nodded in agreement.

We exchanged contact information, and Claude Avalynn left.

After Claude Avalynn left, Bella Tad couldn’t help but ask, "What the hell is this Exchange Meeting?"

I pondered for a while and then explained everything to Bella Tad.

Bella was confused, finally, he waved his hand and said, "Forget it, I can’t be bothered with him anymore. Come on, let’s drink!"

The drinking session lasted till midnight, Bella was so happy that he got completely drunk.

I, however, was not affected by the alcohol. My mind was filled with recent events.

First off, it was the journey to the Mystic Realm by the Capital City Martial Arts Association, and now Claude Avalynn had personally invited me to the Exchange Meeting.

All of these events seemed too smooth, almost suspiciously so.

After sending Bella home, I returned directly to the house of the man with the mustache.

All night long, I didn’t sleep.

No matter how I thought about it, it felt strange but I couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

The next morning, I got out of bed.

I sat on the bed, stroking my chin, still carefully reviewing the recent events, hoping to spot a loophole.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door.

As the door opened, I saw Elena Green standing at the entrance.

Seeing Elena Green, my face instantly turned cold.

"What are you here for?" I asked coldly.

Elena Green bit her lower lip and said, "Mason Raymond, if I told you that I never knew about Saumel Baton’s intentions, would you believe me?"

"What do you think?" I laughed coldly.

"Everyone knows what Mabel’s body means, how come you don’t?"

Elena Green tried to explain, "Saumel Baton initially told me that he wanted to protect Mabel! He said he has always admired the Sean family, and Jerry Sean, which is why he wanted to protect Mabel!"

"And I also sought help from my father, asking him to help get people from the Capital City Martial Arts Association."

"Because I was rejected, I believed in Saumel Baton..."

Upon hearing this, my eyebrows furrowed slightly.

"Are you telling the truth?" I questioned.

Elena Green quickly nodded, "Definitely, I swear it on my cultivation!"

Seeing this, my expression softened.

"Come in, I have something I want to discuss with you." I said.

After inviting Elena Green in, I went straight to the point, "Let me ask you, is the information about the Exchange Meeting true?"

"Yes, I heard my father mention it, it should be true." Elena Green confirmed with a nod.

I stroked my chin and said, "I have a question, the Exchange Meeting is organized by several aristocratic families from the Mystic Realm, right?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Yes." Elena Green continued to nod.

"So... Are these aristocratic families in a good relationship with each other?" I inquired.
