Chapter 826: Chapter 826 The Demon I Freed
Based on what I read, the records definitely belonged to the masked woman.
I quickly looked down at the page.
Below stretched dense paragraphs packed with stories about the masked woman.
The book said she’d first shown up five thousand years back, murdering countless victims.
"Five thousand years ago... That had to be when she first pulled off a successful reincarnation," I thought to myself.
*I’d run into the masked woman inside the Immortal Slaying Sect before; she’d already wiped out the entire sect by then. That happened ten thousand years back.*
I kept reading, going through the whole Chapter without stopping.
After finishing, I discovered the masked woman had truly butchered tons of people five thousand years ago!
A sect leader just looked at her twice, and she destroyed his whole sect. Thousands of disciples, every single one from top to bottom, got wiped out completely.
Even worse, trash-talking her behind her back usually meant a brutal death.
Men, women, old folks, kids, her own parents from that time, relatives—nobody got spared. Everyone died by her hand.
"She chopped off her dad’s head at eight; murdered her mom at twelve; wiped out everyone in Sunspot Sect at fifteen."
"Her father was a famous righteous cultivator, incredibly powerful, a Nascent Soul elder."
"Her mother was a celebrated pill master known everywhere, crushed with one palm strike."
"At eighteen, using a purple sword, she flattened Featherly Mansion in a single blow; tens of thousands died, blood flowed like rivers."
"At nineteen... twenty..."
The text carefully documented the masked woman’s actions year after year.
She’d basically turned into everyone’s enemy back then. Big sects joined forces to bring back a supreme elder, hoping to take down the masked woman.
But it ended terribly; the elder never came back and got struck down in mid-air, his blood staining the sky.
*Reading this shook me to my core.*
*Killing a Nascent Soul Stage person at just eight years old?*
*In today’s world, that’d be like the Martial Saint Realm!*
The records showed the masked woman killed at least a hundred thousand people, all from famous righteous groups respected throughout the martial world.
But what I couldn’t wrap my head around most was—why did she kill her own parents, the people who brought her into this world?
I kept going, finding the book painted her as someone obsessed with killing, acting purely on whims, a threat that everyone should eliminate.
The record ended pretty soon after that.
I continued reading, discovering that every now and then, the masked woman would show up again each year but couldn’t get strong, dying early over and over.
So it looked like the masked woman had only managed one successful reincarnation.
"This lifetime must be her second successful reincarnation," I muttered, my face getting noticeably darker.
*If what the book said was real, Watson Thompson might actually become a disaster—a Demon Head drenched in blood!*
"She’s already reached the Martial Saint Realm and got her hands on the mask. Right now, nobody might be strong enough to stop her from rising."
*I couldn’t help feeling regret. If I’d known this before, I never would’ve let her walk away.*
*At minimum, I shouldn’t have pushed her toward cultivation!*
*Without me, Watson Thompson might never have remembered her past!*
I shut the book, my face full of worry.
The Scripture Pavilion records weren’t super detailed, but every word carried lingering terror of her.
You had to understand—these records talked about stuff from five thousand years ago! Back then, Martial Saints were already nothing special, and skilled cultivators were everywhere.
Even so, nobody could stand against her. What hope did we have in this current age?
"If I ever get the chance, I need to find a way to stop her," I took a deep breath.
*Since I freed her myself, it was only right that I take responsibility.*
I didn’t keep reading; though the book had records of many other people, I didn’t know any of them, so continuing wouldn’t help.
Two days had gone by now. Only a few hours remained before the third day ended.
Going downstairs, everyone was still buried in studying techniques.
Most of them had picked Earth Rank Techniques though.
For the remaining time, I casually grabbed a few techniques that worked with my cultivation method and started basic understanding.
Before I knew it, three days had passed.
Phoebe Billy showed up right on time at the entrance.
"Everyone, time’s up. Follow me out," Phoebe Billy announced.
Nobody wasted time, staying close behind Phoebe Billy as we left the Scripture Pavilion.
This Scripture Pavilion visit had been pretty rewarding for me.
Forget about just the two Divine Rank Techniques, even those two pieces of information made the whole trip worth it.
After we left the Scripture Pavilion, Pearson Bowman casually started talking with me: "Mr. Raymond, I gotta say, your gains this trip were definitely the biggest—two Divine Rank Techniques! Really makes me jealous."
I laughed, "Just got lucky."
Changing topics, I asked, "By the way, have you heard any stories about Guardians?"
"Guardians?" Pearson Bowman looked confused; clearly he didn’t know anything about it.
"I’ve heard about them," Elena Green cut in, stepping closer.
I glanced at her, saying, "Miss Green."
Elena Green smiled, "Mr. Raymond means the deal between Martial Saints and Guardians, right?"
"Exactly," I nodded quickly.
"Miss Green, what do you know about this?"
Elena Green smiled, "This isn’t the best place to talk about it. Should we find somewhere more private?"
"Sure," I agreed, nodding.
Just as we were about to leave, Cedric Barnes suddenly walked over from far away.
Standing next to me, he grinned mockingly and said, "Mason Raymond, my uncle told me to give you a message—don’t get too cocky. These days, martial arts don’t mean squat. Without money backing you up, it’s all worthless in the end."
I sneered, "Go back and tell your uncle I don’t want trouble with him. But if he messes with me, I won’t think twice about crushing his business empire."
"Big talk! Let me tell you, compared to money, you’re just a bug! Don’t cross the line!" Cedric Barnes warned coldly.
After throwing out those words, Cedric Barnes turned to walk away.
"Wait." Right then, I stepped forward, putting my hand on Cedric Barnes’s shoulder.
Cedric Barnes felt like his shoulder was carrying a mountain’s weight; he couldn’t budge.
"What are you doing!" Cedric Barnes asked coldly.
I ignored him and asked, "Where’s the closest bathroom?"
Phoebe Billy pointed in the distance, saying, "The bathroom’s over there."
I nodded and, grabbing Cedric Barnes by his collar, said, "Come with me."
Cedric Barnes figured out what was happening, panic flashing in his eyes as he stammered nervously, "You... What are you doing!"
I smirked coldly, "I’d totally forgotten about you, worthless as you are. Why’d you have to show up and act so stupid?"
"Today’s gonna teach you a lesson, and send a warning to your uncle Steve Barnes. Come with me!"
After saying that, I dragged Cedric Barnes and headed toward the bathroom.
