Chapter 823: Chapter 823 A Day Is Too Long

The Scripture Pavilion’s light was weak. I pushed through the ache in my body, scanning the room with my eyes.

The first three floors held mostly technique records.

The fourth floor contained martial arts history records.

I couldn’t stop myself from saying: "Three whole floors of techniques - tracking down the Spirit binding technique is going to be tough."

With just three days to work with, hunting for the Spirit binding technique felt like searching for a needle in a haystack for me.

But right now, I had no other option. I had to go through the books one by one.

The Capital City Martial Arts Association housed countless books, many passed down from Western Buddhism.

I grabbed book after book, and before I knew it, half the day was gone, but I still hadn’t located the Spirit binding technique.

Watching my pace, Pearson Bowman looked surprised: "Mr. Raymond, none of these techniques catch your eye?"

I looked his way and gave a casual answer: "Yeah, they don’t fit me."

After a pause, Pearson Bowman grinned and said, "Mr. Raymond, I actually know a technique that would be perfect for you."

With that, Pearson Bowman hurried over to a specific bookshelf.

Soon after, he returned holding a technique manual.

Pearson offered the technique to me and said, "This is a Divine Rank Technique, and it’s a perfect match for your body type. You should try it out."

I took the manual and saw the technique was called the vajra sacred physique.

This reminded me of my Saintly Body Skill - both focused on boosting physical toughness and power.

But the vajra sacred physique clearly outclassed the Saintly Body Skill.

The Saintly Body Skill was just entry-level stuff, and it wasn’t doing much for me anymore.

"This really is solid technique, and it fits me perfectly." I gave a small nod.

I turned to Pearson Bowman and smiled, "Thanks."

Pearson brushed it off and said, "Don’t mention it, Mr. Raymond."

I could tell Pearson Bowman had an easygoing nature - the type who avoided making enemies.

"Mason Raymond, you’ve got some nerve taking that!"

Right then, a young guy approached from across the room.

I glanced at him and frowned, "Who are you?"

The young man replied coolly, "I’m Cedric Barnes, from Sea City."

"Cedric Barnes?" Hearing that name triggered a memory.

"How do you know Steve Barnes from Sea City?"

Cedric Barnes gave a slight smile, "Steve Barnes is my uncle!"

I got it now.

I’d had issues with Steve Barnes before, so naturally Cedric Barnes had it out for me.

"Cedric’s got a point - there’s no way you’ll master this Divine Rank Technique." Zora Solomon walked over too.

"What’s that supposed to mean?" I asked.

Zora Solomon let out a harsh laugh, "Mastering a Divine Rank Technique takes a week minimum! And that’s lightning fast!"

"Phoebe Billy only gave us three days. What good is grabbing this Divine Rank Technique?"

Pearson Bowman added, "He’s right. Out of all of us, Alberto Sean is the quickest at learning techniques, and it took him six days to master a Divine Rank Technique."

I shook the vajra sacred physique manual and smiled, "I won’t even need three days. I can master this vajra sacred physique in a day, tops."

This wasn’t my first time with a Divine Rank Technique.

My father’s memories included Divine Rank Techniques too.

Take the Nine Absolute Beginning Slashes - I mastered that in under a day.

"Hah, what a load of bull," Cedric Barnes mocked.

"Even an Earth Rank Skill takes three days minimum."

"Mr. Raymond, mastering a Divine Rank Technique really isn’t that easy." Elena Green stepped forward to talk me out of it.

"Rather than burning all three days on this Divine Rank Technique, you’d be better off picking an Earth Rank Skill."

"Miss Green, I recall you managed to master a Divine Rank Technique in just four days, correct?" Males Ran suddenly chimed in.

At those words, everyone looked stunned.

"Miss Green beat Alberto Sean’s time?"

"I figured Alberto Sean hitting six days was already amazing, but Miss Green did it in four!"

Elena Green said modestly, "That was just luck - normally I’d need a full week."

"Tsk, Miss Green is just being humble." Wayne Ran called out.

"Mason Raymond, pick something else. I made a mistake earlier." Pearson Bowman said with regret.

"No, I’m sticking with this one." I held up the vajra sacred physique manual.

"Like I said, I only need a day at most to master this vajra sacred physique."

"You’re really full of it." Someone jeered.

"You’re tough, Mason Raymond, but are you really the best at everything?"

Cedric Barnes crossed his arms and sneered, "If you can master this vajra sacred physique in one day, I’ll eat crap while doing a handstand."

I raised an eyebrow and said, "For real?"

Cedric Barnes scoffed, "If you can master a Divine Rank Technique in one day, I’ll do anything you want."

"Deal." I didn’t waste more words with him and walked off to the side with the book.

Seeing this, everyone shook their heads in defeat.

Even Elena Green felt pretty helpless.

In her mind, there was no chance I could master a Divine Rank Technique in just one day.

Or better put, nobody could master a Divine Rank Technique in a single day!

"Mason Raymond is just too stubborn." Elena Green said with resignation.

Zora Solomon nearby snorted coldly, "Trying to pull off the impossible - is that being stubborn? Looks like pure foolishness to me."

Elena Green chuckled but kept quiet.

Everyone else brushed off the bet between me and Cedric Barnes too.

After all, in their minds, I could never pull it off.

Time ticked by minute by minute.

Before long, the sky started getting dark.

Meanwhile, I had spent four solid hours working on the technique.

Everyone else clutched technique books, but most had picked Earth Rank Skills.

Right then, Elena Green’s body glowed with bright light, and she got up first.

She rubbed her pale neck, looking pretty worn out.

After that, Zora Solomon and the others started waking up one by one.

"You beat me?" Seeing Elena Green wake up first, Zora Solomon’ eyebrows creased slightly.

Elena Green smiled and said, "I just barely got it."

"Miss Green is being humble again." Wilbert Jaxon walked over with a laugh.

"I have to say, Miss Green’s speed is really something to envy." Males Ran nodded too.

Just as everyone was complimenting Elena Green, golden light suddenly burst from my body nearby.

This glow wrapped around my body, like floating golden liquid.

In moments, a calm energy flowed out from my body.

"What... what’s happening?" Everyone’s eyes went wide.

"He’s got the vajra sacred physique, and this scene... looks like what happens when someone masters the vajra sacred physique!"

"No way! He mastered a Divine Rank Technique in just four hours?!"
