Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Mabel Sean Kidnapped
I looked at Jasper Thompson for a moment before finally taking a seat.
I was actually pretty curious about what Carter Hill would say.
"Mason, I didn’t expect you to grow so fast," Jasper Thompson said, his tone polite.
Carter Hill also sighed. "These days, young people really amaze us."
I glanced at Carter Hill and said, "If you’ve got something to say, just spit it out. I’m pretty busy, and I’ve got stuff to handle later."
Jasper Thompson’s brow creased slightly, clearly annoyed with my attitude.
But given how things stood, he couldn’t say much and turned to Carter Hill instead.
Carter Hill cleared his throat and said, "Mason, from start to finish, our Hill family didn’t do anything wrong here."
"You busted my son’s arm, but I didn’t take any harsh steps. So, when you think about it, seems like we don’t have any bad blood that can’t be fixed, right?" Carter Hill said with a grin.
I stared at Carter Hill and said with a smirk, "Carter, is that really what you think? If I didn’t have the Soul Nourishment Pill, would you be sitting here having a nice chat with me?"
Carter Hill burst out laughing. "Nothing’s set in stone."
I sneered over and over.
I had already sworn to Mabel Sean that even if Carter Hill got on his knees and begged, I would never throw him a lifeline.
Guys like Carter Hill, once they got back on their feet, would definitely stab you in the back.
Jasper Thompson coughed and said, "This thing has to end somehow. We’re all sitting here today, showing me respect. How about we do this?"
He stopped and pointed at Carter Hill. "Both your families team up, get stronger together, and make cash together. Wouldn’t that be great?"
"Yes, yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking! With our Hill family’s power and the Soul Nourishment Pill in your hands, we’ll definitely make it big!" Carter Hill quickly grabbed a wine glass and said.
But I didn’t show any sign of picking up the wine glass, just kept sneering.
"Carter, what makes you think you’re qualified to work with me now?" I asked coldly.
Carter Hill’s face shifted instantly. He hadn’t expected me to be so blunt! He also hadn’t expected me to be so cocky!
"Carter, let me be straight with you, I can fix your son’s arm, and when I first ran into you, I had thought about healing his arm," I said coldly.
"But too bad your stuck-up attitude made me think twice."
"By now, I have zero interest in having anything to do with you."
After hearing my words, Carter Hill quickly asked with some panic, "Mason, are you serious? Can you really fix my son’s arm?"
"Absolutely," I said coldly.
Carter Hill’s face lit up with excitement.
He swallowed hard and begged, "Mason, if you can heal my son’s arm, I’m ready to agree to anything!"
"I can give you 10%...no, 30% of my company’s shares!" Carter Hill said frantically.
I shook my head. "I told you, I absolutely won’t work with you."
Carter Hill clenched his teeth and said, "Forget the partnership for now. Just heal my son’s arm, please!"
After saying that, Carter Hill actually got up and dropped to his knees in front of me.
This shocked me big time.
I couldn’t believe that someone like Carter Hill would lower himself to kneel before me!
"A father’s love really runs deep," I couldn’t help but think.
I thought it over for a moment and then said, "I can heal your son’s arm, but... partnership is absolutely out of the question unless you’re willing to work for me."
Carter Hill gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, I agree!"
I nodded slightly and said, "Tell your son to come to my place tomorrow."
"Yes, yes!" Carter Hill stood up and thanked me over and over.
Jasper Thompson, sitting next to us, was deep in thought.
Right then, his view of me changed somehow.
He originally thought I was a worthless guy, but through tonight’s dinner, Jasper Thompson figured out that I had good judgment and big dreams.
Facing the olive branch the Hill family threw out, I had no interest in it, and instead chose to swallow them whole.
For regular folks, this might be too harsh, but it was a must-have rule for business.
For a young guy who had just jumped into the business world, it was really surprising to Jasper Thompson.
"Let’s hope everything goes well!" Jasper Thompson raised his wine glass and said with a smile.
This time, I picked up my wine glass.
Just as we were about to clink glasses, my phone suddenly rang.
I picked up the phone and saw it was Mabel Sean’s secretary calling.
I couldn’t help but frown as I put down the wine glass and said politely, "Sorry, I need to take this call first."
As soon as I answered, I heard the secretary say frantically, "Mason, Miss Mabel has been kidnapped!"
"What?!" My face changed instantly, and a deadly aura filled the whole room!
"What happened?" I asked urgently.
The secretary quickly filled me in on the situation.
"I’ve notified everyone in River City, but Miss Mabel’s location is still unknown," the secretary said painfully.
My face was ice cold, and rage shot straight to my head!
For me, Mabel Sean was the light of my life.
I could ignore everything else, but I would never let anyone hurt Mabel!
I took a deep breath and said, "I’m heading over right now."
"Mason, what happened?" After I hung up, Jasper Thompson asked.
I didn’t have time to explain, so I looked at Jasper Thompson and said, "Let me borrow your car."
"Huh? If something’s up, I can have someone drive you," Jasper Thompson said.
"No need." I grabbed the car keys from the table and walked off without another word.
On the road, I raced to the Sean family’s Estate, pushing the gas pedal almost to the breaking point, and blowing through countless red lights.
People on the street cursed at me and saw me as some street racer.
——
After Mason left, Jasper Thompson quickly got a call and learned the news.
When he hung up, Jasper Thompson’s face turned nasty.
"Jasper, what’s going on?" Carter Hill asked, confused.
Jasper Thompson took a deep breath and said seriously, "Someone kidnapped Mabel Sean."
"What?!" Hearing this, Carter Hill shot up!
"Who... Who’s got that kind of nerve? Don’t they want to live?" Carter Hill stared wide-eyed and shouted in shock.
Jasper Thompson didn’t say anything, just sighed. "River City... I’m afraid things are about to change."
