Chapter 812: Chapter 812 A Father Comes Calling
Ms. Zackary’s panic was instant when she heard this.
She jumped to her feet, voice tight with worry. "My respected leaders, please think about all the years I’ve served the Capital City Martial Arts Association faithfully. Give me one more shot!"
One leader’s voice cut through the air like ice. "It’s exactly because of what you’ve done for the Capital City Martial Arts Association that we’re letting you clean this up yourself."
Ms. Zackary’s jaw clenched hard. "Just give me a few more days, okay?"
"Three days. That’s it. After that, we want to see results that make us happy," another leader said, voice just as cold.
"Ms. Zackary, we really hope you don’t screw this up."
The leaders faded away after dropping those words, leaving Ms. Zackary alone with her racing thoughts.
Tears started forming in Ms. Zackary’s eyes. She’d never seen this coming.
"Mason Raymond... This is all because of you... Mason Raymond!!!" Ms. Zackary’s furious scream bounced off every wall in the room.
Back at home, Leticia was pacing, waiting for her return.
When Ms. Zackary walked in, Leticia shot up from his chair.
"Ms. Zackary, you okay?" Leticia moved closer, concern written all over his face.
Ms. Zackary pushed a smile onto her face, trying to look gentle.
"I’m good," Ms. Zackary said with a laugh.
"Leticia, whatever happens, I’m going to keep you safe," Ms. Zackary promised silently.
...
Right then, I was already carrying Mabel Sean, racing toward the Divine Alchemist Pavilion.
The second I burst through the doors, I shouted with everything I had. "Lord Pavilion Master! Lord Pavilion Master!"
My voice, packed with spiritual power, made the whole Divine Alchemist Pavilion shake and hum.
Tons of alchemists who’d been sleeping got jolted awake.
While everyone was freaking out, the Pavilion Master was already floating down from upstairs.
She stared at me covered in blood and Mabel lying in my arms, surprise flashing across her face.
"You... actually managed to save her?" The Pavilion Master sounded like she couldn’t quite believe it.
"Really... stealing food right from a tiger’s mouth." Paul Randall strolled over from the side.
But I wasn’t in the mood for their compliments. My voice came out desperate. "Lord Pavilion Master, Mabel’s hurt bad right now. Can you... save her?"
The Pavilion Master didn’t waste time with words. She took Mabel from my arms and spun around, heading straight upstairs.
"Just wait down here," the Pavilion Master shot me a look before speaking.
Even though my nerves were eating me alive, there wasn’t anything else I could do except stand there and wait.
...
The next day.
Inside a skyscraper in Capital City.
This was where the Sean family ran their business.
In the meeting room, Ms. Zackary and Logan Sean sat across from each other.
"Ms. Zackary, you’re telling me Mabel Sean got taken by Mason Raymond?" Logan Sean’s face went dark.
Ms. Zackary gave a nod. "Last night."
Logan Sean exploded, his fist crashing down on the table!
"We trusted your Capital City Martial Arts Association with our Sean family member, and this is what we get?!" Logan Sean’s voice boomed with rage.
Even Ms. Zackary went quiet when faced with Logan Sean’s fury.
After staying silent for a bit, Ms. Zackary spoke up. "Mr. Sean, Mabel belongs to your Sean family. You’ve got every right to bring her home."
Logan Sean let out a harsh laugh. "You lost her, and now you want me to go get her back?"
Ms. Zackary’s teeth ground together as she spoke in a tone that sounded almost like begging. "Mr. Sean, this is the Capital City Martial Arts Association’s screw-up. Please, help us out!"
"Just bring her back, and our Capital City Martial Arts Association won’t forget this favor!"
Logan Sean responded with a sneer.
Just when he was about to say no, Alberto Sean walked back in.
"Ms. Zackary, we can do what you’re asking," Alberto Sean said.
Logan Sean’s eyebrows pulled together, looking confused.
Ms. Zackary’s face lit up. "Thank you, Mr. Tenny!"
"But here’s the thing. Now that Mason Raymond’s taken Mabel and run off, he could be anywhere, right? Where are we supposed to look?" Alberto Sean asked, sounding puzzled.
Ms. Zackary jumped in fast. "Mason Raymond definitely went to the Divine Alchemist Pavilion! Mabel’s badly hurt, so the only place he can get help is the Divine Alchemist Pavilion!"
Alberto Sean went quiet for a moment before saying, "Got it."
After Ms. Zackary left, Logan Sean’s voice turned serious. "Alberto, this makes twice now."
Alberto let out a heavy breath. "Dad, Mabel Sean is the reason for both times. No matter what, we can’t let her keep training!"
"I’m not doing this for the Capital City Martial Arts Association at all. I’m doing this for me!"
"Once Mabel gets into cultivation, she’ll be way stronger than me!"
Logan Sean’s forehead creased. "Mabel Sean really worries you that much?"
"Dad, you didn’t get her bloodline, so you have no clue what kind of power it holds," Alberto Sean shook his head.
"Everyone’s always called me Pyro’s top young talent, and I’ve always felt pretty good about myself."
"But ever since I got Mabel’s bloodline, I suddenly saw that who I was before... was just some tiny ant! Nothing special at all!"
When Logan Sean heard his son’s words, his expression got serious too.
"But... Would Mason Raymond just hand her over?" Logan Sean asked with doubt.
"Hell no." Alberto Sean’s smile turned nasty.
"That’s why we need Soren Sean’s help. He’s Mabel’s father, so he’s got every right to take her back! If Mason Raymond won’t let her go, then we’ll charge him with kidnapping!"
Logan Sean didn’t argue, and they both left the company right away to find Soren Sean.
"Mabel got taken by Mason Raymond?!" Soren Sean looked surprised, but inside he was completely shocked.
Growing up in Capital City, Soren Sean knew exactly what the Capital City Martial Arts Association meant.
"Your daughter got kidnapped by Mason Raymond. You need to come with us and get her back," Logan Sean said coldly.
"We can’t let some outsider kid take a Sean family member! This is about the Sean family’s honor!"
Soren Sean had no idea about the nasty plans going through Logan Sean and his son’s minds.
Plus, he really missed his daughter Mabel.
So he agreed without thinking too hard about it.
The group rushed to the Divine Alchemist Pavilion right away.
Right now, the Pavilion Master still hadn’t come downstairs.
I stood below, catching whiffs of medicine smells here and there and sometimes seeing Pill Clouds forming in the sky.
A whole night had gone by with no news, and my anxiety was through the roof.
"Master Raymond, there are people outside saying they’re from the Sean family and they want to see you!" Someone suddenly ran up to me.
"The Sean family?" My eyebrows pulled together tight.
"Man with the mustache, keep watch here. I’m going to check this out," I told the man with the mustache.
After saying that, I headed fast toward the entrance.
