Chapter 798: Chapter 798 The Price of Forgiveness
Ms. Zackary’s expression darkened, having initially intended to seize the corpse by force with her Martial Saint Weapon.
Yet somehow, an inexplicable dread crept into her heart when she confronted me.
She couldn’t determine whether this fear stemmed from the two bodies or from me directly.
After deliberating briefly, Ms. Zackary scoffed coldly, "I expect you to honor your promise, or the Capital City Martial Arts Association will make you pay!"
With those harsh words, Ms. Zackary spun around and departed.
Observing her departing silhouette, I couldn’t suppress a cold laugh.
"Bring it on, let’s discover who’s mightier with identical Martial Saint Power," I mocked.
——
Ms. Zackary arrived back at her dwelling.
She gazed at Leticia clinging to her form and her lips curved into a satisfied smile.
"The leadership has approved and will provide me with the transformation pill tomorrow," Ms. Zackary announced cheerfully.
"When that happens, you’ll regain your human appearance."
Upon hearing this news, Leticia pressed his massive head tenderly against Ms. Zackary.
At that moment, Ms. Zackary released a soft sigh and murmured quietly, "Since Mason Raymond emerged, Capital City has grown increasingly turbulent."
At the mention of my name, Leticia immediately extended his tongue and his frame shuddered faintly.
Furious energy saturated the room, making the entire structure vibrate.
Ms. Zackary soothed him, "I understand your hatred toward him, don’t worry, once you regain human form, I’ll provide you with a chance."
Hearing this promise, Leticia’s quaking body settled somewhat.
——
Throughout the subsequent days, I remained within the mustached man’s residence.
On this particular day, I had just retrieved the creation powers from my Spatial Magic Artifact when someone entered from outside.
"Mason Raymond, you have a visitor," the newcomer announced—a staff member from the Martial Arts Academy.
I glanced at him with a frown, "A visitor? Who wants to see me?"
"Aiden Eve, Leader of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets."
At this name, I couldn’t help lifting my eyebrows.
The Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets Leader? Coming to my doorstep?
"Understood, I’ll be right out," I replied.
I stored away the creation powers and a sneer tugged at my lips.
It appeared the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets Leader intended to settle our score.
I rose and strode out of the Martial Arts Academy with determined steps.
At the academy entrance, an elderly man and a young man stood waiting.
These two were the father-son pair from the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets.
Three additional individuals stood behind them.
The trio carried boxes of varying dimensions that resembled presents.
I approached Aiden Eve directly and grinned, "Lord Eve, what brings you to visit me?"
Aiden Eve bowed respectfully and explained, "Several days ago, I departed on official business and was away for an extended period. I left the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets under my son’s management."
"I never anticipated my son would commit such a grave offense. Upon learning of it, I immediately brought generous gifts to seek your forgiveness."
"Seek forgiveness?" Surprise flickered across my features.
This development caught me off guard.
Aiden Eve exhaled deeply, "My son has been spoiled since birth and lacks proper etiquette. Please show mercy, Mr. Raymond."
As the old saying goes, one shouldn’t strike someone who comes with a smile.
Given Aiden Eve’s demeanor, it was challenging for me to maintain anger.
"You’re being overly courteous, Lord Eve," I responded coolly.
Aiden Eve sighed softly and continued, "His behavior hasn’t just harmed himself but has also tarnished the entire Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets! It’s brought shame upon my organization!"
Following this statement, Aiden Eve shot a fierce look at Vivi Eve and barked, "Apologize to Mr. Raymond immediately!"
Vivi Eve quickly stepped toward me, bowed, and said, "Mr. Raymond, I apologize for my disrespectful behavior and for offending you. Please show forgiveness."
I frowned suspiciously.
This didn’t align with Vivi Eve’s typical behavior.
"It’s fine," I dismissed with a wave.
"Express your gratitude to Mr. Raymond!" Aiden Eve commanded.
Vivi Eve promptly bowed again and said, "Thank you for your mercy, Mr. Raymond!"
Then, Aiden Eve turned to his group and smiled, "Mr. Raymond, these are modest tokens of appreciation. Please accept them as our apology."
I examined the boxes.
I extended my spiritual awareness and discovered the containers held magical artifacts.
While these magical artifacts weren’t premium quality, they could still be classified as fine items.
I waved my hands dismissively, "Lord Eve is being too generous. I’ll accept your apology, but please retrieve these gifts."
Aiden Eve’s expression grew stern, "That’s unacceptable. When someone errs, they must face consequences. It’s the proper way!"
"Deliver those items to Mr. Raymond now!" Aiden Eve shouted.
Several people immediately lifted the boxes and headed toward the Martial Arts Academy.
Unfortunately, outsiders were prohibited from entering, so they could only place the boxes at the gate.
This display genuinely surprised me.
If Aiden Eve possessed such character, how could he have raised someone as rude as Vivi Eve? It didn’t add up.
I stayed quiet for a moment and said, "Lord Eve, do you have additional business? If there’s something else, please speak directly."
"I appreciate Mr. Raymond’s straightforward nature," Aiden Eve chuckled.
"Then I’ll be frank. You previously acquired a Spatial Magic Artifact Ring from the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets, correct?"
I smiled, "That’s accurate."
Aiden Eve quickly said, "That Spatial Magic Artifact holds great significance for me. I request that Mr. Raymond return it. If you prefer, I can provide you with a different Spatial Magic Artifact."
So he did have an ulterior motive!
That said, since I had originally stolen the Spatial Magic Artifact, returning it wouldn’t be entirely unreasonable.
"The Spatial Magic Artifact isn’t with me currently." However, after considering it, I decided to deliberate further.
Aiden Eve’s brow creased slightly, and he said, "Mr. Raymond, why don’t you... retrieve it? I’ll remain here waiting."
I smiled, "How about this—let’s wait several days. I’ll deliver it to the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets in a few days."
Aiden Eve frowned, "Mr. Raymond, this item is extremely important to me. You should fetch it now."
"Listen, I’ve stored numerous items in the Spatial Magic Artifact. Even organizing everything will require several days. Why the urgency, Lord Eve?"
Aiden Eve started to respond but then shifted course with a smile, "Very well, I’m not rushed. Tomorrow I’ll prepare a feast at the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets and await Mr. Raymond’s arrival."
"Agreed," I nodded, accepting the arrangement.
"Then I won’t disturb you further." Aiden Eve offered me a slight bow, then departed with Vivi Eve.
——
After they walked away, Aiden Eve’s face suddenly turned cold.
"Dad, that punk is too arrogant! He really doesn’t value the respect others show him!" Vivi Eve couldn’t resist cursing.
Aiden Eve looked at Vivi Eve and snorted coldly, "Let him act arrogant for now. Once I retrieve the ring, I’ll make him pay!"
