Chapter 797: Chapter 797 The Bodies As Stakes

Ms. Zackary shot to her feet. "You can count on me! I’ll get it done!"

She suddenly lifted her head. "Esteemed executives, I need to ask for something."

"Ask for what?" one executive said icily.

Ms. Zackary clenched her jaw. "I need a transformation pill..."

The room went quiet. Then came a cold voice. "For your Heaven Swallowing Python?"

"Yes..." Ms. Zackary dropped her gaze.

An executive spoke with frost in his tone. "Ms. Zackary, you’ve worked for the Capital City Martial Arts Association for years. You know better than to get attached. It compromises the entire organization."

"Exactly. When your heart’s tied down, your blade gets dull," another added.

Ms. Zackary looked up, desperation in her voice. "I’ve given everything to the Association. Never married, never had kids. Leticia is all I have left."

"Please, considering everything I’ve sacrificed, grant me this pill!"

The executives seemed to waver.

After a pause, one said, "Pick it up in three days."

Ms. Zackary dropped into a deep bow. "Thank you, esteemed executives!"

She rushed out of the meeting room and headed straight for the mustached man’s house.

The mansion stood empty.

——

Meanwhile, Phoebe Billy was frantically dialing my number.

I hadn’t boarded my flight yet, so my phone was still on.

When I picked up, Phoebe filled me in on everything.

"You need to hide that girl and those bodies right now," Phoebe said, his voice tense.

I rubbed my chin and chuckled. "Figured they’d pull something like this. Don’t sweat it, I’ve got it covered."

——

The plane cut through the night sky.

By the time I touched down in Pyro, it was past midnight.

After thinking it through, I decided to stash the coffin, paintings, and bodies in River City.

My hometown. The safest spot I knew.

That same night, I raced back to River City and buried the coffin in my family’s backyard.

By the time I finished, dawn was breaking.

I wiped sweat from my forehead and looked around. "Been way too long since I’ve been back."

There were people here I owed debts to, but I couldn’t spare the time.

So I kept quiet about being back and drove straight to the Capital City Martial Arts Academy at first light.

When I got to the mustached man’s place, two purple-robed figures were standing guard at the entrance.

I walked right up to them. "Hey there, purple robe guys. What brings you here?"

The two exchanged glances. "Mason Raymond, where the hell have you been these past few days! You should’ve told us you were leaving!"

I snorted. "Pretty sure I don’t need to report my movements to you."

The purple-robed figures went rigid. "You’re involved in serious business now. We’re restricting your travel temporarily. Hope you’ll cooperate."

"Cooperate my ass!" I said, irritation creeping into my voice.

"Go tell Ms. Zackary if she’s got something to say, spit it out and stop wasting my time."

I moved toward the entrance.

But the two purple-robed figures stepped forward, blocking my path.

My face went cold and murderous intent exploded from me!

Feeling that killing intent, both figures flinched back. Even the mustached man’s face went pale!

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, let’s all chill out. If there’s a problem, let Ms. Zackary sort it out," the mustached man jumped in quickly.

The two figures, already spooked, took the out he gave them and backed off fast.

Once they were gone, the mustached man frowned. "Mason, you really need to keep that killing intent in check."

I frowned too.

Ever since I reached Martial Saint power, this murderous spirit felt out of control, ready to burst out any second.

"If you hadn’t stepped in just now, I might’ve killed both of them," I said quietly.

The mustached man gave a bitter laugh. "Keep this up and I’m gonna worry you’ll turn into the next masked woman."

It wasn’t just him worrying. I was getting concerned myself.

Back at my place, the mustached man and I quickly cleaned up.

Thirty minutes later, Ms. Zackary showed up with several purple-robed figures and burst in.

"Surround the house!" Ms. Zackary barked.

"Yes!" The purple-robed figures quickly encircled the mansion.

Ms. Zackary herself marched into the house.

I was sitting in the main hall sipping tea, looking pretty pleased with myself.

"Mason, you’re finally back," Ms. Zackary said icily.

I raised an eyebrow. "You old beast, you’ve got some serious staying power. Thought you were dead."

Ms. Zackary’s expression turned arctic. "Hand over those bodies now!"

I set down my teacup. "If I give them to you, aren’t you worried they’ll slap you to death?"

Clear fear flashed across Ms. Zackary’s face and she instinctively stepped back.

Obviously, last time had left its mark on her.

Ms. Zackary took a deep breath and said sternly, "Mason, I’m here on orders from above to retrieve those bodies and that little girl."

"This isn’t personal between you and me. It’s a direct order from the top brass of the Capital City Martial Arts Association!"

I let out a cold laugh. "What gives them the right to order me around? They’re your bosses, not mine."

"Want the bodies? Fine. Hand over Mabel Sean in exchange!"

Ms. Zackary’s expression went ice cold.

"Mason, I’d suggest you don’t push your luck!" Ms. Zackary’s aura filled with killing intent.

My eyes narrowed and my own murderous aura erupted!

"You threatening me?" I stood up.

My aura was overwhelmingly powerful, crushing Ms. Zackary’s instantly!

Even Ms. Zackary couldn’t help but change color.

I glanced at the weapon in her hand and smirked coldly. "The Martial Saint Weapon? What, planning to steal it?"

Ms. Zackary opened her mouth but couldn’t get words out.

For some reason, she suddenly felt like the Mason standing before her was different than before.

"How about we handle it this way?" The mustached man, worried I might lose control of my killing intent, quickly stood up.

"The fight between Mason and Leticia isn’t settled yet. Let’s use the two bodies as stakes."

"If Mason wins, you take him to the secret realm where Mabel Sean’s being held. If Leticia wins, Mason hands over the two bodies. Sound fair?"

I looked at the mustached man and laughed without hesitation. "Alright, I’m in."
