Chapter 779: Chapter 779 The Poison and The Power
"Yeah, it’s just some busted ring, what’s got you so worked up..." Vivi Eve mumbled under his breath.
Aiden Eve clenched his jaw and smacked Vivi across the face!
"Busted ring? Do you have any clue what kind of secret that Spatial Magic Artifact holds?! You worthless piece of trash!" Aiden Eve snarled through clenched teeth.
"I put in endless work to get my hands on that ring, and now it’s gone because of your stupidity!"
Vivi clutched his cheek and whispered, "Well, can’t we just take it back? Would Mason Raymond really dare cross our Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets?"
"If he was scared of our Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets, he wouldn’t have beaten you up, you useless waste!" Aiden Eve said icily.
"Listen here, if you don’t track down that ring, I’m breaking your legs!"
Right then, Vivi finally understood something was seriously wrong.
He whispered, "Dad, what...what do we do now?"
Aiden Eve drew in a long breath and said, "We can only hope he hasn’t discovered the secret hidden in that Spatial Magic Artifact."
After those words, Aiden Eve went quiet.
A moment later, Aiden Eve let out a heavy sigh, "Keep him calm first and go make things right with him."
"Bring some Dharma Treasures and trade them for that ring!"
——
By this time, the man with the mustache and I had gotten to the airport early.
The Pavilion Master had also sent me an address.
Looking at this address, it seemed familiar somehow.
"Cordelia Kingdom..." I muttered to myself.
I’d been to this place before.
Back then, I went there to treat Kathleen Drake’s father’s condition.
"What are the odds." I thought.
"I’ve already reached out to Tilda Maxwayne, so getting the Power of Martial Saint is up to you now." The Pavilion Master said in a message.
I tucked my phone away.
I took a deep breath and whispered, "Whatever it takes, I’m getting that Power of Martial Saint!"
I booked the next available flight, and by early morning, we were heading to Cordelia Kingdom.
Over ten hours later.
The plane touched down successfully in Cordelia Kingdom.
After stepping off the plane, I took a deep breath and couldn’t help feeling a bit nostalgic.
"Last time I came to Cordelia Kingdom, I was just starting out on the cultivation path, how time flies." I couldn’t help but think.
It felt like ages since I’d last seen Kathleen Drake.
Over the past two years, I’d been completely absorbed in cultivation and hadn’t touched the secular world in forever.
"Since I’m here anyway, I’ll drop by the Drake Family if I get the chance." I thought to myself.
Right then, the man with the mustache pointed to a car in the distance and said, "That car’s probably here for us."
I looked over and spotted a car with my name displayed on it.
So we both headed straight for the car.
As we got closer, two people climbed out of the car.
They walked to the back and pulled open the car door, revealing a woman in her twenties.
"Are you Mason Raymond?" The woman asked straight up.
I nodded and said, "Are you Miss Tilda Maxwayne?"
"Miss?" The woman couldn’t help but laugh softly, covering her mouth.
"Given my age, you should call me Auntie."
"Auntie?" I scratched my head.
But thinking about it, since Tilda Maxwayne was friends with the Lord Pavilion Master, she had to be around the same age.
"Aunt Tilda, good to meet you." I quickly fixed my mistake.
Tilda Maxwayne smiled and said, "Get in the car."
Without any delay, the man with the mustache and I climbed right into the car.
Once we were in the car, Tilda Maxwayne looked me over from head to toe, then sighed, "The Pavilion Master keeps going on about you, saying your alchemy skills are just as good as hers."
I quickly waved my hands, "She’s being way too generous, there’s no way I can match up to the Lord Pavilion Master."
"Don’t sell yourself short. She also mentioned that you’d be the first Martial Saint of this generation." Tilda Maxwayne went on.
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
The first Martial Saint?
Over the last few days, I’d heard that phrase multiple times.
"By the way, can you make a concentric pill?" Right then, Tilda Maxwayne suddenly asked.
I answered, "Should be doable. Aunt Tilda...mind if I ask what this concentric pill does?"
Hearing my response, a hint of confusion crossed Tilda Maxwayne’s face.
I explained, "I was rushing to get here, so I didn’t have time to research, but don’t worry, since I’m here, I’ll definitely deliver what you need."
Seeing that, Tilda Maxwayne nodded and said, "A few years back, my father got poisoned. This poison is really weird, and supposedly only concentric pills can fix it."
"All these years, we’ve tried everything, but nothing worked, so we’re banking everything on the concentric pill."
"Poison treatment..." I nodded quietly.
Treating poison shouldn’t be too tough normally.
But considering what the Maxwayne family could pull off, they must have tried regular pills already.
Since those didn’t work, that was proof enough that this poison wasn’t ordinary.
"So, any issues?" Tilda Maxwayne asked.
I quickly nodded and said, "No issues at all."
At this point, I suddenly remembered the whole Power of Martial Saint situation.
So I said, "Aunt Tilda, hope you don’t mind me asking, but I heard your Maxwayne family has the Power of Martial Saint. Is that right?"
Tilda Maxwayne didn’t dodge the question.
She smiled and said, "That’s right, it’s because we have the Power of Martial Saint that our Maxwayne family can hold our ground in Cordelia Kingdom."
"Otherwise, we probably would’ve been wiped out ages ago."
I frowned, "From what you’re saying...is Cordelia Kingdom that dangerous?"
"Absolutely." Tilda Maxwayne nodded.
"Cordelia Kingdom isn’t very big, and the government’s a mess, so tons of organizations have set up shop here." Tilda Maxwayne explained.
I was confused, "If it’s so risky, why did you come to Cordelia Kingdom? Why didn’t you stay in Pyro?"
Tilda Maxwayne’s expression shifted, and then she said seriously, "We’ve got enemies. We had no other option but to come to Cordelia Kingdom, otherwise who’d want to leave their home?"
"Either way, don’t dig into stuff you shouldn’t."
Seeing Tilda Maxwayne’s annoyed tone, I didn’t push any further.
The car raced along the road, and soon we reached the Maxwayne family’s place.
Just like the Drake Family back then, the Maxwayne family had a manor too, and this manor was even more impressive and huge than the Drake’s.
The whole perimeter was surrounded by city walls, almost like a mini city.
After getting to the Maxwayne family, Tilda Maxwayne set up a room for me.
"You can crash here for now, and I’ll let you know when we need you," Tilda Maxwayne said.
I nodded and said, "Aunt Tilda, time’s running short, I hope you can make this happen soon."
For me, time was incredibly tight.
Like Logan Sean had said, every minute I wasted meant Mabel Sean would suffer that much more.
