Chapter 771: Chapter 771 A Secret Between Enemies

"We’ve already done enough." One of the higher-ups sounded pretty sarcastic.

"Phoebe Billy, what’s your take?" someone suddenly asked.

Something weird flickered across Phoebe Billy’ face.

"Look, with what I’ve got right now, I can’t take on Mason Raymond. And Ms. Zackary’s the one really calling the shots here—I’m pretty much useless," Phoebe Billy jumped at the chance to say.

"Why don’t the senior executives handle this themselves?" Phoebe Billy suddenly threw out there.

The room went dead quiet when he said that.

Nobody wanted to touch that subject.

From how they were acting, Phoebe Billy figured he’d hit on something.

"Hold up—what’s that thing Mason Raymond’s got in the footage?" Someone spotted the image Mason Raymond was controlling on screen.

"What kind of weapon is that? It just melted through the Martial Saint’s power like it was nothing?"

"What are those two bodies?"

For a bit, all the executives got sucked into watching the video.

After they finished the whole thing, they went quiet again.

"That little girl... she looks like someone from the old records." One of the higher-ups seemed to piece something together.

"Phoebe Billy, get someone to grab her right now!" a higher-up snapped out an order.

But Phoebe Billy looked uncomfortable. "With what I can do, I’m no match for Mason Raymond..."

The top brass stayed quiet for a moment.

They could clearly give Phoebe Billy more power, but they decided to wait for Ms. Zackary instead.

Obviously, these executives didn’t trust Phoebe Billy one bit.

"Let Mason Raymond stick around a few more days," one higher-up said coldly.

"Phoebe Billy, keep tabs on Mason Raymond."

After that, the higher-ups started fading away one by one.

Once he left the meeting room, Phoebe Billy fished a cigarette from his pocket and stuck it between his lips.

A cold smile crept across his face.

"I think I’m starting to figure something out." Phoebe Billy chuckled quietly.

——

With Ms. Zackary out cold, I finally had some breathing room.

I’d been wracking my brain for days, trying to figure out how to deal with the Martial Saint’s power.

Right then, my phone started ringing.

I checked it and saw the Pavilion Master was calling.

I picked up fast. "Lord Pavilion Master, why are you calling me all of a sudden?"

The Pavilion Master said flatly, "Mason Raymond, you’ve forgotten a bunch of stuff, haven’t you?"

That caught me off guard. I scratched my head. "Lord Pavilion Master, what do you mean?"

The Pavilion Master kept that flat tone. "I remember telling you I’d let you use the warehouse, but you had to agree to one thing, right?"

I smacked my forehead. "Lord Pavilion Master, I didn’t forget! Just tell me what you need me to do!"

The Pavilion Master went on, "You also promised Ignacio Richard you’d give him the formula."

"Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve been swamped lately and totally spaced on it..." I felt pretty embarrassed.

The Pavilion Master said, "Come to the Divine Alchemist Pavilion. Paul Randall is here too."

He hung up after that.

I jumped up, muttering, "Damn, I actually forgot about this."

The man with the mustache mumbled, "What’s going on?"

I said, "I need to get to the Divine Alchemist Pavilion."

"I’m coming with you!" The man with the mustache shot up.

"The Divine Alchemist Pavilion’s an awesome place. From what I can tell geographically, it used to be a graveyard..." The man with the mustache said, licking his lips.

I glared at him. "You better not mess with the Divine Alchemist Pavilion."

The man with the mustache grinned awkwardly. "Don’t worry, I won’t cause any trouble."

Just as I was about to head out, my phone rang again.

I looked and saw it was actually Phoebe Billy calling.

I frowned a bit.

I walked off to the side and answered.

"What is it?" I asked in a low voice.

Phoebe Billy said, "Let’s meet tonight. I’ve got something to tell you."

I stayed quiet for a second, then agreed. "Okay, where should we meet?"

"I’ll text you the address later."

Phoebe Billy hung up.

I held the phone, my eyebrows knitting together.

"Things are really piling up," I said quietly.

After thinking it over, I sent a text to the Pavilion Master: I’ve got something to handle tonight. I’ll get to the Divine Alchemist Pavilion on time tomorrow.

The Pavilion Master texted back pretty quick: Okay.

——

Right then, in some mansion in Capital City, a big guy was sipping tea.

This man gave off this unbeatable vibe—every move he made carried this crushing presence.

Most importantly, he was wearing a purple robe.

This was Bryson Gibbs, the purple-robed member of the Capital City Martial Arts Association who held serious rank.

As a purple-robed member, Bryson Gibbs didn’t answer to Phoebe Billy or even the old guy Sybil Cooper—he reported straight to the top executives and Ms. Zackary.

Bryson Gibbs had always been wary of Phoebe Billy since his old job was keeping the major families happy.

People like that were usually weak and easily bought off.

Plus, Bryson Gibbs had his own plans.

He wanted the president’s spot!

Even though that position wouldn’t beat his purple robe status, it came with more resources and respect!

If he could catch Phoebe Billy screwing up, he could take his place!

So Bryson Gibbs secretly sent another purple-robed member to spy on Phoebe Billy.

When evening hit, Bryson Gibbs’ phone rang.

"Brother Gibbs, Phoebe Billy left his house," the voice reported.

"Where’d he go?" Bryson Gibbs asked.

The other guy said, "Qinvor Mountain."

Bryson Gibbs was shocked.

Qinvor Mountain? The place where Mason Raymond and Leticia had their fight?

"Before he left, Phoebe Billy made a phone call," the voice continued.

Bryson Gibbs narrowed his eyes. "Keep watching him closely. Whatever happens, tell me right away!"

"Got it," the voice said and hung up.

——

Right then, I was heading toward Qinvor Mountain.

Phoebe Billy was already waiting there early.

Everything around was trashed—this place was already pretty empty, but after the fight, it was even more deserted.

As it got darker, I finally showed up at Qinvor Mountain around eight at night.

Phoebe Billy waved at me. "Over here."

I grunted and walked straight toward him.

The purple-robed guy hiding in the shadows—his eyes went wide!

"Mason Raymond?" He whispered, then chuckled. "Phoebe Billy, you secretly met up with Mason Raymond—you’re finished!"

After saying that, the purple-robed man pulled out his phone, aimed it at Phoebe Billy, and hit the camera button.
