Chapter 74: Chapter 74 - Borrowed Fortune

Jack Schultz sipped his tea and chuckled, "I inquired about the treatment but ended up with an errand to handle on my way here."

I watched Jack attentively, waiting for him to continue.

With a sly smile, Jack revealed, "The Hill family requested a two billion loan, which has already been approved. Miss Sean suggests offering this two billion to you as an interest-free loan for three years."

I felt my jaw drop.

Two billion, for me? Without interest?

I couldn’t help but swallow hard. Never in my life had I seen such an enormous sum! I couldn’t even comprehend what that amount of money represented!

"Mr. Raymond, there’s no need for concern," Jack glanced cautiously around before continuing.

"Even if you can’t pay it back, Miss Sean will certainly find a solution for you!" he added with a cunning expression.

Taking a deep breath, I responded, "I’ll definitely repay every cent, so please be assured, Mr. Schultz."

Jack laughed heartily but offered no further comment.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door as the secretary stood outside, announcing, "Sir, Mr. Carter Hill has arrived."

"Is that so?" Jack raised an eyebrow questioningly. "Where is he waiting?"

The secretary replied promptly, "He’s in the VIP reception room."

"Have him come to my office," Jack instructed.

"Right away, sir." The secretary nodded before departing.

My heart began racing as I stared expectantly at the door, anticipating Carter Hill’s arrival.

Minutes ticked by, and after about five minutes, the door finally opened.

Carter Hill strode in wearing a broad smile, carrying several gift boxes in his hands.

"Mr. Schultz, how is the..." Carter’s sentence died midway when he spotted me.

His smile vanished instantly, replaced by an icy glare.

"What business do you have here?" he demanded coldly.

"If you can be here, why can’t I?" I replied with deliberate calmness.

Carter snorted dismissively. He placed his gift boxes on the table, then turned to Jack with forced politeness, "Mr. Schultz, I brought these small tokens of appreciation. I hope you’ll accept them."

Jack waved dismissively, saying, "Mr. Hill, please take a seat."

Carter sat down beside me.

Before Jack could speak, Carter said coldly, "Sir, is this nobody here for a loan too? I suspected as much. There’s no way he could run a company with your resources!"

"I think you’d better transfer the Soul Nourishment Pill to me. I can offer you a percentage," Carter added with unmistakable smugness.

I couldn’t help but sneer, "Keep dreaming."

"Mr. Schultz, considering our friendship, please reject his application! He clearly lacks the ability to repay!" Carter shot me a contemptuous glance.

Jack merely smiled and said, "Mr. Hill, have some water first, no need to rush." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Carter ignored the offer. He frowned at Jack’s attitude and pressed, "Mr. Schultz, you’re not attempting to mediate between us, are you? Let me be clear—it’s impossible! I will never forgive this upstart!"

Jack maintained his faint smile, "I have no such intention."

Now Carter appeared confused.

Frowning, he asked, "Mr. Schultz, what exactly are you saying?"

Jack spoke calmly, "Mr. Hill, I regret to inform you that your loan application has been declined."

Upon hearing this, Carter slammed his fist against the table!

He glared furiously at Jack and shouted, "That’s impossible!"

Jack spread his hands helplessly, "I must follow our assessment, which identified weaknesses in your company and a significant decline in your market share."

"As you understand, our bank avoids risky investments," Jack added with a chuckle.

Carter anxiously protested, "Mr. Schultz, our company has secured countless loans from your bank without any issues! You must believe me!"

"Just because there were no problems previously doesn’t guarantee there won’t be any in the future, correct?" Jack smiled knowingly.

Carter grew increasingly desperate. Without this loan, the Hill family’s capital chain would break, ultimately leading to collapse!

Realizing this, Carter pleaded, "Mr. Schultz, this loan is absolutely crucial to me, please... find a solution. I, Carter Hill, will remain forever grateful!"

Jack waved dismissively, "The decision isn’t mine to make. Perhaps try another bank?"

Inside, Carter was seething! Besides Chuzzle Bank, what other institution could approve a two-billion commercial loan?

"Mr. Schultz, please help somehow..." Carter begged desperately.

However, Jack no longer acknowledged Carter’s pleas.

He turned to me instead and said, "Mr. Raymond, here’s your loan contract. Just sign it, and we’re finished."

"Thank you, Mr. Schultz." I smiled, took the pen, and deliberately glanced toward Carter.

Carter stared at the contract, clearly seeing the loan amount – two billion!

In that moment, Carter finally understood everything!

He furiously shouted, "Jack Schultz! You’re fucking toying with me! Regardless of his qualifications or resources, this nobody can’t compare to me! Yet he receives a two-billion loan? I should have realized you gave my approved loan to him!"

Jack remained completely unfazed. He simply sneered, "Mr. Hill, congratulations on your accurate deduction. Unfortunately, correct answers earn no prizes."
