Chapter 726: Chapter 726 Cold Wind of Rebirth
The mustached guy sneered with contempt, "Mason Raymond, you better think this through. If she actually remembers who the masked woman was, we won’t be able to handle her."
His words made me pause and think deeply.
The way the mustached man acted so carefully made anyone feel uneasy.
I stood there without saying anything for a long time.
My face showed how torn I felt inside.
The mustached man didn’t push me. He just stood there and waited quietly.
After a few minutes, I turned to look at the mustached guy.
"Even if we don’t bring her, she’s going to remember everything anyway, right?" I asked.
The mustached man nodded. "Yeah."
"Then let’s do it," I took a deep breath.
"At least Watson is still under our control right now."
"Plus, she might not be as scary as you think."
The mustached man looked like he’d already figured out what I’d decide.
He gave a cold laugh. "Mason, let me tell you something about the masked woman."
I nodded, letting him know he should go ahead.
The mustached man said, "From what I know, this isn’t the masked woman’s first time coming back. She gets reborn every two thousand years or so."
I made a sound to show I was listening, waiting for him to keep going.
The mustached man went on, "Every time she comes back, she has to be born through someone’s womb."
"And her own parents from her previous life? She killed them with her own hands. Same with everyone connected to her - family, friends, even lovers."
My expression shifted slightly. I frowned and asked, "Why would she kill her own parents? And why kill her friends?"
The mustached man sneered. "Let me put it this way. You’re Watson’s friend, even her brother, but you’re not friends with the masked woman."
"To the masked woman, you’re just some random person."
"Same thing with her parents."
After hearing what the mustached man said, I couldn’t help thinking about how Jasper Thompson died last time.
Back then, Watson seemed like she’d become the masked woman. Those cold eyes of hers were genuinely terrifying.
What was worse, Watson didn’t seem to care at all that Jasper died.
It was like the person who died wasn’t her father but some stranger walking by.
"You still planning to bring her to the Immortal Slaying Sect?" the mustached man asked.
His words definitely made me worry.
If things really were like the mustached man said, Watson remembering some of her past would be a real problem.
"Let’s go." After thinking it through, I finally decided to bring Watson to the Immortal Slaying Sect.
"Even if she does remember everything now, she can’t beat me. If something goes wrong, I’ll take her down."
"Besides, she’s just a Marquis right now. Even if she remembers, so what? At worst, there’ll be one more talented person her age in the world."
Since the mustached man could see he couldn’t change my mind, he didn’t say more. He just nodded. "Fine."
So I went back into the room with the mustached man.
We brought Watson with us and left Green Moon Villa.
——
After almost a full day of traveling, the three of us - me, Watson, and the mustached man - reached the island where the Immortal Slaying Sect was.
"Mason, you really should reconsider," the mustached man warned again before we went underwater.
I nodded. "I’ve already decided."
Seeing this, the mustached man didn’t say anything else, and the three of us swam down toward the island.
The Immortal Slaying Sect was still underwater here, and the inner core under the island had gotten much smaller.
Obviously, those cores had been taken back by the Capital City Martial Arts Association members.
"Watson, do you remember this place?" I pointed at the Immortal Slaying Sect’s gate and asked.
Watson shook her head, looking confused. "Where is this?"
I waved my hand and laughed. "A sect."
After saying that, I looked at the mustached man.
The mustached man pulled out a basic space teleportation array platform from his Spatial Magic Artifact.
The platform had flags packed all over it. The mustached man stood on the platform, barely moving his lips as he whispered something, like he was saying some kind of spell.
A few minutes later, bubbles suddenly started coming up around the platform! The ocean floor looked like it was boiling!
"Hum!"
Along with a strange light, a round space teleportation portal showed up in front of the three of us.
"Let’s go," the mustached man said.
I nodded, took Watson’s hand and whispered, "Stick close to me."
Watson made a sound of agreement and followed me into the teleportation portal.
Since the teleportation platform was right next to the Immortal Slaying Sect, it took us hardly any time to get inside the sect.
"What kind of technique is that? It’s incredible," Watson said, looking puzzled.
The mustached man quickly answered with a grin, "This is a teleportation array platform that The Master specially made. Pretty cool, right?"
Watson gave the mustached man a thumbs up. "Really cool."
"You need to remember that, remember what I look like and don’t kill me later," the mustached man muttered.
This made Watson even more confused. She rolled her eyes. "Why would I kill you?"
"Forget it, he’s an idiot, don’t worry about him," I waved my hand.
"Come on, I’ll show you somewhere."
I led Watson to the tomb.
The mustached man followed behind us but kept his distance, staying very alert.
After about ten minutes, the three of us got to the tomb entrance again.
Since I had taken the coffin away, the dark energy in the tomb seemed to be slowly disappearing.
Even though there was still a little chill, it was nothing compared to how cold it used to be.
"This is it," I pointed at the tomb.
As I spoke, I looked at Watson and secretly watched her reaction.
Too bad there wasn’t any special expression on Watson’s face, just confusion.
"Come on, let’s go in and check it out," I said.
"You guys go in, I’ll wait for you out here," the mustached man muttered.
I didn’t bother with the mustached man. I held Watson’s hand and headed into the tomb.
As we stepped into the tomb, a sudden blast of cold wind came up from underground!
That freezing cold hit us again!
My eyebrows scrunched up slightly. I quickly looked at Watson.
And I saw the cold wind rising from the ground, moving toward Watson!
In an instant, the gusts of cold wind actually stuck to Watson’s body, forming a tornado-like whirlwind around her!
"Watson?" I suddenly got worried and tried calling out to her.
But Watson didn’t pay any attention to me. In the darkness, her expression was completely hidden.
