Chapter 692: Chapter 692 You Are The New Price
Phoebe Billy peered into the surrounding shadows, surprise flickering in his gaze.
Silence stretched across the scene.
The officials seemed to be weighing this question carefully.
"No, we absolutely cannot surrender Mabel Sean," a voice finally emerged from the darkness.
"Exactly, even if we abandon Sybil Cooper, Mabel Sean stays with us," another voice added.
"I’m with you on this." Within moments, several top officials backed this decision.
Phoebe let out a quiet sigh upon hearing this.
Of course, these leaders would never accept Mason Raymond’s demands.
"But... we still have to rescue Sybil Cooper," someone spoke up then.
"We’ll offer different terms for the exchange."
Phoebe said gravely, "Two masters stand beside Mason Raymond with incredible power - even the Martial Saint Weapon couldn’t scratch them."
"That’s impossible. No such people exist," someone quickly shot down Phoebe’s claim.
Phoebe pressed on urgently, "Gentlemen, it’s the truth! We witnessed President Cooper wielding the Prajna Ruler, only to be easily overpowered by those two..."
"Must be some hidden technique," a high official said grimly.
"Send someone right away to investigate and negotiate with Mason Raymond," came a cold command from the leadership.
Phoebe rose slowly and offered, "Gentlemen, let me handle this!"
"That won’t be necessary. We’ve already selected someone," a chilly voice responded from the shadows.
Phoebe started to protest, but the officials gradually withdrew, melting back into the darkness.
Phoebe’s brow creased with concern.
They’d already picked someone? Did this mean his shot at the presidency was gone, even if Sybil Cooper died?
"This whole situation seems more complicated than it appears..." Phoebe whispered to himself.
——
Green Moon Villa.
I sat cross-legged in the open courtyard, an Ice Heart crystal positioned before me.
The Ice Heart pulsed with clean energy that swirled around me, creating a small whirlpool of power.
The energy felt incredibly pure, yet I couldn’t find my center right now.
Sweat beaded on my forehead, and my body shook slightly.
"Looks like your mind’s all over the place."
A voice suddenly spoke right next to my ear.
My eyes snapped open wide.
I spun around quickly, spotting a thin old woman standing there silently.
I eyed her with suspicion and said coldly, "Who are you? How did you get in here?"
The old woman clasped her hands behind her back and said casually, "Didn’t you want to speak with the Capital City Martial Arts Association? Well, here I am."
My expression hardened, and I asked cautiously, "You’re one of their high-ranking officials?"
"Oh? You know about the high-ranking officials?" The old woman settled down across from me and even helped herself to a glass of water.
"Seems like you know quite a bit about our organization," the old woman said with no expression.
I watched her carefully, letting my aura spread out slowly.
If this old woman could slip into the room without a sound, her power probably far exceeded mine!
"What are your terms?" After sipping her water, she asked without interest.
I said coldly, "I already told you - hand over Mabel Sean in exchange for your people. Nothing else matters."
The old woman shook her head and said, "That’s not happening. Pick something else."
"Then we’re done talking. Just get ready to pick up Sybil Cooper’s corpse," I said coldly.
The old woman didn’t seem rushed; she said calmly, "Once we decide to abandon Sybil Cooper, we’ll launch a full assault on Green Moon Villa with no mercy! You thought this through?"
I glared at the old woman and said, "Old hag, are you trying to intimidate me?"
The old woman smirked, "Think we can’t follow through?"
"Bring it on!" I roared, and golden light blazed around me!
At the same moment, Orr Austen’s form materialized behind me.
The old woman glanced at Orr, her eyes gleaming with interest.
Then the old woman sneered, "If that’s what you’re counting on, I’m afraid you’re in for a rude awakening."
My frown deepened, and my heart sank.
Could this old woman see through something?
"If I’m not wrong, that’s a corpse, isn’t it?" The old woman went on.
My face went ashen when I heard this!
"Looks like I hit the mark," the old woman said, seeing my reaction and smiling.
I took a deep breath and said coldly, "So what if he is? Even as a corpse, he has enough power to wipe out the Capital City Martial Arts Association!"
The old woman shook her head and said, "Mason Raymond, you’re seriously underestimating us. If you can get your hands on a corpse like that and control it, so can we."
My forehead creased with worry, unease washing over me.
Just like the old woman said, the Capital City Martial Arts Association controlled most of the world’s resources.
Who could promise they hadn’t found an even stronger corpse?
Even the man with the mustache had figured out how to bring these two corpses back to life - surely the Capital City Martial Arts Association could do the same?
"Mason Raymond, you’ve been given your chance to negotiate. I hope you don’t waste it," the old woman said flatly.
"Chances like this don’t come twice, and if Sybil dies, you’ll be joining him."
After dropping that threat, the old woman turned to go.
"Hold it!" I suddenly shouted.
Orr immediately moved forward and blocked the old woman’s path.
With her back still to me, she said indifferently, "Got something else to say?"
I asked coldly, "Did you come here by yourself today?"
The old woman chuckled softly, "What else? You think I’d make a big scene like you did, letting everyone know?"
I narrowed my eyes and grinned, "I don’t know who you are, but you must be pretty important to the Capital City Martial Arts Association, right?"
The old woman seemed to catch on to something and turned to face me, asking, "What are you getting at?"
I sneered, "Nothing special, just thinking that if one Sybil Cooper isn’t enough to make you sweat, maybe I should grab you too!"
"Orr, take her down!"
With my shout, Orr immediately lunged forward and reached for the old woman!
