Chapter 684: Chapter 684 One Of Her Reincarnations
I wasn’t a fool, and I could clearly see the man with the mustache acting strange.
"Come on, spill it. What do you know and what are you planning?" I grabbed the man with the mustache and pulled him aside, my voice dripping with hostility.
The man with the mustache went quiet, showing a rare moment of seriousness.
"That girl... What’s she to you?" After a moment, the man with the mustache pointed toward Watson Thompson.
I said, "You could call her my younger sister. Why?"
The man with the mustache let out a soft sigh and went on, "I’ll be straight with you. In all my years wandering around, I’ve come across a portrait of the masked woman, and the woman in that portrait... looks incredibly similar to your sister."
I couldn’t help but think, "So there really is some connection between her and the masked woman."
Then I looked at the man with the mustache and said, "What exactly do you know?"
The man with the mustache spoke seriously, "You should understand that this masked woman isn’t from our time. Even with her incredible cultivation abilities, she should’ve crumbled to dust ages ago."
"But... I now think that the masked woman might be reincarnating through some technique."
"And your sister, she could be one of her reincarnations!"
My face shifted slightly.
Just like the man with the mustache said, even the strongest cultivators at the Tribulation Stage can’t dodge death.
This is nature’s rule, and nobody gets to escape it.
If what the man with the mustache said was right, that the masked woman kept reincarnating, it would truly be terrifying.
"Mason Raymond, you mentioned the mask is with her, correct?" The man with the mustache asked.
I nodded and said, "Yeah."
Hearing this, the man with the mustache quickly said, "You better figure out how to stop her from awakening any memories! Otherwise, it’ll definitely bring chaos and disaster!"
I rolled my eyes, "Aren’t you being a bit dramatic? I know Watson inside and out. She might be playful, but she’s got a good heart. How could she possibly bring chaos and disaster..."
The man with the mustache said frantically, "That’s because you don’t get it! Let me tell you, based on what I know, this masked woman is a ruthless demon who kills without hesitation!"
"From what I understand, she wouldn’t care about her own friends and family! The kindness now is just an act!"
I scratched my head, "Is it really as scary as you’re making it sound?"
The man with the mustache thought for a moment, "Absolutely! If we could, we should eliminate her beforehand!"
"No way!" I immediately shot down the man with the mustache’s suggestion.
"And I’m warning you, you better not even think about hurting her." I said coldly.
The man with the mustache sighed softly, "Mason Raymond, maybe you think she has a great bond with you now, but later... once she fully changes, she’ll become someone completely different!"
"When that happens, nobody will be able to control her, and who knows how many innocent people will suffer!"
I glanced at the serious-faced man with the mustache, then looked at Watson Thompson in the distance.
"Do you really want to watch countless innocent people die by her hands?" The man with the mustache said, frustrated.
I still remained silent.
What the man with the mustache said definitely had merit, but killing Watson was absolutely out of the question!
"I’ll keep her safe." I took a deep breath.
"Even if it’s true and someday she turns into a demon, I’ll control her with my own hands."
The man with the mustache sighed, "I just hope you’ll have the strength to do that when the time comes."
"Enough! Don’t mention this again!" I pointed at the man with the mustache.
"And don’t let Watson know about this, got it?"
The man with the mustache felt helpless against me, so he could only wave his hand and say, "Alright, alright, do whatever you want. I’m done getting involved in this mess."
I didn’t continue the conversation. I pulled the mask out of the Spatial Magic Artifact and handed it to the man with the mustache.
"Here’s the mask you wanted. Let’s not waste more time," I said.
When he received the mask, the man with the mustache had a really complex expression.
He looked both thrilled and somewhat scared.
This fear puzzled me, because even if the man with the mustache knew many stories about the masked woman, they were still just legends.
How could someone feel real fear without experiencing it personally?
"It really is her mask..." The man with the mustache couldn’t help but lick his lips.
"You better not get any ideas about this mask..." I warned.
The man with the mustache waved his hand: "Don’t worry, I’ve already dropped that thought."
Ever since he saw Watson Thompson, his plans had disappeared like smoke.
Even the man with the mustache didn’t understand why.
"Then let’s begin," I said.
"Wait, the array platform still needs some fixing. If the power gets too intense, it could easily wreck the array platform," the man with the mustache said with a grin.
I glared at the man with the mustache and said, "What the hell were you doing before!"
The man with the mustache touched his nose and laughed awkwardly.
The array platform wasn’t finished at all because the man with the mustache never planned to help me from the start.
Everything he’d done was to trick me and steal the mask.
The man with mustache lifted the suppression force from the array platform and pulled out several array flags.
"How long will this take?" I asked.
The man with the mustache held up his fingers and said, "Three hours."
I nodded and said, "Then get moving."
As the man with the mustache held the mask and walked back to the array platform, he unconsciously looked away when he passed Watson Thompson.
This left Watson completely confused.
She pointed to her nose and whispered, "Am I ugly?"
"Of course not," I said helplessly.
"He’s an idiot, don’t worry about him."
Watson made an ’oh’ sound. She seemed a bit sleepy and leaned against my shoulder, quickly drifting off.
Looking at the delicate girl beside me, I couldn’t link her to the masked woman the man with the mustache described.
Time flew by, and the three hours passed in a flash.
The man with the mustache fixed up the array platform, making it look more solid and complete.
He placed magical artifacts with special properties around the array platform to steady it, keeping it from getting destroyed by powerful forces.
"Okay, bring out those two corpses now," the man with the mustache said.
I grunted in response, made sure Watson Thompson was comfortable, then took out the corpses and put them in the center of the array platform.
The man with the mustache held a palm-sized golden bowl and said, "Now we need a drop of your blood essence to control the two corpses."
Without hesitating, I squeezed out a drop of my blood essence into the small bowl.
The man with the mustache walked to the center of the array platform, slowly lifted his palm, and began chanting a technique quietly.
Soon, several large characters appeared in mid-air above the array platform!
Strange forces flowed from every direction, reaching the two corpses!
I stood quietly nearby, waiting patiently.
Right then, my expression changed slightly.
I suddenly sensed that two terrifying auras were getting closer from far away!
"Peak Form of Military Marquis!"
Feeling this aura, my face couldn’t help but shift slightly!
