Chapter 683: Chapter 683 An Apology For The Mask

The mask shimmered and shot straight into the coffin!

In that instant, energy waves poured out from the coffin, all flowing toward the mask!

A chilling presence immediately filled the entire area!

I quickly yanked Watson to safety, pulling her away from whatever was happening.

The mask shook violently in the air as power surged up from the coffin.

I stared at the spectacle above, my face showing clear amazement!

What kind of technique was this? Had the mask actually gained its own awareness?

After a few moments, everything finally settled.

The mask dropped into the coffin, and silence returned.

I walked Watson over to the coffin, reached in, and pulled the mask out, handing it back to her.

"Do you sense anything different?" I asked, worried.

Watson simply shook her head without speaking.

She’d grown much quieter since Jasper Thompson died, or maybe it was because of the mask.

Her personality no longer seemed like that of a young girl—instead, she’d developed this cold edge.

I couldn’t decide if this change was positive or negative, but if Watson really was linked to the masked woman, her future might be beyond imagination.

Over the next few days, I stayed put in this location.

With Jasper Thompson gone, Watson definitely couldn’t remain here alone.

I could only accept the situation with a heavy heart.

"I guess I’ll bring her back to Green Moon Villa for now," I decided silently.

Before I knew it, a week had gone by.

Watson’s spirits seemed much better during this period.

So I planned to find the man with the mustache tomorrow to bring those two male bodies back to life.

That evening.

I pulled the two male corpses from the Spatial Magic Artifact.

"Watson, do you know these two men?" I gestured toward the bodies and asked.

Watson shook her head. "Never seen them."

I didn’t press further, since I wasn’t certain about any connection between Watson and the masked woman.

"Maybe it’s just her natural constitution," I reasoned to myself.

After all, Watson was a pure dark energy body, which might trigger some response with the masked woman.

"Word about the mask has gotten out. From here on, we’ll probably face constant problems," I sighed.

This time it was three Marquis who tried to steal the mask. Who knew what kind of power would show up next?

The following day.

I took Watson and left Chuzzle, heading toward the spot the man with the mustache had marked.

Watson stayed quiet during our journey.

After traveling for some time, I finally located where the man with the mustache was supposed to be.

The place was barren and empty, with an ominous feeling hanging over everything.

I took a breath and couldn’t help but frown.

"Looks like there’s some kind of formation set up here," I murmured.

I tried to activate my body’s internal energy but found it felt suppressed, like frozen solid, unable to flow.

"There definitely is a formation," I muttered quietly.

Still, I wasn’t too concerned. Even without energy, my physical strength was unmatched anywhere.

I brought Watson forward with me.

Soon, an array platform came into view.

At first glance, the platform looked incredibly old.

Strange symbols were carved all over it, and array flags were planted thickly around its edges.

"This has got to be the place," I said seriously.

This mysterious platform was basic, showing no energy signature, and looked ready to crumble any second.

"What is this place?" Watson studied the scene and frowned.

Instead of answering her question, I said, "Watson, I need to borrow your mask for a while. I’ll return it soon."

Watson easily passed the mask to me. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"Having the mask with me isn’t safe anyway, so I’ll let you hold onto it for now," Watson said.

I considered this and found her logic sound, so I agreed.

I then scanned the area and wondered aloud, "Where the hell did that man with the mustache go? Did he already take off?"

"Who’s the man with the mustache?" Watson asked.

I grinned. "A buddy of mine. We’ll wait for him here."

After saying this, I guided Watson to sit on the platform while we waited for the man with the mustache.

Minutes and seconds ticked by, but the man with the mustache never showed.

Eventually, darkness fell.

No light surrounded us except the stars overhead.

——

At that moment, a figure lurked in the shadows.

He gazed toward Mason’s location, his eyes gleaming with strange coldness.

"My friend, though I respect you, for that mask’s sake, I must apologize!" the man with the mustache whispered.

He then concealed his presence, stepped forward, and moved toward Mason.

Mason, completely oblivious, sat meditating on the platform.

Soon, the man with the mustache positioned himself behind Mason.

He stared coldly at Mason, with a hint of internal struggle in his eyes.

But this struggle lasted only briefly, replaced by complete coldness!

He raised his hand and slowly extended it toward Mason!

Just then, Watson suddenly turned and looked at the man with the mustache behind her.

The man with the mustache frowned slightly. As he was about to strike ruthlessly, his expression suddenly changed completely!

His face went white as he stared at Watson!

The next instant, the man with the mustache flew backward, terror written across his features!

"You... you..." The man with the mustache pointed at Watson, stammering continuously, as if he’d encountered a ghost!

——

The disturbance naturally grabbed my attention.

I turned to face the man with the mustache and frowned. "What’s wrong with you? Did you actually see a ghost?"

The man with the mustache gulped, cold sweat streaming down his forehead!

In just that moment, countless thoughts raced through his mind!

His scheme to grab the mask evaporated instantly!

I looked at the man with the mustache suspiciously, then glanced at Watson and muttered, "What’s gotten into you?"

The man with the mustache wiped sweat from his brow and stood up with an awkward smile.

"Nothing, nothing..." The man with the mustache’s usual carefree expression returned to his face.

I studied the man with the mustache from head to toe, then looked at Watson again before saying teasingly, "Man with the mustache, you seem pretty terrified of Watson."

Hearing this, the man with the mustache’s heart pounded, and his expression became extremely uncomfortable!
