Chapter 679: Chapter 679 The Mask Is Mine

After gulping down the three golden cores, I felt like I could break into the mid-term Military Marquis realm any second now.

I looked around and murmured, "A whole month’s gone by. I need to get back."

The man with the mustache and I had set up a meeting at Green Moon Villa after one month.

Not wanting to drag my feet, I spread out my divine sense to figure out which way to go and started walking out of the desert step by step.

The massive desert stretched far from Cango City.

It took me three whole days to finally escape that sandy hell.

Then I made my way to the closest airport to fly back to Cango City.

——

I’d been missing for an entire month. Everyone who’d come to kill me had already given up and left, except for those three purple robes from the Capital City Martial Arts Association.

They’d all run out of patience waiting for me.

At the Capital City Martial Arts Association, Sybil Cooper glanced at Bryce Johansson and chuckled. "Mr. Johansson, you don’t need to get your hands dirty with small stuff like this. Our Capital City Martial Arts Association already sent three purple robes to take out Mason Raymond. He’s probably dead meat by now."

Bryce Johansson held way more clout in the Johansson family than Klein Johansson ever did.

That made Bryce Johansson’s whole attitude completely different from Klein Johansson’s.

"You guys have sent wave after wave of people from the Capital City Martial Arts Association. Every single time you swore Mason Raymond was a goner, but what happened?" Bryce Johansson mocked.

"What a pathetic joke that the Capital City Martial Arts Association claims to have amazing talent, but you can’t even kill one Mason Raymond."

Sybil Cooper shifted uncomfortably. "Those were just flukes."

Bryce Johansson got to his feet and stretched. "President Cooper, you know damn well that every major family wants Mason Raymond six feet under."

Sybil Cooper nodded. "I know, and so does our Capital City Martial Arts Association."

Bryce Johansson shrugged. "Fine, then I’ll sit tight and wait for your good news."

After Bryce Johansson walked out, Sybil Cooper’s expression went dark.

He shot his assistant a cold look. "It’s been a month already. Why haven’t we heard a damn thing!"

The assistant shook his head. "I have no clue. I tried reaching the three purple robes, but every attempt failed."

This gave Sybil Cooper a sinking feeling.

The three purple robes were the Capital City Martial Arts Association’s elite forces.

If even they couldn’t take down Mason Raymond, they might have to break out the heavy weapons next.

"President Cooper, we just got word that Mason Raymond’s back at Green Moon Villa."

Right then, someone burst in from outside.

Sybil Cooper’s face went black and his fists clenched on their own.

"That Mason Raymond..." Sybil Cooper’s expression turned ice cold, radiating killing intent.

The assistant frowned. "Could it be that the three purple robes are already dead?"

Sybil Cooper shook his head. "I don’t know, but since he’s back, it can’t be good news."

With that, he looked at his assistant and said coldly, "Keep this under wraps for now. Just say the three purple robes couldn’t track down Mason Raymond and came back empty-handed."

"Even if the three purple robes really are dead, we can’t let word get out!"

The assistant nodded. "Yes, sir."

The Capital City Martial Arts Association had always ruled the martial arts world, and the purple robes had made the entire martial arts community tremble with fear.

If people found out that Mason Raymond had killed the three purple robes, the Capital City Martial Arts Association’s reputation would crash and burn.

The intimidation factor they’d spent years building would vanish into thin air.

——

Back inside Green Moon Villa, I sat in the Great Hall and turned to Ximena Santos. "Has anyone come looking for me these past few days?"

Ximena Santos answered, "Yeah, almost every day someone shows up asking if you’re here."

I couldn’t help but frown a little.

Obviously Ximena Santos wasn’t talking about the man with the mustache since he was way too memorable.

"After more than a month, the man with the mustache still hasn’t shown. Did he grab the fireball and bail on me?" I wondered silently.

I’d always been suspicious of the man with the mustache.

The guy seemed nuts, but he was actually sharp as a tack. Even I couldn’t figure him out.

"Whatever, I’ll give him a few more days," I thought to myself.

Time flew by, and before I knew it, three days had passed.

But during those three days, the man with the mustache still hadn’t shown his face.

This made me lose my patience, and after thinking it over, I decided, "Forget it. I might as well go into seclusion and try breaking through to the mid-term Military Marquis realm first."

With my current strength, if I stepped into the mid-term Military Marquis realm, I wouldn’t have to worry about purple robes anymore. I could even go toe-to-toe with a Peak Form Military Marquis!

That night, just as I was about to start my seclusion, a sleazy figure appeared next to me.

He grinned and said, "Sorry, I got caught in traffic and arrived a few days late."

I opened my eyes and glared at the man with the mustache. "What kind of traffic jam keeps you stuck for several days!"

The man with the mustache smirked. "I figured you were already dead. I didn’t expect you to be such a tough bastard."

With that, he looked me up and down, then gasped in shock. "You actually pulled it off?"

I nodded slightly. "Yeah, just like I thought. The true fire can definitely be used to strengthen my body."

This left the man with the mustache looking stunned, and he muttered under his breath, "The chaotic body really is one hell of a constitution..."

Then the man with the mustache grabbed my arm. "Alright, don’t waste any more time. I’ve got all the materials ready. Let’s move."

I’d been itching to leave anyway, so I stood up. "Okay, let’s go."

The man with the mustache pulled out a map.

The map looked pretty rough, but it had a location marked on it.

The man with the mustache pointed to the marked spot and said, "I’ve set up an array platform here, and I’ll be waiting for you there."

"When you get the mask, just come find me."

I frowned. "Aren’t you coming with me?"

The man with the mustache shook his head. "The Master needs to prep in advance. You just need to bring the mask."

"Alright." I didn’t overthink it and agreed right away.

It was already late at night, but I still left Cango City and headed for Chuzzle.

——

Watching Mason Raymond’s retreating figure, the man with the mustache narrowed his eyes.

A sly smile flashed across his face, and the corners of his mouth twisted into a weird grin.

"The mask... is mine!" the man with the mustache said coldly.

After saying this, the man with the mustache turned and melted into the night.
