Chapter 658: Chapter 658 A Strange Dark Aura
All this while, the Pavilion Master had been looking after me to some degree. But deep down, I knew there was no such thing as free kindness.
This doubt had been eating at me for ages.
The Pavilion Master studied me, then shook his head after a pause.
"There’s no particular reason." The Pavilion Master spoke with a rather cold tone.
I frowned, wanting to press further, but the Pavilion Master cut me off, simply waving his hand and saying: "Go rest now. When you’re hurt, proper rest is what you need."
Before his words had fully settled, I felt a gentle yet persistent force washing over me.
Suddenly, I was hit by an overwhelming wave of drowsiness and quickly drifted into deep sleep.
——
Right now, all of Capital City, and even Pyro’s entire martial arts community, was buzzing with excitement.
Word that Mason Raymond was the black-robed figure spread rapidly, and his stunning performance left everyone speechless.
The Sean and Johansson families felt the biggest impact since their relationship with Mason Raymond had soured. Seeing his current power level naturally made them anxious.
"That black-robed figure... turns out to be Mason Raymond." Logan Sean narrowed his eyes, radiating intense murderous intent.
He glanced at Alberto Sean beside him and asked, "Do you have what it takes to face him now?"
Alberto Sean’s expression darkened as he replied grimly: "Much as I hate to say it, beating him would be nearly impossible for me right now."
Hearing this, Logan Sean drew a sharp breath.
"Mason Raymond has escaped death repeatedly - we can’t let him keep getting stronger like this." Logan Sean spoke icily.
"We have to eliminate him, whatever the cost!"
Obviously, Logan Sean was dead serious this time.
Past miscalculations had let Mason Raymond reach this level, and they couldn’t overlook it anymore.
"Dad, I’m heading to the Capital City Martial Arts Association tomorrow for intensive training." Alberto Sean said with a frosty tone.
Clearly, this situation had hit Alberto Sean hard.
After being the top fighter of his generation for so long, getting surpassed was something Alberto Sean couldn’t stomach.
Alberto Sean wasn’t alone - many well-dressed young men in Capital City felt the same way.
In just one night, several heirs from influential families had decided on intensive training.
While some celebrated and others worried, people like Kira Doris and Hawk Thompson were panicking.
They understood perfectly that with Mason Raymond’s vindictive nature, he wouldn’t spare them.
——
Over the following days, I stayed at Ignacio Richard’s place.
Meanwhile, the outside world had erupted into total mayhem with elite forces from every sector deployed to hunt me down!
This included both the Capital City Martial Arts Association and even government forces!
With the Sean and Johansson families making their moves, I was basically trapped with nowhere to run.
But three days flew by and they still hadn’t tracked me down.
They practically flipped all of Pyro upside down but couldn’t locate me.
"This is bizarre, where did that kid disappear to?" Everyone was scratching their heads.
Another three days went by.
Thanks to the Pavilion Master’s careful treatment, my injuries had nearly completely healed.
I gathered my things and put on fresh clothes, getting ready to leave the house.
"Lord Pavilion Master, you need to have Commander Richard assist him." I said earnestly as I prepared to go.
The Pavilion Master gave a slight nod, "Don’t worry, since Ignacio Richard gave his word, he’ll definitely follow through."
"Mason Raymond, everyone’s hunting for you out there. You need to watch yourself." The Pavilion Master warned.
I laughed, "If I played it too safe, how would they even have a shot at catching me?"
I left those words hanging, shook my head, turned around and walked away from the place.
Since I was supposed to get captured, I had to stir up some serious trouble. Only that way could I make the Capital City Martial Arts Association trust Phoebe Billy.
So I decided to target the Great Saint Sect.
This was probably the smartest and most reasonable approach.
Before going to the Great Saint Sect, I headed back to Chuzzle first, planning to check on Watson Thompson.
The mask situation was crucial - I couldn’t afford any screw-ups.
Chuzzle, outside Jasper Thompson’s house.
Unlike the lively atmosphere from before, today felt incredibly still.
It was already late fall, and the yard was covered with fallen leaves, creating a bleak mood.
I frowned slightly. I extended my divine sense and quickly detected someone inside the house.
I took a quick look around before walking straight into the room.
The moment I stepped inside, I saw Jasper Thompson sitting on the couch drinking, looking much more aged than before.
"Jasper, what’s wrong?" I couldn’t help but ask.
Hearing my voice, Jasper jumped.
He quickly got to his feet, his face lighting up with joy, but then immediately shifting to alarm.
He hurriedly pulled me aside and whispered, "Mason Raymond, have you lost your mind? Everyone out there is searching for you!"
I chuckled, "I know, Jasper, I’ll be leaving soon."
Jasper scowled, he shut the door tight and then pulled me over to sit down.
"Jasper, has something happened these past few days?" I could sense something was off about Jasper.
Jasper sighed and said slowly, "The Taylors messed with my job and got me fired. The fact that I can still live here is already pretty lucky."
My expression shifted slightly - I hadn’t expected the Taylors to go after regular people like this.
"Jasper, I’m really sorry," I stood up, feeling somewhat guilty.
I pulled out my bank card and offered it to Jasper, "There’s some cash in there, use it for now."
Jasper quickly pushed the bank card away, "You’re putting me in a tough spot - those people are watching me constantly."
Hearing this made my guilt even worse.
"Just look after yourself. At least I’m not starving or anything, I’m getting by okay." Jasper Thompson smiled and waved his hand.
I said quietly, "Don’t worry, this won’t go on much longer. Logan Sean will fall from power eventually."
After saying this, I looked at Jasper and asked, "Where’s Watson?"
When Watson was brought up, Jasper’s face showed a hint of concern.
"Ever since she began training, she’s become like a totally different person; her attitude has gotten really strange, and she’s also become much darker." Jasper sighed.
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but frown.
Could it be... was Watson starting to head down the same path as the masked woman?
I didn’t know much about the masked woman, but based on the moustached man’s reaction to her, the masked woman definitely wasn’t good news.
"When will she get back?" I asked.
Jasper checked his watch and said, "Any minute now, do you need something from her?"
"No, I just wanted to see how she was doing," I said quietly.
"Then you should stick around." Jasper nodded.
I simply acknowledged and agreed to wait.
Around six in the evening, Watson finally showed up at the entrance.
The second Watson appeared, I sensed an extremely strange aura.
While this aura wasn’t powerful, it was remarkably similar to the masked woman’s!
