Chapter 636: Chapter 636 The Price Of The Auction

Sword energy exploded from beneath the markings, and within moments, the entire hall was nearly cleaved in two!

I gasped for breath, my cold gaze fixed on where the trio had been standing.

What happened next left me stunned!

Hawk Thompson had actually fled!

The two men in black and gold robes lay sprawled on the ground, struggling to breathe, while Hawk Thompson was nowhere to be seen!

"He actually ran?" My expression turned icy, then I couldn’t stop myself from laughing bitterly.

"Capital City Martial Arts Association members truly share the same character - they all love ditching their allies to save themselves."

I walked straight toward the two fallen men.

They opened their mouths as though pleading for mercy, but I didn’t give them the chance. With one swift sword strike, I cut both men clean in half.

I knew perfectly well this wasn’t a place to stick around.

Hawk Thompson had gotten away, and he’d definitely bring backup.

So I turned to the nearly petrified host and said coldly, "Where are the auction items?"

The host shook violently and pointed behind him, stammering, "In... in the back, please don’t kill me..."

"Take me there," I said coldly.

The host was beyond terrified. He wouldn’t dare say another word and quickly led me to the back.

When we reached where the auction items were stored, I smashed the lock with brute force.

"Everything’s here..." the host stuttered.

I scanned the area and quickly spotted a long sword.

The blade looked ordinary, even worse than the bronze sword I already carried.

But I didn’t have time to overthink it right now. I immediately stuffed all the auction items into my bag.

——

Meanwhile, Hawk Thompson was on his phone, alerting the Capital City Martial Arts Association.

"President, this is bad - the black-robed man has robbed our auction!" Hawk Thompson said through clenched teeth.

On the other end, Sybil Cooper suddenly pounded his fist and roared, "What did you just say?!"

Hawk Thompson wiped the blood trickling from his mouth and said, "Send people to the venue immediately - we absolutely cannot let him get away!"

Sybil Cooper was livid, saying coldly, "Pin him down! Don’t let him escape!"

After barking those orders, Sybil Cooper ended the call.

But Hawk Thompson felt uneasy. He knew he was no match for the black-robed man.

He was responsible for this auction, and now that everything had gone wrong, his superiors wouldn’t forgive him.

If he ran now, it would only make things worse.

After mulling it over, Hawk Thompson gritted his teeth and headed back toward the venue.

——

Inside the venue, I had gathered all the auction items and was ready to leave.

Dressed in my black robe, I strode toward the exit.

After stepping outside, I quickly noticed Hawk Thompson lurking in a dark corner.

My eyes locked onto his hiding spot, and killing intent surged through me.

Sensing the murderous aura radiating from me, Hawk Thompson’ body went rigid.

I snorted coldly and turned to leave.

Taking down Hawk Thompson quickly wasn’t feasible, and reinforcements from the Capital City Martial Arts Association would probably arrive soon.

So I ultimately abandoned the idea of killing Hawk Thompson and left instead.

Seeing this, Hawk Thompson also breathed a sigh of relief.

He hurried back to the venue and quietly waited for Sybil Cooper’s arrival.

About ten minutes later.

Several cars pulled up at the entrance.

As soon as the vehicle stopped, Sybil Cooper rushed into the venue.

At least eight men in black and gold robes followed him, each stronger than Hawk Thompson!

Upon entering the venue, Sybil Cooper saw the chaos and bodies scattered everywhere!

Not only were martial artists hurt, but ordinary people had been caught in the crossfire too!

Witnessing this scene, Sybil Cooper was furious, rage burning in his chest!

"The black-robed man... this black-robed man has crossed the line!" Sybil Cooper stared wide-eyed at the devastation, bellowing in fury!

This auction was a public event hosted by the Capital City Martial Arts Association!

Now that the black-robed man had destroyed it, it was a direct insult to the Capital City Martial Arts Association! They might even face scrutiny from higher authorities!

"Hawk Thompson! Where is he?!" Sybil Cooper shouted angrily.

Hawk Thompson gritted his teeth and said, "I’m no match for him - I let him slip away..."

Sybil Cooper grabbed Hawk Thompson by the collar and yelled, "Didn’t I tell you to watch him!"

Hawk Thompson frowned, "I tried to stop him, but... but I couldn’t match him, and our two comrades died by his sword..."

"You didn’t even try to stop him, did you? I clearly saw you abandon your allies and run off alone." At that moment, the Pavilion Master in the venue added fuel to the fire.

Hearing this, Hawk Thompson’ face changed instantly!

"Don’t spread lies!" Hawk Thompson shouted angrily.

"The Pavilion Master speaks the truth - we witnessed it too," someone nearby said coldly.

"The black-robed man killed your two companions, and you fled the venue early, ignoring our safety. Is this how the Capital City Martial Arts Association operates?" an injured wealthy guest said coldly.

For a moment, everyone turned on Hawk Thompson.

Sybil Cooper’s expression was extremely grim!

He took a deep breath and patiently explained, "Everyone, this incident was just an unexpected development. I will definitely provide you with an explanation."

"Hmph, President Cooper, I hope you keep your promise."

President Cooper bowed slightly, "Please head to the hospital first."

After sending everyone away, Sybil Cooper’s face finally darkened.

"Hawk Thompson, you coward!" Sybil Cooper said coldly.

Hawk Thompson’ face turned cold, then he gritted his teeth and said, "Who isn’t afraid of dying? I lost an arm for the Capital City Martial Arts Association, and the Association didn’t seem to offer any compensation!"

Sybil Cooper’s expression turned cold as he frowned, "Hawk Thompson, have you lost your mind?"

Hawk Thompson snorted, "Sybil Cooper, am I wrong?"

"How many people have I captured for the prison over the years? What benefits have I received?"

"I’ve requested this bloodline power countless times, but you’ve turned me down every single time. Now you still want me to throw my life away?"

Sybil Cooper opened his mouth but found himself speechless for a moment.

Although he held the president’s title, the real authority wasn’t in his hands but belonged to those above him.

This was also why Hawk Thompson dared to confront Sybil Cooper.

"Let’s handle this crisis first and figure out how to explain it to the higher-ups," someone suggested.

Sybil Cooper took a deep breath and said coldly, "Regardless, we must capture this black-robed man! At any cost!"

——

By this time, I had already made it back to the house.

As soon as I walked in, I saw the man with the mustache sitting several meters from the coffin, his eyes fixed unblinkingly on it, as if worried the coffin might suddenly shift.

"I brought the items back for you. Now you should tell me how to use the two male corpses," I said.
