Chapter 623: Chapter 623 A Costly Victory
This proposal was solid.
The Capital City Martial Arts Association had trained plenty of fighters with Mabel Sean’s bloodline abilities.
But the bloodline they could actually inherit was under 30%.
Two factors caused this. First, they received tiny amounts of bloodline. Second, their compatibility sucked.
Alberto Sean, Mabel Sean’s brother, could naturally absorb the bloodline power to its fullest.
"What’s your take, Mr. Yan?" Sybil Cooper smiled and asked.
Logan Sean huffed coldly. "My son decides."
He tossed out those words, stood up, and walked out.
Once he left, Sybil Cooper’s assistant couldn’t hold back a sneer. "Chairman, why be so nice to him? Logan Sean shows you zero respect!"
Sybil Cooper looked at his assistant and shook his head. "You don’t get how powerful the Sean family is."
"Power? What power? I don’t see what kind of strength the Sean family has!" The assistant shot back, clearly annoyed.
"They even get their bodyguards from our Capital City Martial Arts Association. How strong can they be?"
Sybil Cooper glanced at his assistant and gave a light snort. "What century do you think this is? You think brute force fixes everything?"
"The Sean family’s martial arts might be weak, but they wield serious influence in politics, business, and the military!"
"Plus, these connections aren’t just for show. They have rock-solid relationships with the Sean family!"
The assistant mumbled under his breath, "I don’t see what makes Logan Sean so special..."
Sybil Cooper let out a slow sigh. "Can’t be helped. Duane Sean built that foundation for him back in the day. Even if he’s just coasting on benefits, nobody wants to cross them."
——
The fight between Alberto Sean and the three Capital City Martial Arts Association disciples got scheduled fast.
As the top guy of his generation, Alberto Sean drew massive crowds.
These three fighters had been making waves lately. Their battle pulled in tons of spectators.
"Should we clear everyone out?" Before the match, Alberto Sean’s attendant asked.
Alberto Sean shot him an icy look. "Think I’m gonna lose?"
The attendant quickly backpedaled. "I... I never meant that."
Alberto Sean said coldly, "The more people watching, the better. I want them to see that this so-called bloodline means nothing!"
He couldn’t help clenching his fists.
This massive battle went on for three solid days!
In the end, Alberto Sean came out on top. He beat all three opponents by himself!
That kind of performance sent shockwaves through the entire martial arts world!
"No doubt he’s number one! Taking on three guys at once and winning!"
"Next to Zora Solomon, Alberto Sean seems way stronger."
After his victory, Alberto Sean turned and left the stage.
But his expression looked grim.
"What a load of crap bloodline - it’s nothing compared to my son!" Logan Sean rushed up excitedly.
Alberto Sean looked at his father and shook his head. "No, Dad. This fight changed how I see things."
"Huh?" Logan Sean looked confused.
Alberto Sean said seriously, "Without that bloodline power, I could’ve crushed these three with one move!"
"But because of this bloodline boost, I barely won... How much did that bloodline help them? It pushed them to levels they never should’ve reached!"
Suddenly, Alberto Sean coughed up fresh blood!
Clearly, this victory had cost him big time.
His calm act was exactly that - an act!
"Son, you okay?" Logan Sean quickly supported Alberto Sean.
Alberto Sean’s face was ghost-white. He waved his hand. "I’m fine... Dad, get me into the Capital City Martial Arts Association right now. I need that bloodline power!"
——
At this moment, I was getting ready to leave the Immortal Slaying Sect with the mustached man.
"Gotta warn you - I suck at setting up array platforms. Even short trips take forever," the mustached man complained.
I rolled my eyes. "Alright, quit whining and let’s move."
The mustached man shut up. He fired up the array platform, and we both stepped on.
Our figures vanished quickly, heading away from the Immortal Slaying Sect.
After who knows how long, we finally reached some remote spot on the island.
A table-sized array platform sat there, big enough for two people.
The second we appeared, the array platform crashed down with a loud bang.
"Damn, that was close!" The mustached man shivered when he saw it.
I asked with some leftover fear, "What happens if the array platform breaks early?"
The mustached man whispered, "If it breaks early, we’d never get out."
That sent chills down my spine!
One more second and the platform might’ve actually collapsed!
"Hey, with my skills, I can only transport one person. Bringing you out wasn’t easy," the mustached man grumbled.
I stayed quiet and studied the array platform carefully.
Four small flags stuck out from each corner of the platform.
The flags looked beat up, but they had writing on them.
"What kind of flags are these?" I asked.
While collecting the flags, the mustached man answered, "They’re called Eight-sided flags. You need these to build teleportation array platforms."
I nodded, looked at the mustached man, and asked, "Where you heading next?"
"Not sure. Gonna find another tomb for some archaeological work," the mustached man replied.
I didn’t say much. I cupped my hands toward the mustached man. "I owe you one, so let’s split up here."
"Hold on, hold on," the mustached man said with a grin.
"I heard there are inner cores on the seabed. We’ve come this far - be a shame not to grab some."
I wanted to team up with the mustached man to hunt for treasures. Better not to part ways yet.
So we both dove back into the seabed and headed toward the island.
Right then, under the island, seven or eight people stood in a circle.
They all wore white robes with the Capital City Martial Arts Association symbol.
"Capital City Martial Arts Association..." When I saw them, my face went ice cold.
"From today on, whenever I see Capital City Martial Arts Association people, I’ll kill them!"
With that, I charged toward the group.
