Chapter 618: Chapter 618 Guardians Of The Empty Tomb
The bowl exploded into pieces, and the pestle in my hand wouldn’t stop shaking!
The man with the mustache looked scared out of his mind, stammering, "I...I’ve never seen anything like this...the bowl actually broke!"
My face tensed up too.
The bowl and pestle came from Buddhism, you know. They were packed with faith power and good energy, strong enough to crush any evil in the world.
But now? The bowl was in pieces!
"Let’s get out of here. No treasure’s worth dying for." The man with the mustache grabbed me, ready to bolt.
But I said coldly, "You want to run? Go ahead. I’m staying. The more dangerous it gets, the bigger the payoff."
I didn’t have much time left, so I had to roll the dice.
As long as the risk could boost my strength, any sacrifice was worth it.
With that, I walked forward.
The man with the mustache hesitated, then gritted his teeth and muttered, "Screw it, I’m coming too. I don’t believe I can’t handle this!"
So he hurried after me.
The deeper we went, the stronger the dark energy got.
When we hit the deepest part, breathing became a struggle.
The qi in our bodies got completely locked down and frozen, making our abilities useless right now.
"Look, what’s that?" I pointed at a carved-out section in the wall up ahead.
At first glance, it looked like a room with an open door.
"My friend, you go check what’s in there." The man with the mustache whispered, hiding behind me.
I ignored him and walked toward the opening with my lamp.
"Huh?"
Seeing what was in front of me, my face changed.
A massive coffin sat there!
More importantly, two corpses lay on either side of it!
"The bodies aren’t in the coffin but placed next to it?" I frowned.
I tried sensing the dark energy and found that the tomb’s evil aura was definitely coming from here.
Staring at the coffin, I got lost in thought.
Dragons and phoenixes were carved into it, and the wood showed no signs of rotting after all these years.
I thought for a moment and reached out to lift the coffin lid.
"Don’t touch it!"
Right then, the man with the mustache suddenly yelled.
He rushed up to me, eyes locked on the coffin.
"What’s wrong?" I asked.
He ignored me and just kept repeating, "It really is her tomb!"
I questioned him, "How do you know?"
The man with the mustache pointed at the coffin’s edge and said seriously, "Look at this design, it’s that woman’s mask."
Looking over, I did see the mask pattern.
And this pattern matched the mask Watson Thompson had!
"Watson...and that woman, what’s their connection!" The confusion on my face got thicker.
Could Watson really be that woman’s reincarnation?
It had been ages since I’d seen Watson, and I had no clue how her training was going.
"Let’s open the coffin." I said.
But the man with the mustache looked serious and said gravely, "I’m worried that opening it will unleash danger instead of treasures."
I frowned, "Are we just going to leave it like this?"
The man with the mustache couldn’t decide.
He pulled out one magical tool after another from his spatial artifact, trying to use them for protection.
But in the end, he ditched them all.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing this, I couldn’t help but ask.
The man with the mustache smiled bitterly, "These magical tools of mine are top-tier treasures in the world, but compared to her, they’re just junk, completely useless."
"Let’s just open it." I said seriously.
After saying that, I directly channeled my spiritual power and pushed on the coffin.
The coffin was incredibly heavy, and even I had to put in serious effort to move it.
After more than ten minutes of struggling, I finally managed to crack the coffin open slightly.
During this time, the man with the mustache stood nervously by my side.
"Boom!"
With a loud crash, the coffin was finally pried open!
"What’s inside?" The man with the mustache rushed over in a hurry.
I frowned, "There’s no body inside? Weird..."
At a glance, there was a black bracelet, a painting, and some clothing inside the coffin.
"This clothing should be the woman’s." I commented while looking at the style.
The man with the mustache didn’t have time for my observations. He quickly grabbed the two treasures and said excitedly, "This...this really is hers!"
I furrowed my brow and asked, "Just a bracelet and a painting, with no spiritual energy on them. Can they even be called treasures?"
The man with the mustache glared at me and said, "You don’t know crap! For someone like her, even her clothes aren’t ordinary!"
I wanted to say more, but the man with the mustache waved his hand, "Let’s split this stuff quickly. I don’t want to stay here too long. This place gives me the creeps."
"I don’t want the clothes." I said first.
"As for the other two...I’ll take the painting. I’m a guy, and I can’t wear a bracelet."
The man with the mustache said with a pained expression, "To be honest, I don’t want to give you either of them..."
I joked, "If I kill you, then both these things would be mine."
The man with the mustache’s face darkened, and he grumbled, "Take it, take it, isn’t that enough?"
Taking the painting, I still didn’t feel anything different.
At first glance, it looked like an ordinary painting.
The stuff drawn on it also looked like symbols I couldn’t understand.
"After all that work, all I got was this broken painting." I muttered under my breath.
"At least the dark energy here is strong enough to support my training."
However, my first thought was to head back since I didn’t know what was happening outside.
And...I’d been missing for too long.
"Let’s go. Let’s just get out of here." The man with the mustache said with lingering fear.
I nodded, thinking of leaving for now.
"Boom!"
Just then, a loud noise rang out!
I frowned, about to speak, when the corpses lying next to the coffin suddenly stood up!
"We’re screwed!"
Hearing this sound, both our faces went white!
"We’re in deep trouble. These two male corpses are probably guardians. Let’s run!" The man with the mustache said in terror.
My face also turned extremely ugly, and I wanted to run too.
But when the two corpses raised their hands, a barrier appeared in front of us, blocking our escape route!
I didn’t dare slack off and immediately punched the barrier!
"Clang!"
But the barrier’s toughness exceeded my expectations, and I got knocked back instantly!
"Mason Raymond!" The man with the mustache shouted.
"These two male corpses are probably beings who surpassed mighty realm cultivators! We need to find a way to escape!"
