Chapter 61: Chapter 61 - Shattered Pride
Quinn O’Connor’s face transformed instantly when he heard my words!
He understood perfectly well that Luka Winston hadn’t been bribed—the gap in our abilities was simply too vast! Even Quinn lacked confidence in challenging my strength.
"Oh my, are you pretending now? Do you think you’re qualified to fight my dad?" Before Quinn could respond, Nola O’Connor’s sharp voice cut through the air.
I ignored her completely and fixed my cold gaze on Quinn. "Mr. O’Connor, please step forward."
Quinn inhaled deeply, forcing a smile onto his face. "Even if we must fight, I should face Mr. Gutierrez. What qualifications do you, a mere disciple, possess?"
"If you’re scared, just admit it. I won’t beat you up," I replied indifferently.
Nola shouted again, "Oh my, you’re really full of yourself, aren’t you?" Then she turned to Quinn and yelled, "Dad, teach him a lesson and take revenge for me! Break his legs!"
Her words were backing Quinn into a corner. At that moment, he probably wished Nola would just shut up.
"Mr. O’Connor, Miss Nola is right, teach this arrogant young man a lesson," others chimed in.
"Yes, Mr. O’Connor, just consider it educating a junior."
"Mr. O’Connor, beat him up!"
The chorus of voices placed Quinn in an impossible position. If he stepped up, he’d definitely lose to me. If he didn’t, the O’Connor Family Martial Arts School’s reputation would suffer even more.
"I... my stomach is not feeling well," Quinn lamely excused himself.
I sneered, "Mr. O’Connor, you probably don’t know that I’m also a doctor. The popular Soul Nourishment Pill in River City was made by me."
"I can testify," Kenneth quickly added.
Quinn gritted his teeth, but before he could fabricate another excuse, I said, "It seems you’re really scared. And you dare call yourself the top martial artist in River City?"
"Kid, don’t be too arrogant!" Quinn finally showed anger in his voice and stomped toward the stage.
"Don’t think I’m really afraid of you! I just don’t want to hurt you," Quinn said coldly.
I narrowed my eyes slightly. "People like you make me sick. Your daughter said she wanted to break my legs, and I am a reasonable person. I’ll only break both of your legs and not harm your life."
Quinn’s expression changed dramatically! Just as he opened his mouth, I stepped forward!
My speed was extraordinary, my fist intimidating, causing Quinn visible fright! I was far more powerful than he’d imagined.
"Not good!" Quinn recognized the danger and attempted to retreat.
I didn’t give him any chance. In an instant, I reached his side and kicked his calf.
A sickening crack echoed, and Quinn’s leg bent unnaturally.
"Ahh!!!" Intense pain made him scream!
I didn’t stop there. I lifted my foot again and kicked his other calf with a thump.
Another crack resonated as both his legs bent backward at strange angles. Having lost support, Quinn collapsed to his knees!
"Alright, I have broken both your legs, we’re even," I said coldly.
Quinn clutched his legs, his face contorted with agony! Sweat poured from his forehead as he writhed in pain.
The hall fell silent.
After a brief moment, surprise erupted like a tidal wave!
"How is it possible that Mr. O’Connor had no chance to fight back?"
"The number one martial artist in River City, lost just like that?"
"My god, this young man named Mason Raymond...has such amazing skills?"
"So...it seems that Mr. Gutierrez didn’t bribe Luka Winston after all?"
"No wonder he’s favored by the Sean family..."
Quinn looked utterly humiliated, probably wishing the floor would swallow him whole. If he’d known better, he never would have crossed me.
"Dad, dad, are you okay?" Nola rushed to Quinn’s side. She glared fiercely at me and snapped, "You are so ruthless!"
"He brought it upon himself," I responded coldly. "Your daughter should also take some responsibility."
With that final remark, I turned and left the stage.
"Call an ambulance quickly..." Quinn managed to gasp out.
"Yes, yes, call an ambulance!" Nola frantically reached for her phone.
Meanwhile, I exited the sports hall with Mikael Gutierrez and the others.
On our way back, Mr. Gutierrez couldn’t contain himself, "Mr. Raymond, thank you for your help. I, Gutierrez, will always remember your kindness!"
He then turned to his disciple and declared, "From today on, the Gutierrez Family Martial Arts School will give Mr. Raymond 10% of our profits."
His words genuinely surprised me. I waved dismissively, "Mr. Gutierrez, it’s not necessary. You’ve already given me a Panax ginseng."
"No, that ginseng was just to ask for your help," Mikael insisted.
"Today, your actions will bring significant revenue increase to the Gutierrez Family Martial Arts School. Ten percent of the profits are what you deserve," he added sincerely.
Seeing his determination, I stopped refusing.
We returned to Dragon Rising Community.
"Mr. Raymond, if you have time tonight, I’d like to invite you to dinner," Mikael offered.
Just as I was about to accept, my phone rang.
I checked the caller ID—Mabel Sean.
I stepped aside and answered promptly.
"Miss Sean," I couldn’t hide the smile in my voice.
"Mason, the great divine doctor, what are you up to?" Mabel asked playfully.
I laughed, "Nothing, just staying at home."
"Then... would you like to accompany me to a ball tonight? I just happen to need a dance partner," she suggested.
I hadn’t seen Mabel in several days, and my longing was unbearable. Without hesitation, I agreed.
After hanging up, I turned back to Mikael.
"Mr. Gutierrez, I’m afraid I won’t have time tonight," I smiled apologetically.
"Mr. Raymond...do you have plans?" Mikael inquired tentatively.
Before I could answer, Victor Green teased, "Look how happy he is. It must be Miss Sean who asked him out."
"Screw you," I kicked Victor’s butt.
Mikael’s face showed sudden understanding, and he bowed slightly. "Then I won’t disturb Mr. Raymond’s wonderful time."
