Chapter 599: Chapter 599 Where Immortals Were Slain

I didn’t have time to think and immediately began pulling out inner cores.

One, two, three...

I collected countless inner cores into my Spatial Magic Artifact.

But there were so many cores here that even with my technique, the process crawled along painfully slow.

Nearly an hour later, I’d managed to extract at least thousands of inner cores from under the island!

Unfortunately, my Spatial Magic Artifact hit its limit.

The whole thing was crammed full of inner cores.

"Damn it, what a waste." Staring at the endless inner cores spread before me, I felt my chest tighten with frustration.

If I could haul all these cores away, I’d never worry about qi problems again.

I wracked my brain but came up empty.

"Such a waste, such a waste." The words kept spilling from my lips.

I clenched my jaw. Since my artifact couldn’t hold anymore, I’d swallow them instead—as many as I could manage.

So I kept extracting cores, gulping down each one as I pulled it free.

At the same time, I quietly ran my Authentic Heart Technique to keep the massive qi surge from overwhelming my body.

After forcing down about twenty cores, I started hitting my limit.

I gritted my teeth and kept shoving them down my throat.

Right as I yanked out the eight thousand and thirty-seventh core, a massive gate materialized in front of me!

The gate towered above me, magnificent and imposing.

The overwhelming presence radiating from the large plaque felt completely out of place on the ocean floor.

Bold characters stretched across the plaque: Immortal Slaying Sect.

Such an arrogant name would make anyone’s blood run cold!

"That name’s pretty damn cocky," I muttered with a frown.

I stared at the gate, whispering, "Could it be... this whole island is actually a sunken sect?"

If that were true, this sect might’ve been around for ages!

Looking at the intimidating gate, waves of ancient energy washed over me.

I had no clue about this Immortal Slaying Sect’s background, but with such a huge operation, it had to be something special.

I activated my Saintly Body Skill for protection and crept toward the gate.

The gate creaked open slowly, revealing a shocking sight.

Instead of the fancy buildings I’d expected, complete chaos stretched out before me.

Everywhere I looked—bones! Endless skeletal remains! Not a trace of life!

The place looked like a war zone, with countless bones creating a terrifying landscape!

"Did someone... massacre this entire sect?" The possibility hit me like a punch.

The sect’s interior was packed with dried corpses, clearly the result of some catastrophe.

I picked my way deeper into the sect, when something hard crunched under my foot.

Looking down, I saw a skull beneath my boot.

I crouched and picked up the skull.

The bone looked like it had been sitting here for thousands of years, but amazingly showed no signs of decay.

I slowly squeezed my hands, trying to crush the skull.

To my shock, no matter how much force I applied, the skull wouldn’t break!

"What tough bone!" I couldn’t hide my amazement!

With my current strength, I could instantly crush a Marquis’s head! Yet this skull wouldn’t budge!

And this skull had been sitting here for thousands of years! Normal bones would crumble at a touch!

"I can’t even imagine what level this skull’s owner reached when they were alive." The thought sent chills through me.

I kept moving forward, picking up more bones along the way.

What blew my mind was that every single bone was incredibly hard—impossible to break!

"This Immortal Slaying Sect is absolutely terrifying!" I couldn’t help gasping.

Finding random bones this tough proved the Immortal Slaying Sect members were beyond anything I could imagine!

"What could’ve happened to such a powerful sect to get completely wiped out... Who the hell attacked them..." A chill crawled down my spine!

Compared to them, my strength seemed like nothing!

"The so-called invincible Marquis of today would’ve probably been garbage thousands of years ago." I whispered.

I dropped the bone and continued forward.

Soon, I reached the center of the Great Hall.

The Great Hall was also littered with dead bones, shattered magical artifacts, and broken swords scattered across the floor.

The bones in this hall seemed even tougher—even my Absolute Beginning Sacred Fist couldn’t crack them!

"Looks like the people in this hall were even stronger." I thought to myself.

What level did they reach when they were alive? Martial Saint? Or something beyond Martial Saint?

Martial Saints had already become legends in our current era, but in the bigger picture of cultivation, they weren’t worth mentioning.

Martial Saints were only at the Nascent Soul Realm in the cultivation world, and above Nascent Soul, there were Divine Annihilator, Returning to the Void, Synthesis, and Tribulation!

Based on my guess, these dead bones must’ve reached the Divine Annihilator realm during their lifetime!

"The Divine Annihilator realm... that’s real power." I couldn’t help sighing.

Divine Annihilators, also called mighty realm cultivators, were top-tier beings even in the cultivation world.

They said that stepping into the Mighty Realm gave you thousands of years to live. With one strike, you could destroy a small country—no less powerful than today’s ultimate weapons!

A sect with so many mighty realm cultivators got completely massacred; it’s mind-boggling how many talented people existed thousands of years ago.

Moving forward, at the far end of the Great Hall sat a chair.

And on that chair sat a skeleton with its back to the entrance!

I tiptoed toward the skeleton.

I could see the skeleton’s hair hanging loose, its flesh not completely rotted away, and its facial expression still visible.

Its face looked absolutely terrifying, as if it had been scared of something!

"This person must be the Sect lord of the Immortal Slaying Sect." I thought.

What level had the Sect lord reached?

I stretched out my hand and touched the skeleton.

In an instant, my brain felt like it got hit by lightning! A flood of images rushed into my mind!

"Ah!"

My face went white and I tried to pull back, but it was too late!

My entire consciousness seemed to merge with the dead skeleton, and scene after scene played out in my head!

In the visions, hundreds of cultivators were battling. Their techniques were truly world-shaking—just a casual move could tear apart the Void itself!

"What... what kind of level is this?!" Seeing their techniques, I couldn’t contain my shock!

Following the images, I saw a figure standing at the Immortal Slaying Sect’s gate entrance.

With a simple wave of her hand, dozens of people turned to dust!

"Could it be... that this person is the killer who destroyed the Immortal Slaying Sect?!" I shouted in disbelief.

In that case, the mighty Immortal Slaying Sect was actually wiped out by just one person?!

My eyes tracked that figure at the entrance.

Right then, I suddenly realized the figure looked somewhat familiar!
