Chapter 598: Chapter 598 A Sea Of Inner Cores
The so-called Demonic Beast Core was just a test; the real treasure lay hidden under the massive island.
This intel came from the Capital City Martial Arts Association, and it had to be reliable.
Staring out at the ocean, Hawk Thompson felt more restless by the minute.
He wouldn’t rest easy without laying eyes on Mason Raymond’s dead body.
——
Underwater.
My blood turned the water around me bright red.
I fought to crack my eyes open, still clutching the Venerable Fifth Mountain against my chest.
"Saved my life again..." I muttered, running my fingers gently over the Venerable Fifth Mountain.
I tried shifting my body, and pain shot through me from every direction.
The water made my wounds feel like they were on fire.
I peered around at the pitch-black surroundings.
Then I cast the Water Repelling Charm, lighting up a spiritual fire underwater.
I worked to steady myself in the water, stopping my fall.
I looked up toward the surface, but saw nothing but darkness above.
This meant I’d dropped deep into the ocean floor.
If my body wasn’t so tough, the water pressure would’ve crushed me to mush by now.
"In this state, if I run into a Demonic Beast... I’m dead meat." I scowled.
I pulled out the pill furnace the Pavilion Master gave me from my Spatial Magic Artifact, along with the herbs I’d been saving.
"I’ve got to use a Pill to patch myself up." I whispered.
I painfully threw the herbs into the pill furnace, lit the spiritual fire, and started making the Pill.
The Pill I was making was called Blood Clotting Pill, a basic kind you could whip up with regular herbs.
"Damn, using these herbs for Blood Clotting Pills... such a waste." I couldn’t help feeling sick about it.
But I didn’t have the luxury to worry about that; getting my body back in working order fast was what mattered.
——
Later that night.
Walton Greer burst up from the ocean surface.
He walked over to Hawk Thompson, shook his head, and said, "Couldn’t find him. I’m guessing he’s already dropped to the ocean floor."
Hawk shot Walton a look and said coldly, "Keep searching."
"Captain Thompson, trust me. That hit was definitely enough to kill Mason Raymond," Walton said quietly.
Hawk Thompson replied coldly, "This kid has a habit of cheating death. I won’t relax until I see his body."
Even though Walton didn’t want to, he had no choice but to follow Hawk Thompson’ orders and dive back into the ocean.
——
After who knows how long, I finally finished making eight Blood Clotting Pills.
Without wasting time, I popped the Pills right into my mouth.
The second the Pills hit my stomach, my body started healing up, slow but steady.
After three solid hours, my strength had come back more than halfway.
"Survive a disaster and come out ahead." I took a deep breath.
I looked up toward the surface but didn’t rush to head up.
"If I can’t get this Bracelet off, going up there’s a death sentence." I frowned.
I tried using raw strength to yank off the Bracelet, but it was hopeless.
The Bracelet felt like it had melted into my skin, impossible to remove.
"Am I stuck wearing this Bracelet forever?" I squeezed my eyebrows together.
But then I snapped out of it.
"No, this Bracelet has to have a time limit. Otherwise, the Capital City Martial Arts Association could basically control everyone with this thing!" I whispered.
Just like I figured, this Bracelet had to have a time limit.
If it lasted forever, it’d be some kind of divine artifact.
"I can only wait for now." I said seriously.
"The moment this Bracelet stops working, it’ll be Walton Greer’s time to die."
Even though I didn’t know if I was right, waiting was all I could do.
I controlled the Water Repelling technique, so staying under the sea wasn’t too risky.
I spread out my divine sense, covering a huge chunk of the surrounding ocean, picking up one aura after another.
Soon, I sensed the auras of several Marquis.
"These auras must be from the island above." I thought.
Marquis were hard to find, especially in places this remote. The only way there’d be marquis here was if it was Hawk Thompson and his crew.
Following these auras, I swam over. About an hour later, I spotted the huge island ahead of me.
The island was massive, and even weirder, it was floating in the water.
"Strange." I couldn’t help being shocked.
"Rootless Island? Then how’s this island staying in one spot?"
Ocean storms happened all the time, and if it had no roots, shouldn’t it be moving around constantly?
"This island’s not normal." I rubbed my chin, then pushed my spiritual power to get closer to the island.
As I got nearer to the island below, my view started getting brighter.
Ahead of me, it looked like countless lanterns were lit up, and though the light was dim, on this island, it looked downright eerie.
"Huh? What are those lights?" As I got closer to the island, I suddenly discovered that below the island were rows of faint lights!
Looking closer, there were beads stuck below the island!
At first glance, the beads were packed thick and countless!
"Could this be... Night-luminescent Pearl?" I couldn’t help wondering.
I rushed to the bottom of the island and took a careful look.
The beads weren’t big, just about the size of marbles, and all of them were stuck to the island.
I reached out, grabbed a bead, and instantly, a rush of qi poured out.
I was stunned, then excitement flashed in my eyes.
"Could it be... this is an inner core?!" I yelled!
I didn’t dare think too hard about it. I quickly swallowed the core.
Sure enough, a burst of qi exploded in my dantian!
"It’s... it’s really an inner core!" I shouted excitedly!
This island was huge, and inner cores completely covered the bottom of it!
At one glance, there were too many inner cores to count, at least tens of thousands!
"Rich... I’m rich!" I was thrilled, over the moon!
It was impossible to imagine this many inner cores in one place!
