Chapter 587: Chapter 587 An Invitation to Die
Holt Ava, like a dead dog, was thrown to the side.
The crowd witnessing this couldn’t help but gasp.
Many had wanted to challenge me, but now they all started having second thoughts.
"Well, well, Holt Ava, ninth on the rankings, looks completely powerless against Mason Raymond," Pearson Bowman said.
"Yeah, I told you before, once this kid reaches the Marquis level, hardly anyone can take him down," Wayne Ran added in a low voice.
"When people from different worlds clash, sparks are gonna fly. This experience won’t be boring."
...
I stood alone by the entrance, quietly waiting for the trial to begin.
My eyes stayed locked on the Capital City Martial Arts Association, the killing intent in my stare completely unhidden.
Every time I looked at that plaque, I couldn’t stop thinking about Mabel suffering somewhere inside.
"Damn it..." I clenched my fists tight.
"Nice moves, Mr. Raymond."
A voice came from beside me.
I turned and saw Elena Green.
"Who are you?" I looked at her, a flash of wariness in my eyes.
Elena Green smiled. "Mr. Raymond, no need to be on edge. I’m Elena Green, and I’m friends with Mabel."
"You know Mabel?" My eyes lit up with hope.
I stared at her eagerly. "Can you get Mabel out of there?"
Elena Green looked surprised. "What’s wrong with Mabel?"
My face went cold, teeth grinding as I answered. "The Capital City Martial Arts Association grabbed Mabel and locked her up in some prison."
"I don’t know what they’re planning, but Mabel’s hooked up to all kinds of tubes."
"Tubes?" Elena Green’s brow creased. "That doesn’t make sense. Mabel’s a Sean family miss. Why would the Capital City Martial Arts Association do that..."
I sneered. "The Sean family? They’re just a bunch of bastards. They don’t give a damn about Mabel."
Elena Green chuckled softly. "Mr. Raymond, don’t worry. I’m sure Mabel will be okay."
Her empty comfort meant nothing to me.
But being polite, I gave a slight bow. "Thanks, Miss Elena."
We both went quiet for a bit.
Then Elena Green suddenly spoke up. "Mr. Raymond, those tubes you mentioned... I think I remember something."
I quickly turned to look at her, waiting for what came next.
Elena Green said, "I’ve been in the Capital City Martial Arts Association library, and I saw this method in an old book."
"Those tubes you talked about, are they black and white?"
I nodded fast. "Yes!"
Elena Green went on. "That’s a technique called the Blood Oath."
"Blood Oath?" I was stunned - never heard that name before.
"Right, supposedly the Blood Oath targets special bloodlines in the person’s body. These bloodlines usually have incredibly strong bloodline power," Elena Green explained.
"If you get this bloodline, you can transform yourself and even artificially create a bunch of extraordinary people, forcibly passing on this powerful bloodline."
She paused, then asked, "I remember... Mabel isn’t a martial artist, she’s just a regular person, right?"
I frowned too. "Yeah, how could she have such strong bloodline..."
Elena Green laughed. "Maybe that’s it, but if so, you don’t need to worry too much."
"To keep extracting bloodline power, the Capital City Martial Arts Association would definitely keep Mabel safe. But of course, she’ll suffer."
My expression went strange.
I didn’t know whether to feel relieved or pissed off.
The good news was Mabel wasn’t in mortal danger, which gave me more time.
But this ongoing torture, these brutal methods - how could I not be furious?
"Mr. Raymond, I think you should worry more about your own safety right now," Elena Green smiled.
She pointed at a group nearby. "They’re all hostile toward you."
I glanced over - that bunch was Capital City rich kids.
Led by Alberto Sean, they all shot hostile looks my way.
"If I was scared of them, I wouldn’t have come," I said coldly.
Seeing this, Elena Green just smiled and stayed quiet.
Right then, another young guy walked over.
The guy looked weak and sickly, with this weird unhealthy vibe about him.
His aura was buried deep - even I couldn’t read him.
"You must be Mason Raymond," the young man said with a smile as he stopped in front of me.
I looked him up and down. "Who are you?"
"I’m Wilbert Jaxon. I’ve heard lots about you, Mr. Raymond, and today I finally meet you," the young man laughed.
"Wilbert Jaxon?" My eyebrows went up slightly.
That name rang a bell - I think he was ranked fifth, right next to me on the leaderboard.
"Your talent, Mr. Raymond, is really humbling. In just one year, you’ve already hit the Military Marquis Realm. I truly respect that," Wilbert Jaxon said with a bow.
Like they say, don’t hit someone who’s being nice. Even though I didn’t know this Wilbert Jaxon, I answered politely, "You’re too kind, Mr. Jaxon. I just got lucky."
"Luck is just what strong people say to be modest. You’re being too humble, Mr. Raymond," Wilbert Jaxon replied politely.
I nodded slightly without saying more.
"Mr. Raymond, I’ll go say hi to others. See you later," Wilbert Jaxon said with a smile.
"Sure," I nodded.
After Wilbert Jaxon left, I said thoughtfully, "He’s part of the Capital City crowd too, right?"
"Yes," Elena Green nodded slightly.
"But he keeps away from any group. He’s kind of an outsider among the Capital City rich kids."
I nodded without saying anything else.
People kept showing up at the plaza, and by around ten in the morning, almost everyone had arrived.
I looked around and spotted several familiar faces.
Including Walton Greer and Vance Johansson.
Though nobody drew lines, the crowd naturally split into two separate groups.
One group was led by Alberto Sean, representing the Capital City circle, and the other was made up of regular people.
Neither group paid attention to the other, but you could feel the tension between them.
At eleven in the morning.
The Capital City Martial Arts Association door slowly creaked open.
Then I saw Sybil Cooper, Phoebe Billy, and Hawk Thompson walk out.
"You’re all the best of the best, and this training session is an amazing opportunity for everyone," Sybil Cooper said warmly.
"The location for this training will be an island near the border. According to our intel, it’s loaded with qi and Demonic Beast Cores."
"Inner cores?" I raised an eyebrow.
The Demonic Beast Cores were probably the most tempting thing for me right now.
Sybil Cooper continued, "The last group who went on this training expedition all reached mid-level Military Marquis and are now in important positions at our Capital City Martial Arts Association."
"I trust everyone here will do even better!"
Hearing this, the crowd immediately erupted in excited chatter, and even I felt a bit moved.
"Please, everyone, settle down. Captain Thompson will go over the precautions shortly," Sybil Cooper chuckled.
After saying this, the three of them turned around and went back into the Martial Arts Association.
——
As they stepped inside, Sybil Cooper’s face turned cold.
He looked at Hawk Thompson and said icily, "Once you land on the island, kill all those lower-class people. Don’t leave a single one alive!"
