Chapter 583: Chapter 583 The Trap Is Set

I nodded.

Maybe this was what the Pavilion Master wanted all along.

In that whole meeting, I was probably the only one with the guts to speak up.

And the Pavilion Master knew exactly what kind of person I was - that’s why he dragged me along.

I had to admit, even though the meeting was brief, I’d definitely made an impression on those people.

"I think you’ll get some peace and quiet for a while after this," the Pavilion Master laughed.

I grunted and said, "If I die now, I bet those higher-ups will want someone’s head."

"Exactly," the Pavilion Master nodded with approval.

"Lord Pavilion Master, did you know I’d pull something like this?" I asked, confused.

The Pavilion Master just chuckled, neither confirming nor denying it.

As we walked out of the meeting, I spotted Sybil Cooper standing by the door, looking ice-cold.

He and Phoebe Billy rushed up to me, eyes narrowed. "Mason Raymond, you’ve got some nerve! Do you have any idea what your little stunt will cost?"

"Of course I do," I shot back coldly.

"Starting today, the Capital City Martial Arts Association’s grip on power will loosen, and everyone gets a shot at real training!"

Sybil Cooper kept sneering, eyes like slits. "Mason Raymond, you’re way too naive. With today’s words, you just stepped on every aristocratic family’s turf."

"Think they’ll just let you walk away?"

I sneered right back. "If I was scared, I wouldn’t have shown up."

"Good, good!" Sybil Cooper gave me a thumbs up.

He said coldly, "Don’t think we can’t touch you now. There’ll be plenty of chances. We’ll see."

After dropping that threat, Sybil Cooper turned and walked away.

I stared at his retreating figure, sneering over and over.

"No doubt about it, the Capital City Martial Arts Association will have to open up their resources." I said.

"Yeah, but watch yourself. If you join in, they won’t make it easy for you." The Pavilion Master nodded.

I said seriously, "Risk comes with opportunity. This is all I can do, otherwise... I don’t know when I’ll be able to save Mabel."

Seeing this, the Pavilion Master could only comfort me. "I’ll do everything I can to find someone to make Mabel’s life easier."

I nodded, then suddenly remembered something. "By the way, how’s Roberts Joshua?"

The Pavilion Master said quietly, "Still unconscious, but he’s not in danger."

I let out a relieved breath, cupped my hands, and said, "Lord Pavilion Master, when he wakes up, please tell him I’m grateful."

The Pavilion Master nodded slightly and said nothing more.

——

As soon as Sybil Cooper got in the car, his face turned stone cold.

"Damn it, damn it!" Sybil Cooper rarely cursed like this!

"Never thought I’d get played by Mason Raymond today, damn it!"

Phoebe Billy could only sigh and carefully asked, "President Cooper, if we report this to the higher-ups, they should handle it, right?"

Sybil Cooper looked at Phoebe Billy and snorted coldly. "Handle it? Mr. River represents the official side. Do they dare go against the officials?"

Phoebe Billy opened his mouth but could only try to comfort him. "Don’t worry, Mr. Thompson will definitely kill Mason Raymond as soon as possible."

"Screw that!" Sybil Cooper said with obvious displeasure.

"Call Hawk Thompson back right now."

Phoebe Billy was shocked. "Why? Mr. Thompson should be close to success..."

Sybil Cooper stated coldly, "Idiot! If we kill Mason Raymond now, what will Mr. River think? Want the Capital City Martial Arts Association to stand against the official side?"

Phoebe Billy suddenly got it, frowning. "So we just let Mason Raymond go?"

"Let him go?" Sybil Cooper sneered.

"If Mason Raymond wants resources, I’ll give them to him!"

"As long as he dares to show up, no one will know how he dies."

Hearing this, Phoebe Billy immediately understood the plan.

"President Cooper, I’ll arrange it right away! The Capital City Martial Arts Association has tons of resources on hand. We can easily pick one as bait." Phoebe Billy said with a grin.

Sybil Cooper warned him: "Remember not to overdo it. Only do enough to satisfy Mr. River."

"Got it, don’t worry." Phoebe Billy nodded slightly.

——

After parting with the Pavilion Master, I headed straight back to Chuzzle.

When I got home, the man with the mustache and Victor Green were chowing down on roasted lamb.

Both looked pretty happy, with several beer bottles sitting beside them.

Seeing me return, Victor Green quickly stood up. "Mr. Raymond, you’re back! Come grab a bite!"

I glanced at Victor Green. "Your dantian’s destroyed, and you’re still in the mood for barbecue?"

Victor Green grinned. "No need to worry. You’ll definitely help me out, right?"

I couldn’t help but smile bitterly. This Victor Green sure had a big heart.

"Where’s Mya Winona?" I looked around but didn’t see Mya anywhere.

Victor Green sighed. "Mya’s face got messed up, and she’s been in a horrible mood these past few days. You’ll have to figure something out."

I felt pretty uncomfortable too. If it weren’t for me, Mya would never have had to go through this.

Luckily, fixing a face wasn’t exactly rocket science for me.

"Man with the mustache, what did you need me for?" I asked.

The mustache man waved his hand, and a medicine prescription landed in front of me.

"Look, this is the prescription to save Zendaya Andrew," he said.

I picked up the prescription and glanced at it, surprise flashing in my eyes.

This man with the mustache wasn’t simple - he could even get his hands on something like this.

"Thanks." I nodded slightly.

Then I suddenly thought of something.

I looked at the mustache man seriously. "Man with the mustache, when are you going grave digging?"

The mustache man’s face darkened, and he rolled his eyes. "It’s called archaeology and historical research, not grave digging!"

"Fine, when are you doing archaeology?" I said helplessly.

The mustache man muttered, "Not sure, maybe in the next few days."

"From now on, when you do archaeology... I’m coming with you," I said.

The mustache man tossed aside the lamb in his hand and grinned. "Really? That’s awesome, I need a partner!"

"Really." I nodded.

Now, I had to grab every opportunity that might come my way. Maybe through the man with the mustache, I could find some real chances.

"Alright, I’ll let you know when I head out." The mustache man said cheerfully.

For the next few days, I couldn’t leave, because I knew the Capital City Martial Arts Association would make some kind of move.

Sure enough, three days later, the Capital City Martial Arts Association publicly posted a message on a forum:

To promote development in the martial arts world, the Capital City Martial Arts Association will open its private resources to the public.

Next Monday, we will select ten martial artists from the leaderboard to participate in our training experience.

Seeing this news, I couldn’t help but sneer.

This Capital City Martial Arts Association had zero shame. They were clearly being forced into this, yet they painted themselves as so noble. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
