Chapter 56: Chapter 56 - Broken Loyalty
My face instantly went cold when Quinn O’Connor spoke those words.
I never expected Quinn would turn against me so quickly, in the blink of an eye.
"Uncle Quinn, who is this person?" Luka Winston looked at me with a gentle smile plastered on his face.
Quinn replied indifferently: "I originally wanted him to help, but since you’re here, there’s no need for him anymore."
"That’s right, Luka! This bastard bullied me, you must take revenge for me!" Nola O’Connor added, practically steaming with anger.
"Oh? So he’s a skilled fighter too?" Interest filled Luka’s eyes as he walked over to me, asking nonchalantly: "Are you an Inner Strength Expert too?"
"No," I replied without hesitation.
I wasn’t lying; I really didn’t know what Inner Strength was, because I was a cultivator. Strictly speaking, I was much stronger than any so-called Inner Strength Expert. But Luka misunderstood, assuming I was just a weakling who hadn’t even developed Inner Strength yet.
"Daring to stand up for others when you’re not even an Inner Strength Expert?" A mocking glint flashed in Luka’s eyes.
I didn’t bother arguing with Luka. I stood up, looked at Quinn and said, "In that case, I’ll take my leave. But I hope you won’t regret this."
Quinn laughed and assured me, "Don’t worry, I won’t regret it."
"Master, you!" Kenneth looked extremely upset. He wanted to speak but stopped when I raised my hand.
"Mr. Raymond!" Quinn suddenly called out as I was walking away.
I halted in my tracks, turned around and said, "What is it, Mr. O’Connor?"
Quinn chuckled and said, "Could you please return that Pan ax ginseng C.A.Mey?"
My eyes narrowed slightly, my disdain for Quinn growing stronger by the second.
"What, you want to renege on returning it?" Nola stared accusingly at me.
I took a deep breath and said, "Have someone collect it at my house tomorrow."
"Master, you’re going too far!" Kenneth couldn’t help but yell in anger.
Quinn gave Kenneth a cold stare and scolded, "You still remember that I’m your master! Evan was bullied, yet you betrayed us!"
"I..." Kenneth fell silent, unsure what to say.
"Kenneth, let’s go," I patted his shoulder reassuringly.
"If you leave today, you’ll no longer be my disciple! From now on, I won’t teach you any more martial arts!" Quinn coldly shouted from behind us.
Kenneth stopped walking, and I looked at him, wondering what he would choose.
Kenneth turned around and walked step by step towards Quinn.
Seeing this, Quinn couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "That’s my obedient disciple!"
However, when Kenneth reached Quinn’s side, he bowed slightly and said, "Thank you for your guidance over the years. Today I finally see your true colors. From now on, there will be no gratitude between us."
After saying this, Kenneth tore off his own sleeve and threw it on the ground.
"What a display of breaking all friendly ties," Quinn’s face turned icy.
"Kenneth, think carefully! Once you leave today, you’ll never be able to learn my martial arts again!" Quinn roared as we started walking away.
I sneered, "Those half-baked skills you teach aren’t worth learning anyway."
"Hahaha! Young man, don’t be so arrogant!" Quinn laughed loudly. "Compared to ordinary people, you might be powerful, but in the eyes of us Inner Strength Experts, you’re nothing!" he continued.
I didn’t want to look at Quinn’s face any longer, so I said nothing more.
"Kenneth, let’s go," I called out, then walked towards the door.
We had just reached the door when Luka suddenly shouted, "Stop."
My footsteps halted. With my back to Luka, I said coldly, "Is there anything else?"
Luka smiled and said, "You bullied Evan, so this matter isn’t over yet."
I scoffed, "What, are you going to stand up for her?"
Luka laughed heartily, "Nola is my sister, of course I must stand up for her."
"Thank you, Luka! You’re the best to me!" Nola shouted excitedly.
"I want you to break her legs and kneel down to apologize to me!" Nola said viciously.
