Chapter 529: Chapter 529 Sacrifice Everything For Power
Watson’s words hit me like a punch to the gut.
I had to admit her idea might actually work. Dual cultivation with someone who had a pure dark energy body could bring incredible results.
But there was no way in hell I could go through with it.
I couldn’t accept anyone except Mabel Sean.
"Don’t worry, I’ve got this handled." I patted Watson’s head gently.
"I’m not just doing this for you - I’m doing it for Mabel too," Watson said, panic creeping into her voice.
I gave her a long look. "Think about it. If Mabel found out about this, how would you ever face her again?"
Watson’s mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. No words came out.
"Relax. It’s just Vance Johansson, right? Tomorrow I’ll crack his skull open myself." I forced a casual smile.
After dropping that bomb, I pulled Watson out of the room.
"See you all later." Before walking out, I glanced back at the group and gave a small bow.
"Mr. Raymond, I’m coming with you," Victor Green announced.
I looked at him and shook my head. "You’d just get in the way. Stay here."
"No way. I’m going with you no matter what!" Victor’s voice was firm.
I thought it over for a moment, then nodded. "Fine. Could use some company on the road."
After saying goodbye to everyone, I headed to the airport and caught a flight to Capital City.
This was my third trip to Capital City.
But my mindset this time was completely different from the previous visits.
Standing in Capital City Airport, I felt a crazy mix of nerves, worry, and excitement churning in my chest.
Eventually, all those emotions settled into a cold calm.
"Mr. Raymond, where to now?" Victor asked, staying close behind me.
My eyes narrowed. "The Sean family," I said coldly.
With Mabel’s safety on the line, the Sean family was my first stop after landing in Capital City.
"The Sean family?" Victor looked worried.
The Sean family had been trying to get rid of me forever. Walking into their territory now seemed like suicide.
"If you’re scared, go find a hotel," I told him.
Victor let out a bitter laugh. "All I’ve got is this worthless life. What’s there to be afraid of?"
"Then let’s go."
We grabbed a taxi and headed straight for the Sean family estate.
——
At the imposing entrance of the Sean family estate, an unexpected visitor had appeared.
He looked somewhere between thirty and forty, but carried himself with the weariness of someone much older.
This man was Duane Sean, trapped in his new body.
Nobody would have expected Duane Sean to show up at the Sean family estate.
Ever since Jerry Sean’s "death," everyone in and around the Sean estate had been replaced.
Even the guards at the gate were now familiar faces.
Duane stood there, staring at the Sean family estate he once knew so well, feeling an ache in his chest he couldn’t describe.
"Hey, that guy looks suspicious," one guard said after a while, noticing Jerry Sean.
"I swear he looks like the person Mr. Sean’s been hunting," another guard whispered.
The two guards exchanged looks, then suddenly rushed forward, grabbed Jerry Sean, and dragged him into the manor.
Duane’s brow furrowed as he stared coldly at the two men. "What the hell do you think you’re doing?"
"What do we think we’re doing? Don’t pretend we don’t know you pissed off Mr. Sean. He’s been hunting you down!" the bodyguard snarled.
"You’ve got some nerve showing up at the Sean family estate!"
Without another word, they hauled Jerry Sean to the manor’s main hall and called Logan Sean.
After the phone call, Logan raced over to the Sean family estate.
"Where is he?" Logan snapped the moment he walked through the door.
"Mr. Sean, he’s right here." The bodyguard quickly pointed to Duane beside them.
The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife as father and son locked eyes.
Logan stared hard at the Duane in front of him, his expression growing strange.
Even though Jerry Sean had switched bodies, his attitude and the look in his eyes were exactly the same as before.
This sent chills down Logan’s spine and stirred up genuine fear inside him.
Even as the Sean family’s heir, Logan couldn’t help feeling incredibly nervous in front of his father.
"You can go now," Logan said with a frown, waving his hand.
After dismissing the bodyguards, Logan sat down directly across from Duane.
This father-son reunion had no joy or excitement - just raw tension.
"Logan, you’ve really made something of yourself," Duane said coldly.
Logan’s face changed again. He opened his mouth but couldn’t find any words.
"So now that you’ve taken over the Sean family, you want to get rid of me?" Duane asked icily.
Logan clenched his teeth, knowing there was no going back. No amount of talking would help now.
So he gathered his courage and looked directly at Duane.
"Dad, if you’re willing, I can let you live comfortably for the rest of your days and give you whatever you want," Logan said through gritted teeth.
"You can keep living in the Sean family estate. Whatever you need, I’ll have someone get it for you. But... you can’t leave."
Hearing this, Duane burst out laughing. "You want to put me under house arrest? Just like you did with Mabel?"
"Dad, this is for everyone’s good," Logan replied coldly.
"You’re getting old. Why not just enjoy life instead of fighting until you die?"
Duane scoffed. "So I should be grateful for your kindness?"
Logan stayed quiet.
He sighed, then spoke slowly. "I knew you wouldn’t agree. Given your personality, you wouldn’t let me off the hook either, would you?"
Duane squinted. "What’s the rush? I’ve got three years left at most. The Sean family will still end up yours after that."
"End up mine? Who knows if you’ll pass it to Mabel instead!" Logan hissed angrily.
He suddenly shot to his feet and shouted, "The Sean family is mine, and only mine! Nobody else has any right to it besides me!"
"For the position of Sean family heir, I can sacrifice everything! I can eliminate anything that gets in my way! Even if it’s you!"
Duane looked at the Logan before him and spoke seriously. "Power has already blinded you completely."
Logan couldn’t be bothered to listen to this lecture. He glared at Duane and said, "Dad, I’m giving you two choices. Either stay in the Sean family estate and enjoy your remaining years, or..."
He didn’t finish the sentence, but the meaning was crystal clear.
"You should know that as long as I don’t recognize you as Duane Sean, then you’re not," Logan said, lighting a cigar.
Duane laughed coldly. "You don’t have what it takes to threaten me. If you really have the guts, just do it."
