Chapter 520: Chapter 520 A Name For The Power
The moment Phoebe Billy boarded the aircraft, he quickly fired off a text message.
The message went straight to the Capital City Martial Arts Association’s leadership.
——
Right now, countless Capital City Martial Arts Association members were nervously eyeing me.
My fighting power had already crushed any hope they had of putting up resistance.
If we clashed now, they’d probably stand no chance.
I studied the group, staying quiet for a bit.
"You planning to kill us?" someone finally spoke up.
I rubbed my chin, thinking it over before answering, "I’ll let you all live, but you need to give me every herb you’ve got."
They exchanged looks.
This could work out okay.
"Hand them over willingly before I start searching you myself. Trust me, you won’t like how that goes," I said, stomping my foot on the ground.
Without another word, everyone pulled out their herbs and set them down in front of me.
Every single herb they’d grabbed from under the Stone Tablet ended up in my hands.
Apart from what they’d used over the past few days, there were three herbs over five thousand years old.
Once I’d gathered everything, I turned back to face them.
"Running off when things get tough and ditching everyone else? This is your famous Capital City Martial Arts Association?" My voice dripped with mockery.
"Honestly, you’d probably be better off following me. At least I wouldn’t bail on you to save my own skin," I said, half-kidding, half-serious.
"Mason, you’re being way too naive," a young guy said seriously.
This young man was Males Ran. He came from the Ran family in Capital City and was a half-step Martial Marquis.
"Sure, we’ll give you credit for being strong, but do you really think we joined the Capital City Martial Arts Association just to get better at fighting?" Males Ran went on.
I looked at him and gestured for him to keep talking.
Males got to his feet and explained, "The Capital City Martial Arts Association’s resources go way beyond just martial arts strength."
"Put it this way - the Capital City Martial Arts Association works like a business empire. It brings our circle together and makes sure our connections stay private."
Males shot me a look and added, "Plus, it stops people like you from climbing up out of nowhere and messing with our spots."
I was speechless for a second.
I hadn’t expected Males to lay it all out like that.
More importantly, what he said actually made sense.
"I know what’s going through your head. You want to either replace us or wipe us out," Males Ran continued.
"Either way, you definitely can’t pull it off with what you’ve got right now."
After dropping that bomb, Males went quiet.
He glanced around at everyone before walking away.
Watching Males leave, I couldn’t help rubbing my chin.
"This Ran family... pretty interesting," I thought to myself.
The others didn’t stick around either. They all stood up and took off.
You had to admit, after all these years in Capital City, the bonds between the different families had become rock solid.
Sure, they had their fights and secret wars, but all their battles stayed inside this circle.
In today’s world, money had gotten ridiculously powerful.
"Alright, they’re gone. You can come out now," I called to the guy hiding under the cliff.
The mustached man carefully peeked out.
After checking that the coast was clear, he brushed the dirt off himself.
"They actually left. Man, buddy, I’ve got to hand it to you for going after the Capital City Martial Arts Association like that," the mustached man said with amazement.
I glanced at him and said, "Cut the chatter, let’s get to work."
Then the mustached man pulled out his equipment and got started on the Dragon Vein.
——
Capital City Martial Arts Association.
Phoebe Billy sat in the conference room looking scared and pale.
His face was a mess - you could see the terror written all over it.
"Phoebe, you were supposed to lead the team to the Dragon Vein, but you came back by yourself like this? Where’s everyone else?" someone asked coldly.
"Those people are all from powerful families. They’re also the top fighters in our Capital City Martial Arts Association. But you just left them behind and ran back alone. What happened to taking responsibility?"
"If you’re that scared of dying, you shouldn’t be Vice President."
Phoebe’s expression shifted, and he quickly defended himself, "I’m not scared of dying! I came back because there’s something critical I need to tell you all!"
"Critical? Let me tell you something - if even one of them dies, you won’t be able to handle what comes next," someone replied icily.
Phoebe’s face turned horrible. He clenched his teeth, stood up and said, "What I’m about to tell you is definitely more important than their lives!"
"Bullshit!" someone yelled, their voice packed with powerful Inner Strength that hit Phoebe directly.
Even though Phoebe was a half-step Martial Marquis, that single shout sent him flying and coughing up blood!
This made people wonder just how strong the hidden authority figures really were!
"Let him talk. If he can’t give us a good reason today, he doesn’t need to stick around in the Capital City Martial Arts Association," a woman’s voice cut in.
Phoebe quickly bowed and said, "We’ve been watching Mason Raymond before, but we didn’t take him seriously enough."
"What we knew about him was just his problems with the Johansson and Sean families."
"To us, he looked like a regular guy with decent martial arts skills, but no connections or teacher."
"But today... he pulled off a technique."
Phoebe stopped there.
From the shadows, someone asked, "What technique?"
"Cosmic form," Phoebe said those words.
When he mentioned the cosmic form, the whole conference room went dead silent.
Finally, someone spoke up, "You sure it’s the cosmic form?"
Phoebe answered, "I’m absolutely sure! His cosmic form might not be perfect, but it’s definitely the cosmic form!"
"Cosmic form... that brings back memories."
"Not many people in the world can pull off the cosmic form."
"Not many at all; based on what we know, only one person has ever used the cosmic form, and they almost brought down our Capital City Martial Arts Association."
Phoebe quickly jumped in, "I think Mason Raymond has ties to that person! If we let him keep getting stronger, we’re in serious trouble!"
At this point, Phoebe stood up and announced, "I’m saying we should send our best people right now to take out Mason Raymond!"
