Chapter 510: Chapter 510 Cannot Be Allowed To Live
My loud shout grabbed everyone’s attention.
Phoebe Billy spun around fast, his cold stare finding me in the crowd.
Recognition hit his face, bringing both frost and twisted amusement.
"Mason Raymond?" Billy looked me up and down, his smile thin. "What brings you here?"
"What I do ain’t any of your damn business," I shot back without mercy.
Billy wasn’t fazed. He chuckled. "Last time we met, you were just a master... hell, maybe even a grandmaster?"
"Now I’m your daddy," I mocked.
"Mason, I knew from day one you and Miss Sean would crash and burn. Looks like I called it right." Billy kept going.
"I’m screwing your mom, stay out of it," I snorted.
That finally broke Billy.
His face went dark, voice turning ice cold. "Mason, you used to show me respect, called me Mr. Billy—now that you’ve hit half-step Martial Marquis, you think you’re hot shit?"
"How was I supposed to know you were scum back then?" I laughed.
Billy’ eyes went narrow. "Mason, you got no fear. Should’ve put you down when I had the shot."
I let out a cold laugh. "Go ahead and try. I remember that look of disgust in your eyes real clear."
Billy raised an eyebrow. "You think you can take me?"
"You’re damn right welcome to find out!" My anger exploded, qi bursting from me like a bomb.
Phoebe Billy went quiet, face cold as winter.
In the end, he didn’t throw the punch.
"This is Capital City Martial Arts Association turf. Out of respect for Miss Sean, I’ll let your little tantrum slide," Billy said, voice like ice.
"Get lost before you get yourself arrested!"
I chuckled. "Capital City Martial Arts Association turf? You don’t own jack shit of these public spots. Whoever takes it, keeps it."
Billy’ eyes went thin. "Mason, you trying to pick a fight with the whole Capital City Martial Arts Association?"
"Billy, I know exactly what kind of dirty crap your association pulls," I sneered. "Sending spies after me, plotting to kill me in the shadows—you think I’m blind?"
"Fight you all? Were we supposed to be buddies?"
Billy’ face went ugly. After a beat, he said coldly, "Seems the higher-ups were right. You can’t be allowed to live."
That got my attention.
I looked at Billy, confusion in my voice. "What the hell’s that supposed to mean?"
Billy ignored my question, switching topics. "So you’re not leaving today?"
"What do you think?" I answered.
I walked straight to the young guy and girl, helping them stand up.
"Don’t sweat these clowns. The Capital City Martial Arts Association pretends to be neutral, but they’re just a pack of animals who use power to crush people," I said sharply.
The young guy and girl looked at me with pure admiration.
"You’re Mason Raymond? Everyone says Mason Raymond treats people fair—guess it’s true!" They said, all excited.
"Don’t party yet. Make sure you pick the right side," Billy warned coldly.
Hearing that, their faces went white fast.
"Don’t worry. I’ll keep you safe," I said casually.
Phoebe Billy sneered but kept his mouth shut.
Right then, a war started in the martial arts world—regular folks like me versus the rich elite and their fancy families.
Looking at the mountain terrain, I tried to feel for qi.
But standing here, I couldn’t sense a damn thing.
That left me totally confused.
A Dragon Vein should be where qi comes together. How the hell was there nothing here?
"Weird, this ain’t what I expected," the guy with the mustache muttered, staring at his map.
I glanced at him. "You find something?"
The mustached guy jumped back fast, muttering, "I don’t know you that well. Can’t let you drag me down—I got big plans and can’t afford to die."
I rolled my eyes. "Turns out you’re just a coward."
"Hell yeah I am!"
The mustached guy seemed weirdly proud of being scared to death. I couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and stuck around to watch, same as Phoebe Billy and the rest.
"Mr. Raymond, can we really follow you?" Right then, the young guy and girl came up to me.
I looked at them. "I’ll try to keep you alive on this trip. As for following me... we’ll talk about that later."
Right now, my main focus was my fight with Vance Johansson.
Whether they could tag along wasn’t something to stress about yet.
After quick introductions, turns out the guy and girl were brother and sister. The boy was Jovani Suzanne, the girl was Amiya Suzanne. Both had Grandmaster-level skills, showing decent potential.
They stuck close to me, going wherever I went.
Time dragged on, and I’d spent an hour watching without figuring out what was off about this Dragon Vein.
"No wonder nobody lives here," I sighed.
A Dragon Vein should be a blessed spot for both people and earth.
But this place didn’t have a trace of qi—how could it be a Dragon Vein?
If the Pavilion Master hadn’t told me, who’d think this wasteland was a Dragon Vein?
Maybe that’s exactly why the Dragon Vein stayed untouched all this time.
"Hmm... so that’s how it works," the mustached guy mumbled to himself.
Rubbing his chin, he announced happily, "I’m gonna get rich today!"
I glanced at him. "Get rich? You think the Capital City Martial Arts Association’s gonna let that slide? Watch out you don’t lose your life before you make your money."
The guy didn’t care. He muttered, "I’m not going to the Dragon Vein, why would they want me dead?"
"Not going to the Dragon Vein? Then what the hell are you doing here?" I asked casually.
The guy waved his hands fast. "Nothing, just talking bullshit."
I didn’t put much stock in his words—the guy was always half-crazy anyway.
"Mason Raymond!"
Suddenly, someone shouted from far off.
Turning to look, I saw a young guy, barely twenty, walking straight toward me.
The young guy was Dahlia Sean.
"What do you want?" I asked, not caring much.
Dahlia stood with his hands behind his back, smiled a little and asked, "I heard that you, at peak Grandmaster, beat a half-step Martial Marquis. That true?"
"So what if it is, so what if it ain’t?" I shot back.
Before Dahlia could answer, Billy cut in. "Sean, you’re no match for him. Don’t do something stupid."
"If he can beat a half-step Martial Marquis as a Grandmaster, then why can’t I!" Dahlia snapped back.
