Chapter 490: Chapter 490 Nothing But A Bug
The Fifth Elder’s eyes blazed with anticipation, locked on the doorway.
Under both men’s watchful stares, the door groaned open slowly.
Then, I emerged step by step.
The Fifth Elder jumped up and seized my arm.
His face glowed red with excitement, tears pouring down as his voice shook, "Mason, you... you’re finally out..."
As he spoke, tears and snot streamed down the Fifth Elder’s face without shame.
I stared in bewilderment, my voice confused as I asked, "Fifth Elder, what’s wrong with you?"
Right away, I spotted the Second Elder, battered and bruised.
I rushed over to steady the Second Elder and said frantically, "Second Elder, you... what happened? Who hurt you?"
The Second Elder gripped my hand tight and said icily, "Mason, no matter what, you have to get revenge for us!"
"What the hell happened?" I started to feel something was seriously wrong.
The Second Elder and Fifth Elder quickly filled me in on everything.
As they talked, I got madder and madder, murderous fury rolling off me like a hurricane!
"You’re telling me... the Pavilion Master got taken by the Great Saint Sect?" My face turned stone cold.
The Pavilion Master had been incredibly good to me, pulling me out of danger over and over, even giving me tons of resources.
That kind of debt, I could never forget.
"If the First Elder hadn’t secretly poisoned him, those half-step Martial Marquises never could’ve beaten the Pavilion Master!" Second Elder snarled.
I took a long breath.
With huge effort, I pushed down the fury burning in my chest, bent down a little, and said, "Second Elder, take your time healing up. I’m gonna deal with the First Elder now!"
"As for the Great Saint Sect... I, Mason Raymond, will definitely pay them a visit!"
No matter what, I wasn’t gonna let the Pavilion Master get hurt!
"Fifth Elder, I’m leaving the Second Elder in your hands," I said, turning to look at the Fifth Elder.
The Fifth Elder nodded and said, "Got it, be careful."
I didn’t say another word; I turned and walked toward the Pavilion Master Building.
——
At the Pavilion Master Building.
The First Elder was lounging in a rocking chair.
A pot of red tea sat in front of him—the Pavilion Master’s favorite tea from back in the day.
Next to him, two servants stood nervously, their faces white with fear as they didn’t dare say a word against the First Elder.
"What’s this? You don’t want to serve me?" the First Elder said coldly.
The servants immediately straightened up and whispered nervously, "N-no, we wouldn’t dare."
"Remember, starting today, I’m the new Pavilion Master of the Divine Alchemist Pavilion!" the First Elder said coldly.
"If you want to keep living, you better forget Finn Darby!"
The servants stayed quiet, bowing to the First Elder as they carefully served him.
Deep down, the First Elder felt some weird uneasiness.
By his calculations, tomorrow was when Mason Raymond would come out of seclusion.
If he really managed to break into half-step Martial Marquis, that would be trouble the First Elder couldn’t handle.
"I hope the Michelle Sect doesn’t let me down," the First Elder thought grimly.
Just then, he suddenly felt crushing murderous intent bearing down on him!
The bone-chilling killing spirit hit him like freezing water, making the First Elder’s body go stiff with fear.
He quickly sat up and yelled in panic, "Who’s there!"
"The guy who’s gonna kill you."
A cold voice came from the shadows.
Looking into the darkness, he saw a young man standing on top of the Pavilion Master Building.
The young man’s face was ice cold, his fists clenched tight, and the scary pressure coming off him made it hard to breathe!
"E-Mason Raymond!"
When the First Elder saw who it was, his face completely changed!
I stepped forward slowly, grinding my teeth as I said, "The Pavilion Master always treated you like family, but you worked with the Great Saint Sect to betray him."
"First Elder, how are you gonna pay for what you did?"
Hearing that powerful shout, the First Elder felt like his soul left his body!
He pushed down the pure terror rising inside him, trying his best to stay calm as he said, "Mason, things aren’t as simple as you think..."
"Smack!"
Before the First Elder could finish, a flash of golden light slapped him hard across the face!
"You ungrateful piece of trash!" I said through clenched teeth.
The First Elder covered his face, his voice angry as he said, "You dare hit me? Mason, even if you broke through, I’m not scared of you! I’m also a half-step Martial Marquis!"
"Half-step my ass!"
A roar, packed with spiritual power and overwhelming force, rolled forward like thunder!
The First Elder felt sharp pain in his throat and spat up blood right away!
Just one shout from me had hurt the First Elder’s body—what kind of power was this?!
Keep in mind, the First Elder was really a half-step Martial Marquis!
"You..." Feeling that force, the First Elder’s face went dark.
My stare was freezing, and the way I looked at the First Elder was like looking at a tiny bug.
"A half-step Martial Marquis is nothing special," I said coldly.
The First Elder’s face went white, his mind racing frantically.
After a second, he changed his expression and forced a nervous smile, "Mason, this... this is all just a mix-up... let me explain..."
"Explain?" I sneered over and over.
With a flick of my fingers, two beams of golden light shot out!
"Crack!"
In no time, the First Elder’s knees exploded, and with a "thud," he crashed to the ground!
"Kneel first, then talk!" I said coldly.
The First Elder’s face twisted with pain! He, a respected half-step Martial Marquis, had never been humiliated like this!
What scared him even more was that I stood in front of him like a bottomless ocean, my real power impossible to measure!
"Mason, this has nothing to do with me—the Great Saint Sect forced me!" the First Elder begged desperately.
Deep down, the First Elder screamed—he just needed to survive until tomorrow, when the ten half-step Martial Marquises from the Michelle Sect would arrive.
Then, everything would flip around for him!
So, for now, the First Elder was doing everything he could to buy time with me.
But I would never give him that chance. Slowly walking toward the First Elder, my voice was ice cold as I said, "Don’t worry, I won’t let you die too fast. I’ll make sure you suffer forever, kneeling in the Divine Alchemist Pavilion’s square..."
"Mason, please... don’t do anything crazy! I... Let’s talk this through!" The First Elder’s face filled with panic!
I sneered, "Talk my ass! Scum like you should die a hundred times over."
Feeling the murderous intent pouring off me, panic grew deeper in the First Elder’s expression.
He gritted his teeth and yelled angrily, "I’m also a half-step Martial Marquis, Mason, don’t push me too far!"
"A half-step Martial Marquis? So what?" I said, sneering coldly.
"In my eyes right now, you’re nothing but a bug."
The First Elder’s rage exploded as his energy burst out; countless sharp rays of light swirled around his palms.
"I refuse to believe you’re unbeatable!" the First Elder roared furiously, shoving his palm toward me!
I stayed completely still, not moving as the huge force of the First Elder’s palm came at me.
