Chapter 487: Chapter 487 A Traitor Takes The Throne
Word of the Medicine God Pavilion Lord being captured spread like wildfire.
"Can’t believe the Medicine God Pavilion Lord actually lost. What a shame."
"From what I heard, eight half-step Martial Marquises ganged up on Medicine God Pavilion that day!"
"The Pavilion Master took on all eight by herself and held back from killing anyone. Hard to say who would’ve won otherwise."
"Plus, word is she was poisoned and couldn’t even use half her real power."
"Really catches you off guard. Medicine God Pavilion had connections everywhere, but when push came to shove, nobody showed up to help."
People talked about it everywhere, feeling sorry for Medicine God Pavilion.
But everyone knew the truth deep down—the more power you have, the higher you climb.
And the higher you climb, the more you care about what benefits you. Feelings don’t mean squat anymore.
——
The Great Saint Sect.
After who knows how long, the Pavilion Master finally came to.
She found herself locked up in the Great Saint Sect’s dungeon, darkness all around her.
But the Pavilion Master’s expression stayed eerily calm, not a hint of fear showing.
Right then, noise came from outside.
She looked over and spotted Elder Adrianne sneaking in.
"Well, well, look who’s awake." Seeing the Pavilion Master had come around, Elder Adrianne let out a string of nasty laughs.
"Ha, weren’t you all high and mighty before? How’s it feel being locked up like an animal?" Elder Adrianne smirked, getting closer with his endless taunts.
The Pavilion Master gave him a cool look and said, "You came here alone. Planning to die?"
Elder Adrianne froze, about to respond, when his whole body suddenly went flying sideways!
"Boom!"
Elder Adrianne’s body slammed hard into the wall behind him.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Elder Adrianne hadn’t even caught when or how the Pavilion Master moved.
"Even locked up, I’m not someone worthless trash like you can mess with," the Pavilion Master said casually.
Elder Adrianne wiped the blood from his lips, fury flashing in his eyes as he said, "What’s there to show off about!? One word from me and I can have you killed in this cage!"
As he spoke, Elder Adrianne even licked his lips, staring with disgusting lust while saying, "Heard you’re still untouched. Once I break you, I’ll have a real good time with your first!"
The Pavilion Master’s face went cold, her voice sharp as ice as she replied, "You really want to die, don’t you?"
"Hahaha, what exactly can you do to me?" Elder Adrianne kept sneering.
Just then, the door opened again.
A tall man in white robes walked in.
Seeing him, Elder Adrianne quickly bowed respectfully, "Greetings, Sect Master."
The Sect Master waved him off and said, "You can go now."
After dismissing Elder Adrianne, Atkinson Samson, the Sect Master, walked up to the Pavilion Master.
"Finn Darby, been a while," Atkinson Samson said quietly.
Finn Darby?
Atkinson Samson actually called the Pavilion Master by name?
The Pavilion Master glanced at Atkinson Samson and said calmly, "Looks like that old grudge still eats at you."
Hearing this, anger instantly flashed across Atkinson Samson’s face.
He glared at the Pavilion Master and roared almost hysterically, "Finn Darby! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended up like this! Because of you, I can’t even have kids of my own!"
Finn Darby replied coolly, "Who told you to be so pathetic?"
"Pathetic?!" Atkinson Samson burst into cold laughter.
"Right now, I’m a freshly promoted Martial Marquis!"
"And you? You’re nothing but a prisoner!"
Finn Darby stayed unbothered, raising an eyebrow as she said, "Think I won’t get my shot at becoming a Martial Marquis?"
Atkinson Samson froze, his brow furrowing as he asked, "What’s that supposed to mean?"
Finn Darby replied calmly, "I don’t owe you any explanations."
The Pavilion Master’s attitude clearly set Atkinson Samson off.
"Locked up like a dog, and you still dare act so cocky!" Atkinson Samson said, clenching his fists.
"Wonder how long you can keep up that attitude!"
Finn Darby smiled slightly. "Sure thing. I wonder how long it’ll take you to have kids of your own."
Atkinson Samson’s body went rigid before he let out a cold snort.
Turning to the guards nearby, he said, "Starting today, she gets no food and no water!"
"Yes, sir!" the two guards shouted back.
——
Time raced by; before anyone knew it, three days had passed.
I had been in closed-door training for twenty-seven days.
Only three days left before hitting the one-month mark.
——
During these days, the First Elder had seized control of Medicine God Pavilion and announced himself as the new Pavilion Master to the world.
Not only that, he called back all the alchemists who were previously on break!
Standing on the pavilion square, the First Elder stood with his hands behind his back, radiating confidence.
Below him were dozens of alchemists from Medicine God Pavilion.
"Starting today, I’m the new Pavilion Master of Medicine God Pavilion," the First Elder said calmly.
The room went dead silent; nobody said a word.
Frowning a bit, the First Elder said, "What, didn’t you hear me? Want me to say it again?"
"First Elder, you betrayed Lord Pavilion Master. What gives you the right to stand here and call yourself the new Pavilion Master?"
"Exactly, we only recognize Lord Pavilion Master!"
The First Elder’s face darkened, his voice turning icy as he said, "What, without Finn Darby, does Medicine God Pavilion just stop existing?!"
"Medicine God Pavilion was built from scratch by Lord Pavilion Master. It can’t fall into the hands of backstabbers like you!" someone yelled from below.
Hearing this, the First Elder exploded with rage!
He immediately raised his hand and smacked the speaker across the face!
"Crack!"
The alchemist’s head instantly burst like a watermelon from the blow!
Scanning the crowd with cold eyes, the First Elder declared, "Anyone else want to defy me?!"
The crowd fell silent; nobody dared speak.
"First Elder, I’m quitting Medicine God Pavilion," a young man suddenly stepped forward.
Taking the token from his waist, he smashed it on the ground.
"I’m quitting too!"
"Me too!"
In no time, almost all the alchemists pulled out their tokens, smashing them to bits!
The First Elder shook with anger, shouting furiously, "Anyone who quits, I’ll kill them!"
"What, we don’t even have the right to quit?" someone below shot back angrily.
The First Elder gave him a cold stare, narrowing his eyes as he said, "Looks like you’re asking for it!"
The First Elder’s palm lit up, radiating waves of killing intent.
"Everyone, please listen to the First Elder,"
At that moment, the Fifth Elder stepped forward.
Looking around at the crowd, he said seriously, "Don’t act rashly; follow the First Elder’s orders."
"Medicine God Pavilion wasn’t built overnight; letting it fall apart like this would be too sad," the Fifth Elder sighed.
But those below were filled with rage, shouting accusations, "Fifth Elder, you’re betraying us too?"
"You really are spineless!"
"What, you’ll serve whoever feeds you?"
Accusations flew at the Fifth Elder from every direction.
The Fifth Elder could only smile bitterly.
His gaze unconsciously drifted toward the warehouse, and he muttered under his breath, "Three days left... Just hold on three more days, and Mason Raymond will come out of training..."
