Chapter 481: Chapter 481 A Serpent In The Pavilion

Dark wisps of energy poured from every pore on my body.

My eyes locked onto the space before me as I sensed the changes happening in my organs and bowels.

The aches and troubles of ordinary life seemed to disappear in this instant, like my body had entered a completely different world.

Right then, two brilliant beams shot from my eyes, my power quietly and steadily growing.

Getting to my feet, I squeezed my fists tight, whispering, "My power has definitely gotten stronger, but... I’m still not quite at half-step Martial Marquis level."

Even though half-step Martial Marquis wasn’t an official cultivation stage, once someone reached it, the gap between them and a Grandmaster became massive.

And right now, I hadn’t felt that kind of change yet.

"Looks like I need to keep training." I muttered quietly.

After thinking it over for a bit, I decided to go outside for some fresh air and figure out how much time had passed.

But when I got to the door, I found it wouldn’t budge.

Some incredible force had locked the door completely shut.

Even my physical strength couldn’t break through it.

"Must be the forbidden power the Pavilion Master set up," I thought to myself.

If that was true, then the month wasn’t over yet.

"Whatever. Time’s limited, so I might as well keep cultivating." I whispered again.

——

Outside.

The Lord of the Medicine God Pavilion drove back the attackers from the Great Saint Sect with just one strike.

More crucially, that single blow crushed their spirit, making them unwilling to mount any serious attacks anytime soon.

The Divine Alchemist Pavilion had a brief moment of calm.

At a hotel several miles from the Divine Alchemist Pavilion.

Skyler Howe stumbled through the entrance, looking beaten up and messy.

His face was completely dark, like he’d just gotten chewed out badly.

"So? What did the sect master say?" Elder Adrianne asked with clear satisfaction in his tone.

Skyler shot Elder Adrianne a deadly look, staying completely silent.

Obviously the sect master had turned down his request and given him a harsh talking-to.

"With just our small group, taking down the Divine Alchemist Pavilion is going to be almost impossible," Skyler grumbled under his breath.

The others gave slight nods of agreement.

After their quick fight, they’d already figured out that the Lord of the Medicine God Pavilion had unbelievable strength—way beyond what they could handle!

"The sect master said if we don’t finish this job, we shouldn’t bother coming back," Skyler said with a cold grunt.

Elder Adrianne yawned and said, "Some people were so eager to grab credit that they rushed to take this on, and now they’re having second thoughts?"

Skyler glared at Elder Adrianne and snapped angrily, "You better not push me, or I’ll kill you first!"

"Oh?" Elder Adrianne smirked and jumped up right away, shooting back coldly, "Go ahead and try!"

"Ha! The so-called top fighters of the Great Saint Sect bickering like kids in a hotel instead of attacking the Divine Alchemist Pavilion—this is the top sect in the North?"

Just then, a voice came from the entrance.

Looking over, they saw a young man walking in.

It was Walton Greer!

"What brings you here?" Elder Adrianne asked, clearly annoyed.

Walton answered casually, "To help you out, obviously."

"Help us?" Elder Adrianne scoffed.

"You? A half-step Martial Marquis who got wrecked by a Grandmaster Peak?"

A cold flash crossed Walton’s eyes but disappeared quickly.

He looked around at everyone and said coolly, "If you can’t beat her with force, why not use your brain instead?"

"Use our brain? How exactly?" Skyler frowned.

Walton turned his palm over, showing a small pill that appeared in his hand.

"This is a Spirit Severing Pill. Once she takes it, no matter how strong she is, she’ll become completely powerless," Walton said casually.

At this, everyone started laughing mockingly.

"The Lord of the Medicine God Pavilion? And you think you can drug her? Have you lost your mind?" Elder Adrianne sneered.

Walton glanced at him and said, "This pill disappeared from the world hundreds of years ago. I’m the only person on earth who has it."

"That Pavilion Master of theirs—what, has she been alive for hundreds of years?"

Hearing this, the group looked at each other uncertainly.

"Are you being straight with us?" Skyler asked doubtfully.

Walton snorted, "Believe it or don’t believe it, that’s your choice. If you mess this up, you can’t go home."

Skyler stayed quiet for a moment before clenching his teeth and saying, "Alright, we’ll try your way!"

"But how do we actually get her to take it?" Elder Adrianne asked.

Walton sneered, "And you call yourself an elder? Do I have to explain everything to you?"

"Here’s a tip: there are no permanent partnerships, only permanent benefits."

With that, Walton spun around and walked out.

——

Later that night.

The whole Divine Alchemist Pavilion was dead silent.

It was well after two in the morning when a man snuck out quietly. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

The man was the Chief Enforcement Elder!

After leaving the Divine Alchemist Pavilion, the elder quickly got into a car.

"Make sure the Pavilion Master swallows this." Skyler passed the Spirit Severing Pill to the elder.

The elder took the pill, his brow creasing. "What you promised me—is that really true?"

Skyler snorted, "What do you think? To be honest, besides us from the Great Saint Sect, plenty of powerful families in the Capital City want her dead too."

"Does it really matter who becomes Pavilion Master? As long as you pull this off, you’ll be the next Lord of the Medicine God Pavilion."

Everyone had their weak spots; while the elder didn’t care about money, he desperately wanted the Pavilion Master position.

Taking the pill, he gathered his courage and said, "Fine! I’ll do it!"

"You better make absolutely sure she actually swallows it," Skyler warned.

"Don’t worry; I’m the person she trusts most," the elder promised.

With that, he got out of the car with the pill in his hand.

His face showed a flash of doubt but he finally made up his mind.

The next morning.

The elder personally made a bowl of porridge, secretly stirring the Spirit Severing Pill into it.

The pill had no color or taste, completely disappearing the second it hit the bowl.

Carrying the porridge bowl, he headed to the upper floor of the pavilion.

The elder was the only person who could go up to this floor without asking permission first.

With a strong jump, he landed right in front of the Pavilion Master.

"Lord Pavilion Master, have some porridge," the elder said, setting the bowl down in front of her.

The Pavilion Master looked at him briefly, saying flatly, "Put it there."

The elder took a deep breath and smiled, "Lord Pavilion Master, I made this porridge myself using really nutritious herbs."

"You’ve been working so hard lately; drink it while it’s still warm."
