Chapter 46: Chapter 46 - Costly Rejection
Upon hearing Carter Hill’s words, Harvey Brown nodded enthusiastically in agreement.
Earlier, Harvey had attempted to form a partnership with Woods Walters to secure the agency rights for the Soul Nourishment Pill.
Much to his dismay, Woods not only rejected his proposal but had his security personnel forcibly remove Harvey from the premises.
Fuming with anger, Harvey reported this incident to Carter Hill, hoping he would intervene and settle the score with Woods.
"Absolutely! What right does Woods Walters have to control the Soul Nourishment Pill anyway?" Harvey continued to agree, his head bobbing vigorously.
Carter released a contemptuous snort and declared, "We’ll need to arrange a conversation with this Woods Walters soon."
Harvey’s eyes gleamed with calculation as he casually suggested, "Boss Hill, Woods values that pill more than his own life. I doubt he’ll willingly surrender it to you."
Carter shot him a sideways glance and sneered, "He faces just two choices: hand over the Soul Nourishment Pill or face death. Which do you think he’ll select?"
Harvey’s face lit up with malicious delight at these words. "Boss Hill, since I’ve provided this valuable information, might I request an agency right in return?" he asked, rubbing his hands together with an eager smile.
"Behave yourself, and that shouldn’t be a problem," Carter replied with indifference.
Despite the Hill family’s considerable influence and power, their primary base remained in Shiglance City.
Here in River City, they genuinely needed to nurture a few loyal supporters, and Harvey fit the bill perfectly.
"Thank you, Boss Hill!" Harvey exclaimed repeatedly, unable to contain his excitement.
After Harvey’s departure, Carter made a phone call to begin tracking down Woods Walters.
Meanwhile, I sat in the courtyard of my villa, enjoying the warm sunshine on my skin.
I was waiting patiently.
Waiting for the Soul Nourishment Pill to sweep through River City like wildfire.
"River City will soon undergo transformation," I remarked, a satisfied smile playing across my lips.
At the Williams family residence, Alec Williams had been busy securing the Sean family’s project with my assistance.
He’d spent recent days wining and dining government officials without pause.
Today followed the same pattern as Alec attended another lavish dinner gathering.
The dinner progressed with everyone becoming increasingly intoxicated as the evening wore on.
Suddenly, River City’s Mayor unexpectedly announced, "Have you all heard about the new pill circulating in River City called the Soul Nourishment Pill? Everyone’s desperate to get their hands on it."
Alec Williams laughed casually. "Mayor Nick, I’ve heard rumors about it. What exactly makes this Soul Nourishment Pill special?"
Mayor Nick immediately responded with enthusiasm, "This pill is truly miraculous! Just one dose revitalizes your entire body, and regular consumption can extend your lifespan!"
"Indeed, nearly every person of influence in River City carries one now," others chimed in agreement.
"It’s unfortunate there’s such limited supply. They’ve completely sold out already."
"That Woods Walters has transformed himself from a nobody into a respected businessman by leveraging the Soul Nourishment Pill. Countless companies are begging him for agency rights," someone commented.
Alec’s curiosity was visibly piqued.
If even the Mayor of River City praised the pill so highly, this was certainly no baseless rumor. The future wealth this product could generate seemed limitless.
Securing even a small stake in this venture could result in tremendous profits.
With this thought, Alec cautiously inquired, "Does anyone here possess a Soul Nourishment Pill? I’m prepared to pay handsomely for one!"
His question was met with eye rolls as someone responded, "Alec, not everything can be bought with money. People can’t even purchase one for one hundred sixty thousand dollars right now!"
"Exactly—if someone actually had one, why would they sell it to you?"
These comments only intensified Alec’s interest.
Had the Soul Nourishment Pill truly achieved such remarkable popularity?
Just then, Mayor Nick leaned forward conspiratorially. "Between us, I do have one remaining pill, but I’m saving it for personal use."
"Mayor Nick, I’ll give you two hundred sixty thousand for it!" someone jokingly called out.
Mayor Nick rolled his eyes dramatically. "Even five hundred thousand wouldn’t convince me to part with it!"
He paused before continuing with a sly smile, "However... I might allow everyone a quick look at it."
With that statement, Mayor Nick proudly produced the Soul Nourishment Pill. "Look all you want, but remember—sniffing only! Anyone who attempts to consume it will face serious consequences!"
"Don’t worry, Mayor Nick," everyone assured him simultaneously.
Alec quickly stood and approached to examine the pill closely.
When he clearly saw its appearance, his expression suddenly transformed with shock.
"Mayor Nick, please let me take a closer look!" Alec requested urgently.
Without waiting for permission, he grabbed the Soul Nourishment Pill from the Mayor’s hand.
Staring at the pill, Alec’s face darkened with realization.
This was identical to the pill I had shown him just days earlier. I had even offered him the agency rights, which he had promptly refused!
