Chapter 439: Chapter 439 A Strange Unreadable Meaning

I casually offered two wine glasses to my companions.

We three sampled the wine and began our conversation.

"So, roughly how long is this journey expected to last?" I asked in passing.

Zendaya Andrew chuckled, "Around half a month."

"Half a month?"

I found myself frowning.

Without thinking, I pulled out my phone to check today’s date.

June 21st.

September 9th was just two and a half months away.

Meaning once I disembarked from this cruise, only two months would remain.

"I really hope this journey pays off," I mused internally.

"I’ve heard rumors about Mr. Raymond’s dantian being badly damaged. Is that accurate?" Walton Greer inquired from beside me.

I narrowed my gaze and purposely replied, "Yes, my dantian suffered severe damage, which has drawn plenty of people wanting to kill me for fame."

Hearing my response, Walton Greer let out a sigh, "Such a tragedy, Mr. Raymond. Someone with your remarkable talent facing this kind of misfortune."

Based on Walton’s reaction, it appeared this guy had no plans to attack me.

"So what brings Brother He on this voyage?" I shifted topics and asked deliberately.

Walton Greer laughed softly, "Just wandering around the ship, hoping I might stumble upon some luck and discover a treasure."

"Ah, I figured Brother He wasn’t here for vacation," I said casually.

Walton Greer sighed, "Vacation? People like us don’t have time for such luxuries."

As we talked, a rough-looking man suddenly walked over from nearby.

The guy appeared massive, with a hefty build.

Plus, his aura radiated incredible power.

"Who’s that fellow?" I pointed toward the hefty man and asked.

Zendaya Andrew replied, "That’s the so-called Lord Summers, Joey Ebony."

"Lord Summers?" Confusion flickered through my eyes.

Zendaya Andrew clarified, "Right, supposedly he’s the top figure in the Summers region and reached Peak Form of Grandmaster Realm years ago."

Walton Greer added, "This guy’s quite odd. His family’s a martial aristocracy filled with gifted individuals, but over twenty years ago, Joey Ebony had terrible talent and was nearly cast out by his family."

"Terrible talent?" I frowned slightly, gesturing for Walton Greer to go on.

Walton Greer continued, "Exactly, apparently he encountered some incredible opportunity, and after that, Joey Ebony’s power skyrocketed, advancing at breakneck speed."

"Not just that, but the whole Ebony Family rose alongside him, producing multiple Grandmasters within just a few years."

"As for what that opportunity was, nobody knows." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Listening to Walton Greer’s explanation, I couldn’t help but rub my chin.

Multiple Grandmasters in mere years?

That was definitely suspicious.

In today’s world, becoming a Grandmaster requires extraordinary talent.

Multiple Grandmasters in such a brief period—what an enviable opportunity.

"Maybe Lord Summers possesses something like Enlightenment Tea?" I wondered silently, my eyes burning with eagerness.

If I could steal this opportunity... perhaps I could reach Marquis level within two months!

"Looks like I’ll need to visit the Summers region when I get the chance," I thought to myself.

"It’s quite interesting how all of us seem to share something similar." Zendaya Andrew suddenly remarked.

I glanced at Zendaya and asked offhandedly, "What do you mean by that?"

Zendaya Andrew looked at Walton Greer, "Even though Brother He has strong talent, you’re not considered the top in the He family, correct?"

Walton Greer nodded, "That’s right."

"I heard you were later chased and almost killed by a powerful enemy, suffering serious wounds. Since then, you’ve become the leading figure among the younger generation in the Central Plains region, right?" Zendaya Andrew went on.

Upon hearing this, discomfort briefly crossed Walton Greer’s expression.

He waved dismissively, "Ah, people claim you can only grasp dao techniques when facing death. I discovered this was accurate after going through it myself."

"Plus... I encountered an excellent Master who taught me his methods." Walton smiled.

Zendaya grinned, "That sounds like turning misfortune into fortune."

"Indeed," Walton agreed.

"Oh, my friend is over there. Let me go greet them." Walton got up and announced.

After dropping that line, he turned and walked away.

It was clear Walton wanted to avoid continuing this conversation.

Once he departed, I looked at Zendaya and questioned, "What were you getting at with those comments?"

Zendaya shrugged, "Nothing really. I just observed how fascinated you were by him."

I creased my brow, "You mentioned that only after he suffered severe injuries did he become number one in the Central Plains region?"

"Correct." Zendaya confirmed.

"Initially, even the Medicine God Pavilion’s pharmacist declared him dead, but surprisingly, he revived after several days."

"Really?" My interest intensified even more.

Zendaya went on, "Beyond that, when he awakened, his personality completely transformed. He shifted from being arrogant and overbearing to gentle and cultured."

"Now he’s even selected as the He family’s heir."

This series of details certainly provided me with substantial information.

Even the Medicine God Pavilion’s pharmacist declared him dead—how could he return to life?

And his personality transformed completely, leading to tremendous success?

"Could this be possession?" I suddenly considered a possibility.

Very probable!

If Walton was possessed by someone else, everything would make perfect sense.

"Has he ever mentioned what he’s seeking on Brightheart Island?" I inquired.

Zendaya shook her head, "He hasn’t said, just mentioned wanting to test his fortune."

"Testing his fortune... unlikely." I took a deep breath.

As we chatted, Walton returned from nearby.

He smiled, "Mr. Raymond, Miss Andrew, I just visited the auction thinking it would be routine, but I didn’t expect to gain something unexpected."

"Oh?" I raised my eyebrows.

Walton opened his hand, displaying a pearl resting peacefully in his palm.

This pearl looked no different from a regular Night-luminescent Pearl, but faint traces of incredibly dense qi emanated from it.

"This is... an inner core?" My pupils contracted abruptly.

Walton appeared somewhat surprised, "Mr. Raymond, you’re familiar with inner cores as well?"

"Yes, I consumed one. I owe Miss Andrew thanks for that," I glanced at Zendaya while speaking.

Hearing this, an odd expression appeared on Walton’s face.

"The inner core Miss Andrew consumed was a Spirit Core," Walton mentioned, seemingly casually.

"Spirit Core?" I was unfamiliar with this terminology.

Walton nodded, "An inner core can only boost cultivation, but a Spirit Core... contains Demonic Beast attributes, like the Spirit Fox inner core Miss Andrew consumed."

While saying this, Walton looked at me and asked, "The one you consumed, Mr. Raymond, wasn’t a Spirit Core, was it?"

"Correct," I didn’t hide anything.

Upon hearing this, Walton’s pupils constricted, and a strange, unreadable meaning flashed through his gaze.

The expression was peculiar—though it lasted only an instant, it didn’t escape my observation.
