Chapter 437: Chapter 437 A Lesson From The Master

Jerry Sean’s words didn’t catch me off guard.

I smiled and said, "No point being nice to someone that rude and unreasonable."

That’s what I said out loud, but my thoughts ran deeper.

Being an orphan meant I didn’t have many important people in my life, but Jerry Sean was definitely one of them.

The thought of Jerry Sean—who once ruled the world and stood at its peak—getting insulted by some thug made my blood boil.

"Mr. Sean," I said, turning to face him suddenly.

"Hmm?" Jerry Sean’s eyebrow went up slightly.

I grinned. "One day, you’ll go back to Capital City and take back your spot as the Sean Family Master."

Jerry Sean laughed hard at that. "I hope so."

But then his face got serious. "With what you’ve got right now, overthrowing those aristocratic families in Capital City is pretty much impossible."

"Overthrowing the noble families?" I let out a bitter laugh and shook my head.

"Yeah, impossible with what I have now. All I want is to get Mabel Sean out of Capital City on September 9th," I said, my voice turning serious.

Jerry Sean went quiet for a bit before speaking. "You know what’ll happen if you snatch away the main attraction right in front of the Johansson and Sean families?"

"Whatever happens, I’m going," I said coldly.

"You understand how much power the Sean and Johansson families have? You think you can just walk in and take Mabel right under everyone’s noses?" Jerry Sean said seriously.

My stare turned icy, my face getting colder.

"I made a deal with Vance Johansson. If I win, I get to take Mabel," I stated.

Jerry Sean waved his hand dismissively. "Mason Raymond, you’re still too green. If you actually beat Vance Johansson, that’s like slapping the Johansson family in the face—hell, all the aristocratic families!"

"They won’t let you win, no matter what it takes."

"If you really beat Vance Johansson, there’s only one outcome—they’ll all gang up and kill you."

My face went even colder.

Of course I’d thought about this.

But right now, did I have any other options?

"If that’s how it is, then I won’t hesitate to spill blood," I said coolly.

Such a reckless comment made Jerry Sean hold back a laugh.

Spill blood?

Did I really plan to fight two noble families all by myself?

"Mr. Sean, since I promised Mabel, I’ll definitely keep my word," I said.

Seeing this, Jerry Sean didn’t say anything more.

He stayed quiet for a moment, then laughed. "How about a chess game?"

I was caught off guard but soon started laughing too.

"Alright, let’s play chess."

In the huge living room, Jerry Sean and I started studying a chess game.

The game was full of surprises, with moves that were both shocking and unpredictable.

In just a few minutes, we seemed to be fighting our own personal war on the chessboard.

"I heard you told everyone your dantian is destroyed?" Jerry Sean asked me casually while carefully thinking about his next move.

"Yeah, that’s the only way some people will come try to kill me," I replied.

Jerry Sean moved his knight and said calmly, "Have you thought about one problem."

"What’s that?" I asked, looking up at Jerry Sean.

Jerry Sean explained, "If your dantian really is destroyed, what kind of people would they send to kill you?"

That stopped me cold.

He was right.

This whole time, it seemed like only a bunch of second-rate fighters had come after me.

I hadn’t even seen a Peak Form Grandmaster!

The strongest were just those three Sixth Rank Grandmasters!

"Your point makes sense," I had to admit.

Jerry Sean, playing with his chess piece, added casually, "Someone wants to kill you because your future is a potential threat. So they want to get rid of that threat."

"And if someone becomes a has-been, who’d bother with them?"

I pushed back firmly but quietly, "But plenty of people want to step on me to climb up and make their mark."

Jerry shook his head, dismissing the idea.

"Those who’ve reached Peak Form Grandmaster Realm—which one isn’t a prodigy? They either work for the great families, or they belong to one themselves."

"Why would someone like that need to step on you?"

Jerry paused there.

He made a killing move on the chessboard and continued, "Sure, some might, but not many."

I went quiet.

This was something I’d never really thought about.

On the Martial Arts Forum, tons of people claimed they wanted to eliminate me, but only those three actually showed up.

"And have you thought about Mabel?" Jerry added.

I looked up sharply, confusion in my eyes.

"The more noise you make out there, the safer Mabel will be," Jerry Sean explained casually.

My face instantly showed a mix of emotions.

These were all things I’d never considered before.

Jerry put down his chess pieces, stood up, and said, "Don’t sell yourself short. You spent your first thirty years as an ordinary person, cooking and cleaning. The progress you’ve made in such a short time is truly remarkable."

After saying this, Jerry muttered to himself, "I always get drowsy once night falls..."

That night, I sat in the living room, unable to sleep for hours.

I’d been so focused on pursuing cultivation that I’d become a martial arts fanatic.

But can martial arts fanatics bring down the great families?

In this day and age, that seemed impossible.

"Jerry was right," I took a deep breath.

"Maybe...I’ve been going about this all wrong."

If faking weakness doesn’t work, then I’ll raise hell!

What would happen if the great families got rattled?

Probably attract even more ambitious people.

——

The next day was when I was supposed to head to Brightheart Island.

Jerry Sean made a special effort to clean up and looked pretty energetic.

As usual, I kept a low profile, so unremarkable that no one would look twice.

For Jerry, this trip wasn’t really "travel" like he’d said, but more about building connections as fast as possible.

An opportunity like this couldn’t be missed.

We left the villa, and there on the open water sat a massive, incredibly luxurious cruise ship.

Jerry and I walked toward the ship, and as we did, I suddenly felt the atmosphere change.

One, two, three...five signals!

Five Grandmasters! And all of them radiating intense killing intent!

"Huh?" I tracked the scent of murderous spirit and looked in that direction.

Soon, I spotted a familiar face.

"Kamden Nick?" A chill crossed my lips.

"Mr. Raymond."

Just then, Zendaya’s voice rang out near my ear.

I turned around and saw Zendaya Andrew and a young man walking slowly toward me.

"Walton Greer from Central Plains?" Seeing this young man, something sparked in my eyes.
