Chapter 435: Chapter 435 An Invitation To The Source
Kamden Nick possessed sharp instincts. Despite Logan Sean’s casual delivery of the news, Kamden could tell this situation was far from ordinary.
The Great Saint Sect had deployed five Grandmasters solely to capture someone with no apparent special abilities!
This demonstrated just how seriously Logan Sean regarded this mission! And the target they sought must be anything but ordinary!
"Keep in mind, everything goes through me. Nobody takes this matter lightly," Kamden Nick commanded.
"Understood, Mr. Nick." Everyone quickly voiced their agreement.
——
After I ended the call, I got ready to head to Sea City.
I’d picked up plenty of stories about Sea City over the years.
People said it was an economically thriving region filled with well-dressed young professionals at every corner.
While it didn’t carry the same mystique as the Capital City, it stood as an international hub that drew countless foreign visitors.
Just as I was about to depart, Jasper Thompson’s vehicle rushed up to the entrance.
The moment the car stopped, Watson Thompson burst out in obvious distress, with Jasper Thompson trailing close behind.
The second Watson spotted me, she fired off urgent questions: "Are you okay? What’s your condition? I heard tons of people are after you - why haven’t you left yet?"
She bombarded me with so many questions at once that I struggled to know where to start.
"I spoke with my dad, and he thinks you should head to the Chuzzle Battle Zone. No matter how bold they are, they wouldn’t dare make a move inside the battle zone!" Watson declared with complete seriousness.
I let out a bitter laugh. "That’s not needed - I won’t run into any real danger."
"Mason Raymond, Watson’s got a solid point. Commander Wood specifically brought this up with me too," Jasper Thompson chimed in from the side.
I turned to face Jasper and responded courteously, "Mr. Thompson, there’s really no need - I can handle this myself."
While speaking, I picked up on an odd shift in Watson’s energy.
Her presence seemed touched by an incredibly ancient aura.
This type of energy clearly didn’t belong to our current time period.
Even though it was subtle, my sharp senses caught it immediately.
"Watson, did you put on that mask...?" I asked.
Watson gave a nod. "Yeah, I did, but each time I wear it, something feels off."
"Off?" I raised my eyebrows, waiting for her to elaborate.
Watson continued, "I can’t put that sensation into words - it’s just really strange. Never mind about me though, you need to figure out your next move."
Seeing I couldn’t brush off Watson’s concerns, I answered seriously, "Fine, if things actually get dangerous, I swear I’ll contact you right away and agree to seek shelter in the battle zone, deal?"
"Who can say when they’ll make their move," Watson grumbled.
I kept up my strained smile.
This kid was really difficult to deceive.
"Look, I’ve already worked out a plan, but I can’t share the details yet," I could only resort to lying.
Fortunately, Watson remained fairly trusting. She studied me with a skeptical expression and questioned, "You’re being honest?"
"Absolutely - why would I mess around when it comes to my own survival?" I responded.
"Alright then, but if things go south, I’ll get my dad to dispatch a squad for your protection," Watson whispered her suggestion.
I couldn’t suppress a wry smile. Watson certainly dreamed big.
"Okay, stop worrying about me. I’ve got business to handle - I need to take off for a bit." I waved dismissively.
"Mr. Thompson, I won’t be able to stick around."
Jasper Thompson nodded his understanding. "Right, just stay alert with everything you do."
Without additional conversation, I said my goodbyes to everyone and rushed off.
——
Sea City Airport.
I pulled out my phone and dialed Zendaya Andrew. "I’ve made it to Sea City."
Evening had settled in by then, and Zendaya’s voice came through the line: "I’m at the First Restaurant waiting for you."
Without wasting words, I immediately grabbed a taxi toward the First Restaurant.
Inside the restaurant.
Zendaya Andrew had chosen a relatively inconspicuous table, yet she still had quite a crowd gathered around her.
"Miss, might I have your contact information?"
"I’d love to buy you a drink - do you have some free time, Miss?"
One guy even cut straight to the chase: "I own ten properties and five high-end vehicles, plus eight-figure bank accounts - interested in talking?"
Zendaya clearly had plenty of experience dealing with these advances.
Still, she neither accepted nor turned them down, always keeping that friendly but distant attitude.
When Zendaya spotted me, she smiled and announced, "Sorry, my friend just arrived."
Everyone shifted their attention to me. Though their hearts held some resentment, they recognized when to step back.
After taking my seat, I commented teasingly, "Miss Andrew appears to relish all this admiration."
Zendaya gave a shrug. "Who wouldn’t want to be well-liked?"
I sat there with a mix of humor and sincerity. "Your future partner’s going to have his work cut out for him."
Right then, I suddenly realized Zendaya had somehow advanced into the Grandmaster Realm.
"Seems odd?" Before I could voice my question, Zendaya chuckled.
That’s when I recalled - Zendaya possessed the ability to read minds.
"Not particularly," I shook my head, then asked with genuine curiosity, "Miss Andrew, what brought you to Sea City all of a sudden?"
Zendaya made no attempt to conceal anything. She laughed, "There’s an elegant cruise departing for Brightheart Island from Sea City tomorrow. I couldn’t let this chance slip by."
"Brightheart Island? Going on holiday?" I inquired.
"That’s their purpose, but not mine," Zendaya answered casually.
I felt somewhat confused. "Could it be... there are valuable items on Brightheart Island?"
Zendaya gestured toward my dantian and smiled. "That inner core you absorbed came from Brightheart Island."
Hearing this revelation, I was clearly stunned.
That Demonic Beast Core had produced unbelievable results!
Even when measured against premium medicinal herbs, it held its own completely!
"What requirements exist for visiting Brightheart Island?" I asked with obvious interest.
"An invitation," Zendaya stated.
After her words, she revealed two invitations in her grasp.
I instinctively extended my hand toward the invitation, but Zendaya withdrew hers at that exact moment.
She appeared somewhat apologetic as she explained, "Mr. Raymond, I’m afraid this invitation has already been promised to someone else."
"Who received it?" I frowned slightly.
Zendaya nodded, "Walton Greer."
"Walton Greer? The Walton Greer from Central Plains?" A hint of irritation crossed my expression.
Walton Greer of Central Plains had maintained his position as the top name on Pyro’s martial arts talent rankings.
Even during my strongest period, I had consistently ranked below Walton on that list.
"I can tell that Miss Andrew hasn’t limited her partnerships to just me," I withdrew my hand, wearing a knowing smile.
