Chapter 427: Chapter 427 The Law of the Dragon
I watched Conrad Schroeder’s retreating form without saying a word.
Even though Conrad had been my follower for quite some time, I understood perfectly well that a certain gap had always existed between our hearts.
Seeing Conrad Schroeder make this decision today actually brought me some relief.
"Victor Green, prepare yourself; tonight you’re coming with me to Flood Dragon Village," I said.
Victor Green’s face went pale the moment he heard my words.
He hurried to my side, eyes bulging as he said, "Mr. Raymond, you can’t be serious, right? Heading to Flood Dragon Village right now is basically asking for trouble!"
I looked at Victor and let out a soft sigh, "I just need to figure out how much power I have left."
"In that case, why don’t I just fight you instead?" Victor muttered.
I waved my hand, "Stop talking. Just get ready to leave."
"Master Raymond, I want to come along too," Mya Winona stepped up and said.
I turned to Mya and said, "What’s the point of you going? Stay here and work on your alchemy."
"I have to come! If you get injured, I can treat you," Mya insisted stubbornly.
Seeing her determination, I couldn’t refuse anymore, so I gave in and nodded reluctantly.
That afternoon.
Victor Green drove Mya and me toward Flood Dragon Village.
Flood Dragon Village was a unique martial arts settlement established by the Martial Arts Association and held supreme significance in Chuzzle’s martial arts community.
The Chuzzle Martial Arts Association even deployed some of their top fighters there.
They not only supplied medicinal herbs to martial artists but also regularly organized tournaments in Flood Dragon Village to promote Chuzzle’s martial arts growth.
It was no overstatement to say that virtually everyone in Flood Dragon Village practiced martial arts.
Word had it that the most powerful among them had already reached the Grandmaster Realm.
The vehicle raced forward, and by the time I reached Flood Dragon Village, evening had already arrived.
"They really call it the Martial Arts Village for good reason—you can sense powerful energy waves the second you get out of the car," Victor inhaled deeply and remarked.
I stayed quiet. I checked my watch and said, "Flood Dragon Village has a road called Divine Dragon Street. Rare artifacts often surface on that road."
Victor’s face changed slightly when he heard this.
He whispered, "Mr. Raymond, I’ve been researching Flood Dragon Village recently and discovered some information about Divine Dragon Street."
"Really?" I raised an eyebrow and motioned for Victor to go on.
Victor continued, "Flood Dragon Village has established special regulations for Divine Dragon Street to encourage martial arts development."
"Supposedly, if you’re powerful enough, you can force sales, steal possessions, and even break into houses—as long as nobody gets killed, nobody intervenes."
Surprise flickered across my face.
This caught me off guard.
Typically, places like this had supervision to maintain order and prevent killing and robbery.
But Flood Dragon Village did the complete opposite; it was something I’d never encountered before.
"If that’s true, why would anyone with weak abilities dare to show up here?" I frowned.
Victor nodded, "Precisely. That’s why Flood Dragon Village has developed a unique business, like protection services. If you’ve got the cash, you can hire professionals to escort you through Divine Dragon Street."
I rubbed my chin and said, "Why don’t those hired professionals just go to Divine Dragon Street and steal the artifacts themselves? Wouldn’t that be more efficient?"
"Exactly." Victor nodded slightly.
"This kind of thing has occurred before. Whenever valuable treasure shows up, these so-called protectors instantly become murderous thieves."
"So, ultimately, it’s still better to rely on your own abilities."
I shared this viewpoint.
"Divine Dragon Street really is unusual.... Alright, let’s go to Divine Dragon Street," I gestured and said.
Victor’s face immediately showed frustration.
His whole point in explaining all this was to discourage me.
But instead, it had only sparked my curiosity.
"Damn it. Fine, we’ll go—but if things get too heated, I’m going on a killing spree!" Victor grumbled.
He saw that I wouldn’t be swayed, so he could only follow my lead.
The three of us got in the car, driving toward Divine Dragon Street.
Soon enough, our vehicle reached the vicinity of Divine Dragon Street.
The moment I stepped out of the car, I immediately detected several strong energy signatures.
Most were Grandmasters, with only a few Masters. As for true Grandmasters, I sensed just three of them.
"Mr. Raymond, are we actually going in there? How about... you wear this green cap?" Victor flipped his hand, producing a prepared magical artifact hat.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Why don’t you put it on yourself?"
After saying this, I walked straight toward Divine Dragon Street.
Although Divine Dragon Street was known as a treasure street, this was still Chuzzle, so resources were scarce. The treasures on Divine Dragon Street weren’t plentiful.
What you could see everywhere were herbs that were decades or even hundreds of years old.
For someone at my current level, they had no value.
Victor walked down the street looking obviously nervous, shaking with anxiety.
His eyes swept around constantly as if he feared someone would attack.
"Excuse me."
Just then, someone patted Victor on the shoulder.
Victor spun around suddenly and yelled, "What do you want?! I’m telling you—I’m not scared of you!"
The person stood there stunned, looking confused, and said, "I just wanted to ask if you’re interested in purchasing some herbs. I just gathered these fresh from the mountains. Why are you so jumpy?"
Victor wiped the sweat from his brow, looking sheepish as he said, "My apologies..."
"You’re sweating like crazy on your forehead—must be kidney problems. These herbs can nourish yin and strengthen yang. Want to buy some?" The person grinned widely.
"Your kidneys are the problem! Get out of here!" Victor snapped angrily.
I observed this scene, barely holding back my laughter.
Victor was obviously terrified, startling at every little thing.
As we moved deeper, the stares around us became increasingly menacing.
I could clearly sense the dozens of eyes watching me from the street’s edges.
"Mr. Raymond, I’m suddenly feeling really chilly..." Victor whispered while clutching my arm.
I, however, seemed relaxed and untroubled, walking as if I were taking a leisurely stroll in my own garden.
"Look, isn’t that Mason Raymond?" someone murmured from the darkness.
"I believe it actually is him! And that skinny guy beside him—he’s supposedly one of Mason’s subordinates."
"Yeah, I wasn’t certain without seeing that pale-haired rat, but now I’m positive; that’s definitely Mason Raymond!"
Victor’s face turned red with rage.
"Mr. Raymond, do I look sleazy?" Victor mumbled.
Before I could answer, Mya nodded seriously, saying, "You do look quite sleazy."
The whispered conversations around us grew louder, like a rising tide, threatening to engulf me completely.
But I remained unaffected, casually wandering down Divine Dragon Street.
*Why are they all staring at me like this?* My mouth tightened slightly before I coughed violently, spitting up blood.
This caused a noticeable reaction. Crowds gathered, watching from the sidelines. *So they believe I’m weakened.*
