Chapter 417: Chapter 417 A Wolf At The Door
Nobody saw it coming that this show-off "Brody Oliver" wasn’t Paul Randall’s student at all.
The guy just borrowed Paul Randall’s name, wrapping himself in a fake reputation like wearing a tiger’s skin.
Still, you had to hand it to Victor Green for his nerve.
Over the next few days, I stayed put in Hanah.
I hung around there, waiting for whoever planned to take me out.
Two nights passed.
——
Randal Tristan and his crew met up again.
They’d worked out a detailed, careful plan, even breaking down Mason Raymond’s strengths completely.
"Mason Raymond’s power comes from his physical strength. Take away his body, and he’s nothing special," Randal Tristan declared.
Swanson Baton laughed. "Physical strength? I don’t buy that he’s stronger than me."
"Mr. Baton, we get that you’re a Cross-training Grandmaster with unbeatable physical power, but this is serious business. We need to be careful, not reckless," someone warned.
Swanson Baton gave a cold snort. He agreed out loud, but inside he wasn’t buying it.
Always proud of his physical power, how could Swanson Baton pass up a chance like this?
If he beat Mason Raymond using pure strength, his reputation would definitely eclipse Mason Raymond’s!
"Limiting physical strength won’t be simple, but I can create a killing formation. Once I’m locked in, I can release the purest, deadliest force against him!" Formation Master Kamden Nick announced.
Everyone pitched in their thoughts.
Soon, all eyes turned to Victor Green.
"Mr. Green, got any strategies?" Randal Tristan asked.
Victor Green shot him a glare and smacked Randal Tristan across the face!
"What strategies I have - do I need to report that to you?!" Victor Green snapped angrily.
Randal Tristan’s face went dark with rage, fury boiling inside him, even murderous thoughts stirring!
He was a Grandmaster who’d built his name years back, but now this kid was slapping him in front of everyone. How could he stand for it!
Sensing the killing intent from Randal Tristan, Victor Green’s expression shifted, worry creeping in.
"Mr. Tristan, let it go. He’s Paul Randall’s student after all," someone stepped in.
Randal Tristan got to his feet slowly, saying icily, "So what if he’s Paul Randall’s student? Paul Randall and I are equals. How can I take this kind of insult!"
"After I kill him, I’ll go apologize to Paul Randall!" Randal Tristan said coldly.
Victor Green’s face went pale!
This old bastard actually wanted him dead!
"Mr. Tristan, forget it. If you really want to kill him, let’s handle Mason Raymond first," someone tried again.
Randal Tristan clenched his teeth, pointed at Victor Green, and said, "You better have real ability. Otherwise, I guarantee you’ll die ugly!"
Brody Oliver was stuck, but he knew showing weakness now would definitely raise suspicions.
So he stubbornly snorted and shot back, "So what if you’re my master’s equal? Hasn’t he been keeping you down this whole time?"
"Alright, everyone calm down," someone waved their hand.
"Let’s talk about when and where."
Kamden Nick stood up and said quietly, "Let’s do it at the riverside. The riverside doesn’t have many people around - perfect for killing. Plus, I’ve already checked out the area and set up a killing formation there."
Everyone nodded. "Good, let’s go with Mr. Nick’s idea and head to Riverside."
"But... how do we get Mason Raymond there?" someone wondered.
"I’ll go!" Victor Green jumped at the chance.
"I’ll find Mason Raymond and make sure I bring him there!"
Randal Tristan looked at Victor Green and said, "You’re going? Ha, why would Mason Raymond trust you?"
Victor Green opened his mouth defiantly. "Just because I’m Paul Randall’s student. I don’t believe he won’t show me respect!"
"Ha, Mason Raymond has always been rude and doesn’t care about connections. Doesn’t matter if you’re Paul Randall’s student - even if you were the King of Heaven, he might not give you face," someone said.
"I’ll go."
Right then, a young man stood up.
Seeing this young man, Victor Green’s face changed a bit.
It was none other than Lainey Kessler, the so-called genius of the River North Region!
What worried Victor Green most was that Lainey had a tight relationship with Zendaya Andrew, and there was a real chance his secret would come out!
"Who are you?" Randal Tristan asked, eyes narrowed.
A cold flash crossed Lainey’s face.
"I’m Glenn Kessler’s son, Lainey. Mason Raymond killed my father!" Lainey said through gritted teeth.
"Right now I don’t have the strength to face Mason Raymond, so I can only count on everyone here!"
"And I’ve known Mason for a long time, so I’m sure I can trick him."
Everyone looked at each other, then at Randal Tristan.
After thinking for a moment, Tristan nodded. "Your father’s murder does give us a good opening, and you’re the best choice to go."
Lainey nodded, saying coldly, "Don’t worry, I’ll definitely bring Mason Raymond to Riverside tomorrow!"
After saying this, Lainey turned and walked out.
Victor Green’s face darkened - he hadn’t expected Lainey to show up.
"I need to find a way to warn Mr. Raymond fast," Victor Green thought.
"To avoid problems, nobody leaves from now on." But Randal Tristan’s words crushed Victor Green’s plan completely.
"Everyone, hand over your phones," Tristan continued, standing up.
One by one, everyone turned in their phones.
Victor Green couldn’t find an excuse to refuse, so he had to follow Tristan’s order and hand over his phone too.
"I have to think of something," Victor Green felt anxious and helpless.
——
The next morning, as the sun slowly climbed up, it painted the long, wide river with golden light.
Under this peaceful-looking scene, danger was building.
Right then, I stood by the window, quietly watching the skyline.
"Could it be... nobody’s brave enough to come?" I frowned.
My reputation in the martial arts world was definitely solid.
Killing over a dozen Peak Form Grandmasters single-handedly - that record had scared off plenty of people.
Eyes narrowed, I suddenly got an idea.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
"Finally, someone’s here." Hearing the knock, I felt relieved.
When I opened the door, I saw Lainey Kessler standing outside.
Right now, Lainey’s face didn’t show sadness anymore, but some kind of unexplainable nervousness.
"Lainey?" I raised my eyebrows.
I never thought the person coming to find me would be Lainey.
Lainey nodded. "Mr. Raymond, it’s nice that you still remember me."
I squinted and said coldly, "What brings you here?"
Lainey said awkwardly, "After my father died, the Kessler family fell apart, and old enemies started coming after me one by one."
"With just my own strength, I couldn’t fight them, so I had no choice but to run to Hanah."
"Oh?" I raised my eyebrows, eyes full of doubt.
Lainey sighed. "Mr. Raymond, I came here this time to... settle our past grudges."
"Settle past grudges?" The sneer on my face got thicker.
"I killed your father, and you want to make peace with me?" I kept sneering.
