Chapter 351: Chapter 351 - Island Confrontation
Klein Johansson nodded his agreement, then fixed Vance Johansson with an icy stare and declared, "Follow me. We need to see your Uncle Sean."
"Understood," Vance bobbed his head eagerly.
Both men descended the stairs.
When Klein came face-to-face with Logan Sean, his demeanor shifted completely.
He approached Logan, extending his hand for a handshake and cordial greeting.
Vance quickly called out, "Great to see you once more, Uncle Sean!"
Logan gave a slight acknowledgment, then shifted his attention to Klein.
"Old Sean, you’re already aware of yesterday’s events, correct?" Klein got straight to business.
Logan struck a match for his cigar and scoffed, "With all that commotion, how could anyone miss it?"
Klein’s forehead creased, "Everyone understands our Johansson family plans to unite with the Sean family through marriage. Yet now, Mabel publicly embarrassed us by claiming Mason as her boyfriend. Isn’t this a direct insult to the Johansson family?"
Logan cast a look at Klein and smirked, "Mabel’s just a kid. What authority does she have?"
"Old Sean, I believe you’re mistaken. From what I understand, Jerry Sean has always treasured her deeply. Mabel’s influence within the Sean family matches yours, doesn’t it?" Klein spoke directly, showing no diplomacy.
Logan’s expression soured immediately.
He grunted, "My father has always favored her, though I can’t fathom why."
"When it comes to capability, I surpass her, and regarding hierarchy, I’m his firstborn son!"
"Her considerable influence exists solely because of my father’s support!"
Logan’s anger intensified as he continued, his complexion reddening, appearing ready to pound the table.
Klein raised his hand and interjected, "Fine, Old Sean, let’s focus on resolving this situation first."
"I propose you conduct an interview, stating the Sean family has never accepted Mason Raymond as their son-in-law."
Logan studied Klein and replied icily, "Why the urgency? My father’s still in charge, isn’t he?"
Klein’s brow tightened. Clearly, Logan remained intimidated by Jerry Sean.
"Don’t fret, my father will throw a party soon. At that time, I’ll naturally create an opportunity to set things straight," Logan indicated.
"Throw a party? This is news to me," Klein frowned.
"You’ll learn about it shortly," Logan rose and said.
"My father’s time is running out. Once he passes, I’ll eliminate Mason Raymond without delay," Logan regarded Klein, offering the Johansson family some reassurance.
"That puts my mind at ease," Klein acknowledged with satisfaction.
——
Right now, I found myself engaged in a chess match with Jerry Sean.
Though I appeared somewhat unfocused.
I occasionally glanced up at Jerry, concern spreading across my features.
"Something bothering you today?" Jerry looked at me and inquired.
I drew a deep breath and said, "Jerry, would you let me examine your condition?"
"Examine my condition?" Jerry appeared confused.
I said, "I’m not sure how to put this, but I must be honest with you."
"I can detect the death energy concentrated between your eyebrows, and it’s intensifying."
Jerry laughed, "So what?"
I remained quiet for a moment, then said, "Based on the death energy on your forehead, you don’t appear destined for a natural death."
During recent days, I had observed this problem. Typically, natural death would cause death energy to gather at the life palace.
But the death energy on Jerry’s forehead was ascending.
This definitely wasn’t indicative of natural death.
Therefore, I couldn’t help but wonder if Jerry had developed some disease.
Concerning my observations, Jerry appeared untroubled.
He set down his chess piece and stated matter-of-factly, "Death has many causes. Sometimes, even when it’s not one’s natural time, it remains destiny."
"My destiny indicates I’ll die this year, and I will certainly die. Are you attempting to defy heaven?"
I grew somewhat emotional, "Cultivation is entirely about defying heaven! Jerry, as long as your lifespan isn’t depleted, I can heal you!"
Jerry gestured dismissively and said, "It’s not the same. If you forcibly alter destiny’s path, it will surely impact you."
"I’m merely an elderly man, and I’ve existed long enough."
I didn’t want to hear such words. With a trace of desperation, I said, "Mr. Jerry Sean, just allow me to check you, okay?"
"When I say no, it means no!" Jerry Sean replied, showing irritation.
"No further discussion about this!"
After stating this, Jerry Sean departed with a stern expression.
I felt extremely baffled by Jerry Sean’s response.
I couldn’t comprehend why Jerry Sean showed such resistance.
"I won’t allow you to die." Observing Jerry Sean’s departing form, I made my resolution.
——
Over the following days, I engaged in daily chess games with Jerry Sean.
I avoided mentioning the subject again, but the death aura between Jerry Sean’s eyebrows intensified.
At this pace, Jerry Sean likely wouldn’t survive beyond three days.
His condition declined swiftly, and without the medicinal herbs supporting him, Jerry Sean might have already been confined to bed.
This particular morning,
Mabel Sean prepared herself meticulously and even prepared breakfast with her own hands.
When Jerry Sean and I awakened, Mabel Sean beamed, "Quick, let’s eat, then we’ll head out together."
Jerry Sean expressed surprise, "Head out? Where are we going?"
"Oh, grandfather, you can’t remain home constantly. Let’s take a trip to North Province Island for a change of pace. It’ll benefit your health," Mabel Sean chuckled.
Jerry Sean shook his head repeatedly, "That’s unnecessary. I enjoy playing chess at home."
"Absolutely not!" Mabel Sean protested.
"Regardless, I cleared my schedule today, and we’re going!" Mabel Sean declared firmly.
Having no alternative, Jerry Sean conceded, "Fine, fine, I’ll do as you wish."
After eating quickly, a Mercedes-Benz S450 waited outside.
"Grandpa, get in." Mabel Sean rushed over and opened Jerry Sean’s door.
Once both were seated, Mabel Sean took control of the wheel and drove toward North Province Island.
North Province Island was a renowned tourist destination in Capital City.
To reach it from Capital City required taking a ferry across the water.
Furthermore, North Province Island’s proprietor was a notable personality in Capital City.
We three arrived at the ferry dock, parked our vehicle, and joined the line to purchase tickets.
The ticket queue stretched long, and the area bustled with tourists.
Mabel Sean spent nearly an hour reaching the front, and just as her turn arrived, two young men suddenly pushed ahead of her.
Mabel Sean’s expression darkened. She tapped the young man’s shoulder and asked, "Don’t you understand queuing?"
The young man turned toward Mabel Sean and became instantly mesmerized.
This woman is absolutely stunning!
The young man couldn’t help but gulp, his eyes nearly bulging from their sockets.
"Didn’t you hear her tell you to wait in line?" I disliked the look in the young man’s eyes and spoke coldly.
Only then did the young man snap back to reality. He glared at me and declared, "I never queue for tickets! Stop your nonsense!"
Then he yelled at the ticket booth, "I’ll purchase every ticket you have!"
Upon hearing this, my expression hardened.
"If you purchase all the tickets, what happens to everyone else?" I asked, restraining my anger.
The young man sneered, "How is that my concern? I want tickets, and it’s none of your business!"
I stared coldly at the young man, "You’d better return those tickets immediately."
"Oh, are you trying to intimidate me? Do you realize who I am?" The young man laughed mockingly.
Just as I was about to respond, Jerry Sean stepped forward and stated calmly, "Young man, don’t be too presumptuous; you might encounter trouble."
The young man glanced at Jerry Sean, irritated, "Who are you, old man? What business is it of yours? Did I request your input?"
