Chapter 35: Chapter 35 - Social Execution
Theo Williams parted his lips, then gave a bitter smile. "That’s true. With Miss Sean backing you, you don’t need to fear Xavier Hill."
I sighed quietly at Theo’s comment.
Clearly, everyone viewed me as nothing but a freeloader using the Sean family to build my fortune. Changing that perception wouldn’t happen overnight.
After chatting briefly, I found Theo wasn’t a bad guy. He seemed knowledgeable and idealistic, quite unlike the typical entitled rich kid I’d expected.
"Mr. Raymond!"
I turned, surprised to see Woods Walters had also arrived at the party. He hurried over to me, eyes bright with excitement.
"I didn’t expect you to be here too!" he exclaimed.
Woods’s appearance genuinely caught me off guard. Given his social standing, he shouldn’t have been invited to an event like this.
The three of us sat in our corner, creating a pocket of calm amid the noisy chaos. All around us, the party continued in full swing, guests indulging their every whim in the raucous atmosphere.
Soon, I spotted Xavier Hill walking directly toward our group. Beside him strutted a young man with stark white hair.
"Mr. Raymond, Xavier Hill is coming," Woods whispered urgently.
I kept my expression neutral, remaining silent as if I hadn’t noticed their approach.
Within moments, Xavier stood before me, his lips curling into a smirk. "Mason, did you invite yourself, or is your face just that thick?"
I glanced up at him and laughed softly. "Mr. Hill, sorry to disappoint, but I’m here representing Miss Sean."
Xavier’s face instantly darkened at my words, ugly rage distorting his features. Beside him, the white-haired young man bristled with barely contained violence.
I frowned, meeting the white-haired man’s cold gaze directly. Our eyes locked, both radiating hostility.
"Oh, this kid looks familiar," Xavier suddenly remarked, noticing Theo seated beside me. He studied him for a moment before slapping his forehead. "Now I remember, you’re Theo Williams, right?"
Though clearly uncomfortable, Theo gritted his teeth and offered a tense greeting. "Nice to see you, Mr. Hill."
Xavier’s face twisted with contempt. "I remember your Williams Family wanted to cooperate with us, right?"
Theo remained awkwardly silent.
"How about this?" Xavier sneered. "Today, I’ll give you a chance. Just slap Mason twice, and I’ll consider partnering with your family. What do you say?"
Theo’s expression shifted noticeably. Xavier was obviously toying with him for sport.
"You’ve been begging to work with us, haven’t you?" Xavier continued with a cruel grin. "Now I’m giving you a chance, and you don’t cherish it?"
Theo fought to maintain his composure. "Sorry, our Williams Family doesn’t lack partners currently."
Xavier’s face hardened instantly.
"You refuse the opportunity when it’s handed to you," he said coldly. "You don’t lack partners? I’ll make your Williams Family bankrupt by tomorrow. Want to test me?"
Poor Theo had stumbled into this mess through no fault of his own. But he had sealed his fate the moment he chose to sit beside me.
"Don’t blame me," Xavier added with a twisted smile. "Blame Mason Raymond if you must."
"Fool," I muttered under my breath.
"Who are you cursing? Are you asking for death?" The white-haired young man stepped forward, voice icy with threat.
I took a casual sip of water. "The master hasn’t spoken yet, but the dog starts barking."
"You!" The white-haired man nearly exploded with rage, moving to attack.
Xavier held him back with one arm, then turned to me with a vicious smirk. "Mason, I heard your wife cheated on you for three years, and you were clueless the entire time. Is that true?"
Perfect timing—the music had just stopped, allowing Xavier’s words to reach nearly every ear in the room.
His timing was deliberate, calculated for maximum humiliation.
I gave him a cold stare but remained silent.
"No answer?" Xavier snorted.
With a flick of his wrist, several of his people escorted Lyla Lucas and Harvey Brown into our circle.
"If you won’t speak, others will do it for you," Xavier sneered.
He turned to Lyla with a smirk. "I’ve always wondered, did you really cheat on Mason for three years? How did you manage it?"
Clearly, Xavier had arranged this with Lyla beforehand. She answered without a shred of shame, "Well, from our wedding night onward, Mason’s been wearing a ’green hat’."
The entire room erupted with laughter. Every eye turned to me like I was some circus attraction.
I kept my expression cold, refusing to react.
"I’m curious—he never figured it out?" Xavier pressed.
Lyla smirked confidently. "Mason has no dignity in our family. If I told him to squat, he wouldn’t dare stand up!"
"So even when I didn’t come home at night, he never dared question me."
"Besides," she added with cruel satisfaction, "even if he knew, what could he possibly do? Better to pretend ignorance."
