Chapter 336: Chapter 336 - Detained

Sensing the qi flowing through this storage chamber, I couldn’t help but feel fascinated.

Peering deeper inside, I saw hundreds of years’ worth of medicinal plants thriving abundantly throughout this storage chamber.

I gulped down hard, even entertaining the idea of taking everything here.

Naturally, I could only dream about it.

Such pillaging didn’t match my character.

I gathered a hundred plants that had been maturing for several decades and headed back out of the storage chamber.

"You can verify them—there are exactly one hundred." I set the plants before the two alchemists.

The two alchemists quickly nodded, saying, "Mr. Raymond, you need to record this."

"Sure." I nodded in agreement.

I jotted down my name and the plant count on the document, then stored all the plants in my Spatial Magic Artifact.

Once I got back to my quarters, I eagerly pulled out these plants.

Staring at the plants spread across the floor, I felt like some kind of rich mogul.

"Come to think of it, I believe my account is running low." I suddenly realized an issue.

Recently, I’d been spending quite a lot of money acquiring plants.

The two billion in my bank account was almost gone.

So I grabbed my phone and dialed Woods Walters.

When the call went through, I asked, "How much cash is still in my account?"

Woods Walters on the other side quickly said, "Hold on, let me look that up for you."

Several minutes later, Woods Walters called back, sounding somewhat awkward, "Mr. Raymond, all the funds in the account went toward company expansion, so..."

"So what’s the remaining balance?" I asked.

Woods Walters said seriously, "Under 300 million."

"300 million..."

This figure was way lower than I’d expected.

While I didn’t obsess over money, in this world, surviving without money was tough.

Plus, money remained a solid currency. If I stumbled upon some premium plant someday, I might need to shell out enormous sums.

"Got it." I ended the call.

I rubbed my chin and mumbled, "Seems like I need to figure out how to earn money..."

As my voice faded, the door suddenly burst open.

Right after that, Third Elder stormed in furiously.

Beside him stood two other distinguished-looking old men.

"Law Enforcement Elders, there he is!" Third Elder pointed at me and declared.

"He not only forced his way into the storage chamber but also took the plants! Please punish him harshly, Law Enforcement Elders!"

The two Law Enforcement Elders facing me stared coldly and said, "Who gave you permission to force your way into the storage chamber?"

I got up and said respectfully, "Greetings to both Law Enforcement Elders."

Then I told the Law Enforcement Elders the complete story.

"If Third Elder hadn’t forcibly kept the plants from me, I wouldn’t have dared step foot in the storage chamber." I bowed as I spoke.

"Don’t try to pin your crimes on me!" Third Elder said with a sarcastic tone.

"It’s obvious you were lusting after the plants and broke into the storage chamber."

I couldn’t be bothered with Third Elder. I bowed and said, "Both Law Enforcement Elders, I only took one hundred plants with several decades of potency for training. This shouldn’t break any regulations, right?"

Law Enforcement Elder said coldly, "No matter the cause, you shouldn’t have forced entry into the storage chamber."

"Right, right, right, he also attacked Travis Johansson, who came for the Pill!" Third Elder shouted.

Law Enforcement Elder stared at me coldly and said, "Come along with us."

I frowned. These two Law Enforcement Elders had Peak Form Grandmaster Realm strength. Against them, I had virtually no shot at victory.

"Please show mercy, Law Enforcement Elders!"

Right then, Fifth Elder rushed in.

Victor Green and Mya Winona were with him.

Fifth Elder hurried forward and explained, "Please forgive him, Law Enforcement Elders. All this resulted from Third Elder’s scheme, and Mason Raymond bears little responsibility."

"You’re spouting nonsense!" Third Elder yelled angrily.

Fifth Elder snorted coldly, "Whether you’re involved or not, you know the truth."

"How am I involved? Let me tell you..."

"Stop!" The Law Enforcement Elder cut off their argument.

He glanced at me and said, "Whatever the cause, you lack authorization to enter the storage chamber. Per the regulations, we must discipline you. Come with us."

Fifth Elder wanted to speak, but I raised my hand to stop him.

I stood and said, "Alright, I’ll come with you."

After that, the two Law Enforcement Elders led me away from the mansion.

——

"Fifth Elder, what do we do now? Mr. Raymond won’t get in serious trouble, will he?" Victor Green asked worriedly.

Fifth Elder waved his hand and said, "The Pavilion Master returns tomorrow. We’ll let her make the call."

"Hehe, when the Pavilion Master gets back, she’ll definitely not spare this cocky brat!" Third Elder said with a mocking tone.

Fifth Elder looked coldly at Third Elder and said, "You’ll answer for your actions."

"Hahaha, I’d love to see how you’ll make me answer!" Third Elder snorted and walked away, sleeves billowing.

——

The Law Enforcement Elders brought me to a dim chamber.

Though the room looked somewhat run-down, what shocked me was that a formation had been set up here as well!

Within this formation, my power was severely weakened, making escape impossible.

"Stay here for now. The situation is complex, so we’ll wait for the Pavilion Master’s return before deciding." One Law Enforcement Elder said.

"Mason, we’ve also heard about your actions and believe you were set up. But we must follow protocol." The other Law Enforcement Elder said.

Clearly, they also had issues with Third Elder.

I nodded and said, "Understood, thank you, Elders."

The two elders said nothing more and departed.

For me, this so-called jail didn’t bother me much; I could rest anywhere.

Besides, the harsher the conditions, the more they could strengthen someone’s resolve.

I sat cross-legged on the floor, eyes slightly shut.

My mindset slowly settled, as if I existed in my own realm.

——

The following day marked the Medicine God Pavilion Lord’s return.

Early that morning, the two Law Enforcement Elders entered.

"Mason, you can leave now, but don’t roam around. When the Pavilion Master gets back, she’ll certainly call for you." Law Enforcement Elder said.

I clasped my hands gratefully and said, "Thank you, both elders."

Then I turned and walked out of the jail cell.

At midday, every alchemist of the Divine Alchemist Pavilion, major and minor, assembled in the courtyard.

The eight elders, with First Elder leading them, silently awaited the Pavilion Master’s return.

"Kid, wait till the Pavilion Master gets back and see how you’ll deal with this!" Third Elder sneered at me.
