Chapter 321: Chapter 321 - Blocked Path
The most important thing was that Logan Sean was friendly with the Johansson family. This was absolutely not good news for me.
When I glanced at Logan Sean, Logan also looked back at me.
"Who is this guy?" Logan pointed at me and asked.
Jerry Sean waved his hand and said, "This is Mason Raymond."
"Mason Raymond?" Upon hearing my name, Logan Sean’s mouth curled up in a barely visible sneer.
"Alright, let’s sit down and eat," Jerry Sean said without expression.
"Yes, sir." Logan Sean bowed slightly to Jerry Sean. Then, the servants changed his clothes, and he sat down beside Jerry Sean.
During this time, Logan didn’t say a word to me nor did he spare me even a glance.
But for some reason, when facing Logan Sean, I always felt uneasy.
No matter how calm Logan Sean appeared, I could still sense his hostility toward me.
Soon after, the rest of the Sean family came home.
In total, the Sean family had four sons, led by Logan Sean, followed by Mabel Sean’s father Soren Sean, Ivan Sean, and Clarence Sean.
Upon seeing my arrival, Soren Sean seemed somewhat surprised.
"Mason, how come you’re here?" Soren Sean said, startled.
I stood up and said, "Uncle Sean, I just happened to be in Capital City on business, so I decided to drop by and see Mabel."
"Mabel? Tsk Tsk, what an intimate nickname," Ivan Sean said with a mocking smile.
Clarence Sean also glanced at me and said, "Now, anyone can enter our Sean family? What’s next, a crow wanting to perch on the branches and become a phoenix?"
Facing everyone’s mockery, I didn’t know how to respond.
After all, they were Mabel Sean’s elders, so I couldn’t possibly reply with any sarcasm.
"Mabel, this is the first time you’ve brought a man home, right?" Ivan Sean asked.
Mabel Sean didn’t dodge the question, nodding and saying, "First one, and the only one."
At these words, there was a hint of displeasure from the people at the table.
"Humph, with so many well-dressed young men in Capital City, you choose a country bumpkin who crawled out of nowhere!" Ivan Sean scolded.
"Do you want our Sean family to lose face?"
Mabel Sean stayed calm and said coolly, "I don’t think Mason will make the Sean family lose face. Besides, I think he’s many times better than those so-called noble young men in Capital City."
"Ha, ha, it’s not that easy to enter our Sean family’s door!" Ivan Sean said coldly.
"Silence, all of you!" At this point, Jerry Sean suddenly shouted.
"If you don’t want to eat, put down your chopsticks and get the hell out!"
Jerry Sean’s words still carried great authority. As soon as he spoke, the table became quiet.
No one else dared to say another word.
I couldn’t help but think to myself that the situation in the Sean family was more complicated than I had imagined.
In just a few words, it was clear that Duane Sean’s status in the family was not high, and nothing compared to Logan Sean.
And the other two brothers seemed willing to side with Logan Sean.
"It seems that Roberts Joshua was right," I thought to myself.
"I’m full." In a short while, Logan Sean put down his chopsticks.
He straightened his clothes and got up to leave.
"Ah, I’m full too, I just can’t eat anymore." Following Logan Sean, Ivan Sean got up.
"Clarence, are you still eating?" Then, Ivan Sean asked casually.
Clarence Sean shook his head and said, "I have some things to handle, so I’m not going to eat."
"Eat if you want, or don’t eat if you don’t want to. We will eat," Jerry Sean snorted coldly.
Except for Soren Sean, the brothers of the Sean family all stood up and left, heading straight out of the house.
At this moment, I realized that the brothers didn’t live here but had their own places.
However, they had to come to the Sean family’s Estate for dinner every day, as per the rules set by Jerry Sean.
After they left, Jerry Sean laughed and said, "Don’t mind them, Mason, continue eating."
I nodded and said, "Thank you, Mr. Sean."
Despite his words, I felt a bit of pressure deep in my heart.
Seeing the state of the Sean family members toward me, I knew how difficult it would be to marry Mabel.
Seeing me looking upset, Mabel whispered, "Don’t worry about them. After all, it’s me who’s marrying you, not them."
At Mabel’s words, my face relaxed a lot.
I looked at Mabel and whispered, "I won’t let you sacrifice your family ties for me."
I believed that the Sean family would accept me someday.
After dinner, Jerry Sean waved his hand and said, "Mason, come on, accompany me for another couple of rounds of chess."
"Alright!" I stood up and followed Jerry Sean to the second floor.
The two of us played from dawn until dusk approached.
I glanced out the window and said, "Mr. Sean, it’s getting late, I should head back."
Jerry Sean smiled and said, "Would you like to stay the night?"
I hurriedly waved my hand and said, "No, I’ll consider it another time."
"Alright," Jerry Sean didn’t insist.
"Mabel, accompany Mason on his way out," Jerry Sean instructed.
Mabel and I walked out of the Sean family’s villa.
Walking along the quiet path of the Sean family’s Estate, my mind was filled with thoughts.
"What are you thinking about?" Mabel blinked and asked.
I smiled and shook my head, saying, "Nothing."
"Don’t think too much; just be yourself." Mabel tiptoed and tapped me lightly on the head.
Soon enough, we reached the entrance of the Sean family’s Estate.
Mabel stopped and held the corner of her dress, whispering, "I’ll send you off here."
I turned to look at Mabel and reluctantly said, "I really wish I could be with you all the time."
"Me too." Mabel’s eyes sparkled.
Under the night sky, we spoke of the innocence that didn’t belong to our age.
Time, as if for us, stood still at this moment.
After a while, I finally let go of Mabel’s hand.
"I’ll wait for you." As we gazed into each other’s eyes, Mabel whispered.
"Thank you for believing in me," I said sincerely.
No matter how difficult it was, as long as I faced Mabel, I felt that all the difficulties were insignificant.
Now that it was late, I didn’t linger and turned to leave.
Upon walking several hundred meters, I finally reached the main road outside the manor.
At this point, I noticed a Land Rover Range Rover parked not too far away.
Although the car looked ordinary, I still felt an indescribable sense of oppression.
Sure enough.
As I approached the car, its lights turned on.
Then, two men got out of the car and blocked my path.
