Chapter 318: Chapter 318 - Trump Card Revealed
Without saying anything more, one of the bodyguards turned around and walked into the Sean family’s estate.
——
Inside the villa, Mabel Sean was sitting by the window, flipping through a document in her hands.
Mabel had always been attentive to the company’s operations, and Old Master Jerry Sean was intentionally cultivating her.
At that moment, there came a knock at the door.
"Come in," Mabel said without even raising her head.
The door opened slowly, revealing the house steward standing outside.
"Miss Sean, there’s a man outside who claims to be Mason Raymond looking for you," said the steward, bowing.
Upon hearing the name, Mabel’s face seemed somewhat bewildered.
She hurriedly looked at the steward and asked, "What did you say his name was?"
"Mason Raymond," the steward repeated.
Hurriedly, Mabel threw down the document in her hands and turned to race downstairs.
She never imagined that Mason would come to Capital City to find her!
And she never expected that he would have the courage to visit her in person!
The Sean family’s estate was vast; it took a car ride to get from the villa to the main gate.
A red sports car sped through the estate.
——
Just a moment later, the sound of the screeching brakes reached my ears.
I looked up, staring intently towards the direction of the entrance.
My heart was pounding with excitement, almost as if it was going to jump out of my chest.
The big gate opened slowly, and a beautiful young woman appeared at the entrance.
Her long, pitch-black hair hung loosely on her shoulders, and her rosy, almond-shaped face shone brightly. With a graceful and charming figure, she simply took my breath away.
Her eyes darted around and quickly found me in the crowd.
Mabel’s face instantly filled with a smile. She quickly walked over to me, barely believing the reality before her eyes.
"You’re here so soon?" Mabel asked on her tiptoes, lightly patting my head.
I calmed myself and forced back my excitement, smiling, "I couldn’t wait any longer."
Mabel smiled tenderly, "I’ve heard about your achievements, King of Chuzzle, and you’re really impressive."
I was filled with mixed emotions; I hadn’t expected Mabel to be following my every move so closely.
"Mabel, I missed you so much," I said, unable to contain my emotions. Under the bright sky, I boldly embraced Mabel.
Here, right at the entrance to the Sean family’s estate, every movement was under surveillance.
Even in this situation, I held Mabel in my arms.
Mabel looked somewhat dazed for a moment, but she quickly laughed and placed her arm over my shoulder.
The bodyguards within the estate were dumbstruck.
One of them even angrily said, "This little bastard, how dare he lay his hands on Miss Sean! He’s such a scum."
I buried my face in Mabel’s long hair.
Breathing in the scent that wafted up from her body, I couldn’t forget it for a long time.
After holding her for some time, I reluctantly let Mabel go.
"I wish I could hold you like this forever," I said, looking infatuated.
Mabel blushed and playfully scolded, "Behave yourself!"
At this point, Mabel suddenly said, "Your visit this time... It isn’t just to see me, is it?"
I shook my head and said, "I’m here with the Chuzzle Battle Zone to participate in a competition."
"A competition? The annual battle zone competition?" Mabel asked, sounding somewhat surprised.
I nodded vigorously, saying, "I’ve always wanted to come to Capital City to see you, but I was afraid it would cause you trouble."
"You silly, you should be worried about yourself," Mabel said with a laugh.
I took a deep breath and said, "As long as I can be with you, I’m not afraid of anything."
"Ahem, well, if there’s nothing to do with me, I’ll go ahead and leave first," Victor Green murmured.
Unfortunately, both Mabel and I were immersed in our own world, ignoring Victor completely.
Victor, feeling snubbed, simply turned around and left.
At this point, Mabel suddenly asked, "Do you want to visit the Sean family?"
I was taken aback and asked, "May I?"
"Of course, as long as you’re not afraid," Mabel chuckled.
I took a deep breath and said, "Of course I’m not afraid; that day will come sooner or later."
As for the situation in the Sean family, I knew a thing or two about it.
The entire family appeared to be unshakable, but in reality, it was internally fractured; it was held together solely by Old Master Jerry Sean’s forceful control.
Ever since I heard the news, I had been extremely curious about the Sean family.
Not for any other reason, but simply for my concern for Mabel’s safety.
"Then follow me," Mabel said, pulling my hand.
"Okay!" I nodded vigorously and adjusted my state of mind. I followed Mabel into the Sean family’s estate.
The expression of the two bodyguards guarding the entrance was somewhat unnatural, and the look they gave me was even vaguely hostile.
To them, Mabel was an untouchable existence.
But now, there was an apparently naive stranger, brazenly holding Mabel’s hand, and it was difficult for them to accept.
"Get in the car," Mabel said, walking in front of the car.
I opened the car door and got in.
The car slowly drove towards the Sean family’s villa.
"You seem to have grown a lot," Mabel observed, looking at me.
I replied seriously, "If I don’t grow, how could I be worthy to marry you?"
This one sentence made Mabel blush slightly.
"Actually..." Mabel opened her mouth, as if to say something.
But in the end, she shook her head and smiled, "It’s nothing."
The two drove around the vast estate.
——
At this moment, an old man with a walking stick stood on the top floor of the villa, silently watching everything unfold.
This old man was none other than the true master of the Sean family, Duane Sean.
"Master, this man is Mason Raymond," said the chief steward, bowing.
"Mm," Duane Sean replied indifferently.
The chief steward tentatively asked, "Shall we make him leave?"
Duane shook his head and said, "There’s no need."
The chief steward remained silent for a moment, then said, "Master, you once said that Mason Raymond might become your last trump card. Isn’t it inappropriate to expose him now..."
Duane Sean stroked his beard and sighed, "Indeed, but not everything can be under one’s control. Sometimes it’s best to let nature take its course."
The conversation between the two seemed somewhat cryptic.
As the head of the Sean family, Duane Sean naturally possessed an extremely sharp mind and extraordinary foresight.
He had anticipated the future fragmentation of the Sean family and even his granddaughter Mabel’s precarious situation after his death.
Thus, Duane Sean considered Mason as his last safety net.
Not for any other reason but because Mason was the son of that man, and this alone was worth gambling on in Duane Sean’s eyes.
