Chapter 305: Chapter 305 - Demonic Beast Core
I stared at the three people standing before me, confused. I couldn’t recall meeting them before.
The trio quickly spoke up, "We witnessed your entire pill refinement process! You’re absolutely incredible!"
"And you even got an invitation from the Divine Alchemist Pavilion. We truly respect you!"
After hearing their words, I finally got it.
Wallace Wills’s expression was stiff and deeply humiliated.
How had I managed to secure an invitation from the Divine Alchemist Pavilion? It was puzzling.
"Please, you three teach this kid a lesson!" Wallace Wills demanded again.
The trio looked at Wallace Wills and replied coldly, "Wallace Wills, are we that tight with you?"
"Right. Say one more word, and we’ll deal with you first!"
"How dare someone like you insult Mr. Raymond?"
The trio understood perfectly that an alchemist from the Divine Alchemist Pavilion held far more worth than Wallace Wills, just another Medicine King.
"Mr. Raymond, we’re sorry for the trouble. If you ever need anything, just let us know," the three said with respect.
After saying this, the trio departed together.
I smirked at Wallace Wills.
"Master Wallace, looks like your connections aren’t so impressive after all," I mocked.
Wallace Wills’s face was beyond ugly. He gritted his teeth and said, "Mason Raymond, you’ve already grabbed the herbs. What else do you want!"
"Grabbed?" I scoffed.
"Wallace Wills, I told you clearly that within three days, everything would be brought to my door! Too bad you broke your word."
With that, I waved my hand and swept all the herbs from Wallace Wills’s stall into my Spatial Magic Artifact.
Wallace Wills’s face went purple, and he shook with fury.
But he couldn’t do anything to me and had to swallow his rage.
After collecting the herbs, I turned and walked away.
——
Wallace Wills watched Mason Raymond’s retreating figure, his teeth grinding in anger.
——
"Mr. Raymond, this Herbs Convention was quite profitable," Victor Green said, looking pleased.
I nodded, "Absolutely, we should thank Wallace Wills for that, or I never would’ve learned about this Herbs Convention."
This was what you’d call a lucky break.
The Herbs Convention wrapped up at midnight.
Victor Green and I found a hotel to crash at temporarily.
That night, I opened my Spatial Magic Artifact and carefully tallied the herbs.
There were three herbs over five hundred years old, and a full ten over one hundred years old!
Such a massive haul thrilled me!
"I’m loaded!" I couldn’t help but grin.
I flopped on the bed, feeling like I’d definitely have an amazing dream tonight.
Right then, someone knocked on the door.
I frowned and asked instinctively, "Who’s there?"
"Mason, it’s me," Zendaya Andrew’s sultry voice drifted from outside.
"Zendaya? What’s she doing here?" I frowned slightly.
After thinking it over, I still went and opened the door.
Outside, Zendaya Andrew wore a purple gauze dress. Under the light, her alluring silhouette was perfectly outlined.
"Miss Andrew, why are you here?" I asked.
Rather than answering, Zendaya smiled softly, "Mr. Raymond, won’t you ask me in?"
I frowned but eventually stepped aside and let Zendaya Andrew enter.
Then I poured a glass of water for Zendaya Andrew and asked casually, "Miss Andrew, what brings you to see me this late at night?"
Zendaya raised her face, her mesmerizing eyes fixed on me.
"Can’t I come see you without a reason?" Zendaya batted her eyes and spoke sweetly.
I could sense the bewitching power radiating from her. As she talked, the mental assault grew even stronger.
"Miss Andrew, your charm won’t work on me," I said coolly.
Surprise flickered across Zendaya Andrew’s face, as her charm had never failed before!
Zendaya seemed reluctant to give up. She stood and moved toward me, her enchanting form swaying with every step.
She sat beside me, leaning close to my ear and speaking in a honeyed, seductive tone, "Mr. Raymond, do you really feel nothing?"
As she spoke, Zendaya reached out to touch my chest.
But right then, I caught her wrist.
An overwhelming force suddenly burst forth!
"Miss Andrew, please behave yourself. If you keep this up, don’t blame me for getting rough," I said icily.
Zendaya’s expression shifted slightly, and she sighed, "Mr. Raymond, you’re the first person who can resist my charm."
It was impossible for me to be completely unaffected, since I was a young, hot-blooded man.
But deep in my heart, I carried a powerful yearning.
This yearning gave me tremendous resolve, as well as the strength to push forward, enough to resist any temptation in the world.
"Miss Andrew, please get straight to the point if you have something to say, or I’m going to sleep," I said coldly.
Seeing this, Zendaya quit teasing me.
She pulled out a green bead from her chest, which shimmered with an enchanting glow in the dim light.
"Mr. Raymond, here’s a present for you," Zendaya smiled.
I took the bead, looking confused, "What is this?"
"Take a guess," Zendaya’s gorgeous eyes twinkled, speaking playfully.
As I studied the bead, I answered seriously, "If I’m not wrong, this...should be a glass marble."
"Pfft!"
Hearing my words, Zendaya couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
"Mr. Raymond, do you think I came to see you in the middle of the night just to give you a glass bead?" Zendaya asked, laughing.
I was naturally joking. I toyed with the bead and asked, "So what exactly is this?"
Only then did Zendaya speak seriously, "This is an inner core, from a sea Demonic Beast."
"Inner core?" I was startled.
This was my first time hearing such a term.
Zendaya nodded, "Yes, a Demonic Beast Core."
I frowned and asked, "Where did you get this?"
The subject seemed to trigger memories for Zendaya.
She stared out the window and spoke slowly, "Ten years ago, I was stuck on a deserted island, where I found it by accident."
"There were two total. I’d already used one."
Hearing that, I couldn’t help but stroke the core and smile, "The charm that flows from you comes from this core, right?"
"Exactly right, Mr. Raymond," Zendaya replied, covering her mouth as she laughed.
I rubbed my chin and asked, "This Demonic Beast Core must be pretty valuable, right? Why give it to me?"
With a touch of sadness, Zendaya responded, "I’m just a woman with no backing. If I want to rise higher, I have to depend on a man."
"Before you, I thought about Lainey Kessler, but now I’ve changed my mind. You’re better suited than he is."
I raised an eyebrow, "Is this an investment? A partnership?"
"You could see it that way," Zendaya smiled.
Right then, I suddenly realized that Zendaya and I seemed quite alike.
Both of us were desperately trying to change our situations, yet had no background to lean on.
It was definitely a tough road to walk, and for a woman like Zendaya to get where she was today, she must have paid a heavy price.
"Miss Andrew, I still don’t quite get it," I said.
"If that’s the case, why not pick the heir of a Great Family?"
Zendaya raised an eyebrow, "Mr. Raymond, even if I attached myself to a powerful family, do you think I’d be treasured? In their eyes, I might just be a throwaway toy."
"In comparison, investing in promising stock is the smarter move – what if someday, you become part of a Great Family too?"
