Chapter 300: Chapter 300 - Herb Gathering
Peach Blossom City’s medicinal herbs are famous across the entire country. That’s why the Divine Alchemist Pavilion hosts an annual herb gathering here every year. Though they call it a herb gathering, it’s really more like a trading meet. Anyone who shows up can swap treasures of equal worth with each other. As the King of Medicine, Wallace Wills shows up without fail every year.
Wallace Wills headed to the warehouse that evening to get ready for the herb gathering.
——
At this time, Victor Green and I were driving toward Peach Blossom City.
"Mr. Raymond, you think Wallace Wills’s gonna hand over those herbs without any tricks?" Victor Green muttered as he drove.
I shut my eyes and said coolly, "He’ll either give them up, or he won’t."
Either way, now that I had control over the Shrinking Ground Into An Inch technique, I could get out of any mess that came up.
By the time we rolled into Peach Blossom City, it was already 7 PM.
"Let’s grab some food first," I said, rubbing my empty stomach.
"I was thinking the exact same thing!" Victor Green nodded quickly.
We found a restaurant and pulled over. I handed Victor Green the menu to pick out the dishes.
About thirty minutes later, all the food was ready.
I looked down at the dishes spread across the table and couldn’t help but let out a small sigh.
"No wonder this is Peach Blossom City - every single dish has medicinal herbs mixed in," I said.
Victor Green mumbled, "Can it even taste good with herbs thrown in?"
"Young man, you don’t get it." The owner walked over after hearing us talk.
He pulled up a chair and explained with a grin, "Our Peach Blossom City takes herb development to the absolute limit!"
"These herbs don’t just help your body - they keep the taste amazing too. You won’t find this anywhere else!"
Victor Green looked doubtful. "Really? Sounds like you’re just hyping up your own stuff."
"Hey, if you don’t buy it, just try it!" the owner said helplessly.
Still suspicious, Victor Green grabbed some food with his chopsticks.
"Whoa! This actually tastes incredible!" Victor Green’s eyes lit up as he started wolfing down the food.
Seeing this, I couldn’t help but laugh.
The owner said with some pride, "See? I wasn’t pulling your leg, was I?"
I joked, "Boss, he hasn’t been around much. Don’t take it personally."
"Oh, don’t worry about it. People from other places always doubt our Peach Blossom City food. I’m used to it by now." The owner waved his hand.
Then the owner said, "You two are here for the Herb Gathering, right?"
"Herb Gathering?" I was caught off guard.
"Boss, what’s this Herb Gathering?"
The owner looked surprised. "You don’t know? This Herb Gathering is put on by the Medicine God Pavilion! And every year, the Medicine God Pavilion brings out some top-tier medicinal herb!"
My eyes suddenly brightened. There was something this good going on?
I’d been curious about the Medicine God Pavilion for ages. I never expected to stumble into one of their events today.
"Boss, when does it start?" I asked quickly.
The owner checked his watch. "In about thirty minutes."
Hearing this, I quickly grabbed Victor Green. "Stop eating and let’s go!"
"I’m not done yet." Victor Green muttered while shoving food in his mouth.
"Fine, after we take care of business, I’ll let you eat till you’re stuffed." I hurriedly pulled Victor Green out of the restaurant.
Since this was an event by the Medicine God Pavilion, it was naturally huge and pretty much everyone in Peach Blossom City knew about it.
I asked around and found out the Herb Gathering was happening at a place called Longevity Village.
So I drove us to Longevity Village.
Longevity Village lives up to its name - people say the average lifespan there is over a hundred years. Plenty of rich folks come to Longevity Village to retire.
By the time Victor Green and I got there, the Herb Gathering had already kicked off.
The whole village had basically turned into a marketplace!
Ancient medicinal herbs were scattered everywhere, and the prices were unbelievably cheap!
I casually picked up an herb with fifty years of potency.
"Boss, how much are you selling these herbs for?" I asked.
The owner waved his hand: "Five hundred thousand each. Buy more and you get bigger discounts."
I couldn’t help but sigh.
The price was ridiculously low!
No wonder Wallace Wills sold huge quantities to Caldwell back then - Peach Blossom City wasn’t lacking herbs at all!
"Wait, the price Caldwell bought them at was... about a million, right?" I said, rubbing my chin.
Victor Green nodded: "That’s right. Wallace Wills’s got a real black heart. Speaking of which, when are we gonna track him down?"
I sneered, "No rush. I’m sure he’ll definitely show up at events like this."
After saying that, I took Victor Green on a casual stroll around the Herb Gathering.
"Mr. Raymond, we meet again." Right then, a seductive voice came from behind us.
I turned around and saw it was Zendaya Andrew!
Same as always, she was dripping with charm. Her whole body radiated irresistible beauty, her delicate figure making you want to pull her close.
Just as I was about to greet her, a familiar voice reached me.
"Mr. Raymond, I didn’t expect to see you here too."
I turned around and saw Lainey Kessler, known as the Chief of River North’s Four Great Talents.
Lainey’s face had a twisted smile, full of nasty intent.
Of course, I could feel the hostility, so I laughed and said, "Is your knee doing better?"
At those words, Lainey’s face turned red with rage!
He glared at me, grinding his teeth as he said, "Thanks to you, it’s been fine for ages! You, on the other hand, have lived longer than I thought you would."
I raised an eyebrow. "Are you threatening me?"
"Of course not. You’re the famous King of Chuzzle - who would dare threaten you?" Lainey said with a creepy smirk.
After throwing out those words, he turned and walked away.
"Mr. Raymond, this is River North after all. It’s best to stay careful." Zendaya Andrew giggled behind her hand.
I bowed slightly. "Thanks for the heads up, Miss Andrew."
Zendaya nodded. "Just remember to call me if you need anything. I’m always ready to give myself to you."
Her words couldn’t help but make you shiver.
Victor Green, standing beside me, had his eyes wide open and was practically drooling.
Watching Zendaya’s retreating figure, I couldn’t help but stroke my chin.
"This Zendaya Andrew isn’t simple," I whispered to myself.
The last time we met, I felt that Zendaya had this natural charm that was hard to fight off.
Now, with sharper eyes than before, I could sense the strange allure radiating from her.
This charm didn’t just come from her looks, but more from deep inside her heart, like some kind of divine sense.
——
"Lainey, you’re not planning to make a move on Mason Raymond, are you?" Zendaya caught up with Lainey and asked.
Lainey looked grim. "What do you think?"
Zendaya’s captivating eyes fluttered, her voice laced with allure. "Between you and Mason Raymond, there’s no real bad blood. Why not just drop it for my sake?"
Hearing this, Lainey couldn’t help but sneer. "So even a seductive vixen has her soft moments?"
