Chapter 29: Chapter 29 - Pride Swallowed
When I spoke those words, everyone froze in shock!
Even Mabel Sean stared at me with surprise in her eyes.
In her impression, I was practically someone without a temper!
However, Mabel soon started laughing, clearly satisfied with my reaction.
"Kid, what did you say!?" Uncle Jasper Thompson exploded with anger!
His men stepped forward and barked, "Do you know who Mr. Thompson is? How dare you speak to him like that!"
I fixed them with a cold stare and said, "As I said, his identity and status mean nothing to me."
"I originally wanted to help him out of kindness, but your attitude disgusts me."
"Now, I’m telling you, I’m not serving you anymore, get lost!"
Hearing this, one of Thompson’s goons stepped forward and threatened coldly, "Cure Mr. Thompson immediately, or I’ll kill you!"
"Really!?" I shouted, taking the initiative by raising my hand and slapping him hard across the face!
The slap sent him flying, with a molar tooth shooting out of his mouth!
"You!" He glared at me like an enraged lion.
"Go back and practice more before you spout nonsense," I told him coldly.
After that, I turned and walked straight back into my room.
The door slammed shut with a loud "bang."
The scene outside fell silent as death, with Uncle Jasper Thompson’s face contorted with fury.
But his physical discomfort forced him to bow his head.
"Mabel, did you see? Is this how someone should treat their elders?" Uncle Thompson took a deep breath and asked.
Mabel Sean replied with a smile, "Uncle Thompson, you’re the one asking for help now, so it’s not right for you to consider yourself above everyone else."
"I won’t interfere with your matters," Mabel continued indifferently.
Then, Mabel got into her car and drove away.
Uncle Thompson’s face twisted with pain as he clutched his chest.
Meanwhile, I busied myself with my own affairs in my room, not giving Uncle Thompson a second thought.
Time ticked by, and before long, an hour had passed.
Finally, Uncle Thompson couldn’t take it anymore.
He stumbled over to my door, knocked weakly, and said through gritted teeth, "Mason Raymond, I was rude. I apologize to you..."
No sound came from the room, just silence.
Uncle Thompson continued painfully, "Mason Raymond, please help me. I really can’t stand it anymore..."
"I was wrong. I shouldn’t have been so arrogant..."
"Please help me for Mabel’s sake, I..."
Before Uncle Thompson could finish, I opened the door.
I stood there holding a pill in my hand.
"Take this pill, and your illness will naturally be cured," I said, handing him a black pill.
Uncle Thompson quickly grabbed it and examined it carefully.
The pill looked terrible, resembling sheep droppings found in a field.
This made Uncle Thompson suspect I was deliberately messing with him.
"Mason Raymond, are you sure this can cure my illness...?" Uncle Thompson asked with difficulty.
"Whether you believe it or not is up to you. If you don’t trust me, throw it away," I replied coldly.
After that, I closed the door again and returned to my room.
Uncle Thompson stared at the pill. Although doubtful, his pain left no time for hesitation. Swallowing hard, he put the pill into his mouth.
The moment it entered his stomach, Uncle Thompson felt intense heat flowing through his body.
The heat swirled inside him, finally gathering at his heart.
Suddenly, the pain in his chest began to ease gradually.
Within minutes, Uncle Thompson was astonished to find that the piercing pain had completely disappeared!
He touched his heart, his face filled with disbelief: "Is it...really healed?"
Looking toward my room, Uncle Thompson couldn’t help but be amazed.
Who was this Mason Raymond? How could he possess such exceptional medical skills?
Could everything Mabel had said been true?
"If there’s nothing else, you can leave now," my voice came from inside the room.
I no longer had any positive feelings toward Uncle Thompson at all. If not for Mabel’s sake, I wouldn’t have bothered helping him.
Uncle Thompson opened his mouth, then shook his head.
"Mr. Thompson, maybe your discomfort was caused by this kid’s tricks!" suggested one of Uncle Thompson’s men, covering his mouth with his hand.
"Otherwise, why couldn’t the hospital find anything, yet you instantly felt better after taking his pill?" the man continued with a sneering tone.
